When I was a small boy about 8 years-old, my father took me the White Heather Show in the old Georgia Auditorium in Vancouver. Will Starr and Robert Wilson were the featured artists. I will never forget the pandemonium caused by the accordion-playing of Will Starr. The next day the show travelled to Chilliwack about 65 miles east of Vancouver in the beautiful Fraser Valley - pastoral farms surrounded by majestic snow-capped mountains. The people of Chilliwack were heavy into barn dancing, so they too made a big fuss over Will Starr, making him "The Honorary Mayor of Chilliwack" for the day. A time not to be forgotten.
my granny introduced me to his music before I even went to school... clearly made an impression as im still listening now and im 30!!! Always remember him kicking his leg up like that when he was playing lol
Looks like the Abrerdeen Torry quine June Imray introducing the man with the box whom Robert Wilson discovered. When they played in Stornoway town hall c.1957 hardly anyone turned up which was a big disappointment. Robert was photographed at a dinner 1956 with my late uncle Iain Smith Manager for the Blindie in Huntley st.,Aberdeen before it moved to Kinkers c.1972, both resplendent in kilts and evening Highland dress with my uncle owning both a silver sporan and otter skin.
Hi. I heard a story once that my grans brother was will's dad. Her maiden name was starr and she lived in kilsyth, but she was born 1900ish? Wouldn't that be weird if we were related. Will certainly has our eyebrows lol
Genius absolute perfection lm a proud Irishman l Love my native Irish music but Will Starr is a sensation
my dad introduced me to this music fifty years ago, and it's as fresh and entertaining now as it was then.
What a joy to hear Will Starr again. I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert many years ago. Thanks a million. Greetings from Ireland. Terry.

my dad told us as a child that he was related to will starr cousin or something apparently will and shand would go around to their house and play
There used to a video of him doing "The March Hare" on the web - do you have that? I can't find it now.
What TV show is this from?
What are the names of the tunes? Great video by the way! :)
Don’t you think he’s a ringer of Richard Nixon?
How can you say that is Pish please can you explaine why you think it is Pish.
Isla St. Clair at 1:41?
no one can play a button key accordion like will, anyone can play a piano one
Shand was a dance band player not a virtuoso player
Different style of playing altogether, both great in their own ways, along with Bobby MacLeod, of course!
Croy boy.
Very good indeed but would sound much better if played at a much slower tempo. Shand was much more enjoyable to listen to .
That's the way he played, nothing wrong with it.
List.en to hisl

I think he's brilliant but it's too fast I think.
bloody good-------------but Jimmy Shand would have kicked his arse the best day he ever saw!
shortly before will starr died the great jimmy shand visited will on leaving said he was the best
Jim was always a gentleman and modest----------my late mate Andy played a Shand Marino and that was his opinion
Starr
