Legendary guitarist Earl Slick speaks candidly with SongDivision founder Andy Sharpe about his work with David Bowie and John Lennon. He describes what it’s like to meet and work with such huge stars, their different audition and songwriting processes, and how he didn’t remember meeting Lennon (but Lennon remembered meeting him) at the recording of the Bowie/Lennon classic ‘Fame’. Yes folks, it was 1975!
Filmed and recorded at the Gibson Showroom and backed by the fabulous SongDivision Las Vegas band, the interview includes three great live performances:
'Rebel Rebel' - David Bowie
‘Nobody Told Me’ - John Lennon
‘The Jean Genie’ - David Bowie
Earl Slick is a regular feature musician on SongDivision events around the world.

Earl Slick is the real deal, instant cred, the guy is awesome
I sure would like to see Mr.Slick tour. I saw him on the Station to Station tour with Bowie, but I'd like to see him on his own.
John Hearn Oh yeah definitely me too
@@gtrjay55 Earl was not on the Station To Station tour...he was however on the 1983 Serious Moonlight Tour as a last minute replacement for Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Earl Slick is rock n roll. He can’t help it. It’s in his DNA. Love his tone and his licks. Also love his Brooklyn attitude of not being intimidated.
I like how at 12:01, Earl starts laughing after wrong chording up a song he's played a zillion times.
That happens on the record too. They recreated it pretty well.
Anyone else notice the 12 string Les Paul....what?
Earl Slick is a one of a kind great guitarist. Trust me to work with Bowie you have be on top of your game. And as for Lennon, he's the Nirvana of Music, lucky Earl, you rock dude.
*Totally underrated* *Slick Kicks Ass*
im afraid its Mick Ronson for me without Mick Bowie would be nowhere
Earl Slick acknowledges Mick Ronson as Bowies best guitarist! He also played with Ian Hunter on the 1977 Overnight Angels tour. Small pool of super talented guitarists out there!
Yeah Mick Ronson was definitely the guitar player when I think of Bowie.
David knew talent and Earl knew it too!
Earl is a freakin' legend!

Earl , one of the true greats 👍
I was at the '74 Diamond Dogs concert in Ottawa. He played for only 45 minutes and some of the local toughs from my hometown decided to start a riot in protest. Chairs flew on stage and general mayhem ensued. Ah to be young and crazy again.
Love his guitar playing!
Earl is a thick skinned and a shiner
That Simple Slingerland drum set is an art to play afew drums and make it sound so full
