23markd Yep. I feel the same way. I was already head over heels for this show. But when Lungs came on I thought well I’m watching a once in a lifetime miracle of a show right here. Another great Townes moment was on Breaking Bad when they played an awesome cover of waiting round to die at the end of an episode in season 2. He wrote great songs in general but it’s awesome that the 2 best shows I’ve ever seen both used his tunes. Says something about ole Townes longevity.
The first time that I saw this scene I was floored. Hiding the villain in plain sight was genius. The man was even scared to speak to the detectives. The little tune that starts playing at 1:43 is chilling. And to top off this brilliant scene is Townes van Zandt's "Lungs." I truly believe that TVZ is one of the best American storytellers and poets.
I love the little bickering they show between gilbough and papania…after showing rust/Marty bicker in the car for the whole show up until then. It gives a little depth to their characters after their staunchly rigid role for the first 7 episodes.

I watch a lot of dark stuff to try to give myself a scare and the Yellow King from True Detective is the only villain that really creeped me out. He’s like Buffalo Bill’s older, more deranged brother.

I still dont get why the victims called this guy "the spaghetti monster". A few scars on his lower jaw but nothing too out of the ordinary. Although i imagine that if someone were trying to kill me i might well exaggerate the features with the fear and adrenaline.
Could be some kind of mask the cult used to worn before rituals. Probably he worn some kind of hat in his head which made him looks like spaghetti monster. The scar in his face and his appearance. The little girl couldn't think of better word.
It was a little girl’s description so not unusual for a young victim to give an unrealistic description. I also remember when he was first revealed while Rust was talking to him in episode 2 or 3 he had a beard. Would make sense for a child giving a description of an unkempt beard as looking like spaghetti.
I think I gotta be in the small category of people who are more creeped out than anyone with this scene because they actually thought it was him since the school scene.
