This game looks very refreshing. Not everyone wants to spend 4 hours looking for a piece of metal to craft a chest piece while managing your hunger levels in a world filled with 900 markers on the map. Good review and looks like I'll definitely be checking this out

God of war, to an extent. Last Of Us part 2. Resident Evil 2 remake. Perhaps Detroit: Become human...? Maybe these games don't meet your criteria but good, fairly linear 3rd person action/adventure games are quite sparse anyway.

Looks intriguing. Been dying for a good story-game too. In a world filled with so many online-oriented titles, it's nice to see something come out so tailored to the single-player experience.

If you want to understand what is happening in gaming media, just compare and contrast this great review, with the garbage that IGN just published. Please help spread the word of your favorite UA-cam critics, who make in-depth, focused, honest and knowledgable reviews like this channel. The big outlets putting out garbage reviews over and over and over, need to go away. Things like IGN and GameSpot need to die, channels who actually work for consumers like this one and many others deserve more success.
Yes, I agree. When it comes to big developers and publishers, the priority of mainstream media and UA-camrs who prioritize access over integrity, is to stay on the good graces of them, then being very linient when reviewing most AAA releases. And then they overcompensate with smaller titles like this, since there is no access to lose here, no big launch events to be flown to with paid hotels, sponsorships for the outlet, etc. Yes of course many UA-camrs play that game too, but there are many, many channels that prioritize consumers and integrity above that stuff, and that becomes evident in their behaviour and reviews. People like Skill Up-Laymen Gaming for example have been blacklisted by studios for their critical stance on their BS, and they keep being as critical of them no matter what. So it's just a matter of looking and evaluating, but as you say, you have better chances of finding honest critics here, while in mainstream media you're almost certain that they're all terrible.

Fuck them corporate bastards, they lied me out of £45 by posting fake online reviews regarding the post-dishonered stealth game "Thief". . This game is awesome, I cracked it but I am going to support the devs who created this masterpiece and kop it.

Because of UA-cam stupid algorithm that puts always the bigger older channel on top of the others even if they suck. Karak climbed up the ladder thanks to his devotion, great work, persistance and honesty. He should have millions of subscribers by now but he will get there

@Jessie Jonez holy shit they did? mad respect. i thought ign was bought a long time ago. maybe last of us devs didnt pay them. they usually give high scores for shit big budget games. last of us didnt suck but it certainly wasnt that great. gameplay gets old super fast. way too much forced live cut scenes. it's another game that gets circlejerked to death by casuals.

Agreed. After reading both reviews, A Plague Tale is surprisingly longer than Rage 2. You can finish Rage 2 campaign in just 7 to 8 hours.

@@RobertoRodriguez-ho7we I'm surprised because Rage 2 is an open world game. Some reviews are surprised to see the credits roll so soon. Sure you can clear out those question mark and still upgrade, but there's no motivation since you already beat the main villain.

Saw the trailer for this game and was mildly interested. Decided to pick it up and it's got my nomination for GOTY in just how well it executed what it set out to do. I feel games these days try to juggle too many things at once, but this is a focused experience.
Well you have Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2 that it's going up against and those games are AMAZING!!

Very happy you mentioned it, I was thinking it's like Hellblade+Brothers too. All story driven, the "good" kind of linear, immersive, smaller (as in not "fully AAA priced") games that positively surprised me.
Amazing game - I'd recommend playing it in French (similar to Russian for Metro) and with no HUD for an incredible experience

Another Great AA game that shows that you don't need a Big Budget to create emotional, great looking and fantastic games. though, they all seem to fall when it comes to combat, but story-telling is always beyond standard.
@@neilcognito Yeah the story might be something, but the stealth mechanics and gameplay over all sucks balls man, get over this "Another Great AA game" bulls**t, this isn't even close to a great AA game. It's good, but not great or worth the money.

SebastianZub ah I see, well I ended up buying it too. As long as the story is good I’m ok with that but I will say I agree with you to an extent, the price should be cheaper for sure. Hellblade was an excellent game and that was a cheaper AA title than this.

Hellblade top 3 games of all time as of right now. Besides Witcher 3 and The last of Us. Unbelievable experience. Unfortunately Microsoft bought them and we won't see anything close again for a while.

Wow. Didn’t expect to come on UA-cam and find a lowkey dope game! I love these slower paced story driven games.
I've tried a BUNCH of times to get into this game over the course of about 2 years, but couldn't play more than 30 minutes. Finally, I just pushed through and I am BEYOND grateful that I did. This game is an absolute masterpiece and I can't wait to start the sequel tomorrow.

Great review as ever. I lol’d pretty hard at the “ACG ASMR” bit.
Really really enjoyed the game. I was blown away by the voice acting, especially when I learned that the actors were around the same age as the characters they portrayed, and the graphics. Spent about 15 minutes in photo mode at the beginning of the game admiring how good the environment and characters look. Loved the main character too

I recognised _A Plague Tale's_ composer immediately. Same fellow who scored Dontnod's _Vampyr_ (also published by Focus Home Interactive). The soundtrack made that otherwise middling game memorable, and it seems like this one will be similarly elevated.

I remember only seeing one ad for this game a few months ago and thinking it looked special. The story, voice acting, music, I was very interested. Later on I couldn't remember the name or find info on it, so I'm happy this just showed up on my recommended.
Also it looks like my initial impressions on this weren't all totally unfounded. I definitely plan on picking this up, we need to support more fresh/new IP's like this.

The only DLC that this game contains is 3 different coat of arms robes that Amecia can wear during the game but other that that this game is amazing! And in my opinion it's really good to see a game portray the Black Death in such a creepy and shocking way it is very good and I'm a sucker for Medieval games it's amazing!! And the brother and sister relationship between Amecia and Hugo is quite relatable.

No real combat in this game...say what you will but most gamers wanna directly interact with a game and violence is usually the means.

3rd person action adventure game about a Parent/Parental figure escorting their child/child surrogate is becoming the new default game these days; like Platformers, FPS, and Open World games were before.
I loved Brothers, Rain, and Ico! Don’t mind these types of games.

Great review, just completed the game today and overall I liked the concept. I had a few issues with the wonky targeting at times and the skills or equipment that under performed in certain sections. Definitely worth the time to play if anyone was on the fence.
I'm so grateful for these smaller gamestudios. otherwise gaming would be truly dead for me. Currently playing Mordhau and this little gem here. both games made my a ridiculously small team, yet they have so much more heart, soul and overall quality, its insane. Just a lil while ago, I played Katana Zero and had one of the most fun I've had with a videogame in a very long time and it was made by a single guy. keep it up indie devs. you the best out there

This game is incredible, I didn't want it to end. It's beautiful, it's immersive, it's dark and brutal, and it's heartwarming. It's definitely up there with my favourite games.
Yeah, it really resonates with me too. I binged MKIceandFire's seven-hour walkthrough and I didn't want it to end. It's so adorable in terms of the sibling relationship. The music is incredible and made me cry on a few occasions. I really hope this isn't the last we see of A Plague Tale because I would love to see more of these titles. Hope it sold enough for the developers to warrant a sequel or spin-off or whatever.
I had a good laugh when I saw that one of the tags for this game on steam was 'female protagonist'. Gee, I didn't know my favourite genre of game was male protagonist. Goes to show the status quo and what people's expectations are.

What a fantastic game ..it has become one of my favorite game if all time. Compare it with another teen game TLOU2, Plague Tale shines in story, character motivations. It does not delve into edgy teen soap opera drama, just platinum the day the sequel trailer got released. Please don't overlook this game..Can't wait for Plague Tale: Requiem.

Focus and excellent pacing are probably two of the best factors of this game, and ones I haven't seen discussed that often. Yeah, it's a niche game gameplay-wise and even story-wise at times, but if it's your jam, this game should delight you. Fair review, thanks for the video.
