Please keep a tab on Ann. She may look happy and healthy but based on what she says her PTSD and depression are overwhelming her right now. When a person loses hope and starts to consider suicide they can have moments of appearing more peaceful. Prayers and love that Ann survives.
Prayer and love to all the children being abused in foster care; to all the women and children kidnapped and sold into a life of ONGOING violence. I pray that this world could end soon.

I mean cuz I never thought I'd be homeless at one time and I was and was not using drugs it can happen to anybody cuz it happened to me at one time but praise God by the grace of God Only by he is great I got out of abusive situation I had stage 3 breast cancer and a cancer survivor of a year and January 30th it'll be a year and I have how a little apartments car and I'm on disability but I went through a whole lot and I used to always say before this happen we're all a paycheck away from being homeless
I live and rent in a suburb of Los Angeles, CA. I'm a single lady in my 50's and I've always chosen to live alone because boyfriends, husbands and roommates have 'attitudes' and they come and go. I don't need to live with all of the drama that comes with that.
Currently in the Los Angeles area -- a one-bedroom apartment rents for $1,500.00 and up. I don't make all that much and already my rent is taking way more than half of what I earn. I'm barely getting by right now after paying my bills. One thing that I've had to do is that I've stopped eating anything for breakfast or lunch and I only eat when I get home from work. So I'm only eating only one meal per day.
But, yes, I agree that "We are all at risk of becoming homeless" -- at least that's true here in Los Angeles, CA. The rent's continue to rise. But, with everyone out of work because of the pandemic, the rents here have stabilized at least for now. I don't know what I'm going to do when I get priced out completely.
I'm seeing a lot of people who own their own homes who are renting out 'rooms' to individuals and a lot of single people are just renting rooms and still they're paying a lot of money just for a single room per month! It's crazy out here right now!
And, the homeless population here in LA is growing by the thousands -- there are large hoards of the homeless in just about every city. A lot of them are coming in from out of state from all over the U.S. Southern California right now is 'Mecca' for the homeless.
@@thomasmorgan6697 That’s always a good thing to remind people, so they don’t put too much distance between themselves and the people on this channel...and also so they can remember, and try to prepare for that. I think most people would be surprised how fast you can go through savings when the sh*t hits the fan, tho!

When my son moved to Los Angeles in late 2017, he rented a 1-br. apartment in Hollywood for $2,600.00/mo. and there were amenities. He moved out for several reasons, one was because they had a bunch of crazy tenants that pulled the fire alarm in the middle of the night. He then moved to a 1-br. garden apartment in W.Hollywood, that rent was $1,900.00. There were less amenities, but it was very nice.
This is what happens when you run your credit into a ditch. You have to take what you can get.

@@jejourneclark5870 That takes savings. It’s also hard to do with a prostitution record. The landlords assume you will be running a brothel out of there, even though I would say most women don’t bright the whole streets to their home. Anyway, a lot of folks have a record, but to get off these streets, you need stable housing. That means someone has to take a chance on you. There’s a big need for housing units for homeless people who have had to do a little strange for some change. Even transitional housing for a couple years can be a start.

Ann’s story really gets to me.. she’s so strong. Her childhood never feeling loved or wanted broke my heart. You can tell she’s such a good person.. I hope her life gets a little easier.

It is a nice gesture. Unfortunately money isn't going to fix the problems that exist on skidrow. By their own claims these ladies can earn $100-$300 a day. Many working class people don't bring home much more than $100 a day. Yet they are able to live a realitivly normal life. It may not be a fancy life but they can pay their bills especially if they hv a partner contributing the same amount. Plus the government helps with food if you have multiple mouths to feed. Realistically the bulk of any money donated will be spent on drugs, alcohol and/or cigarettes. Those purchases will kill most anyones budget & have them on the street.
I hope she receives the same opportunities and support that Kelly received.

And after a while, it feels like 'community' whose common ground is 'Soft White Underbelly'. Viewers from all over the world. So many generous, kindhearted people who can't look away. There's a lot of hard stories but Ann's is the worst to listen to as a woman. What ever happened to human decency? No one is being held accountable for their crimes. It's a helpless feeling watching from afar. But it's also uplifting, reading alot of the comments. Because of this channel there have been solutions for some, and we've also learned about some who have succumbed to their disease. Hard reality. Sometimes I have to recover from some videos myself. Ann's was one for sure. 💔

I’m serious when I say this... I drove across the US listening to Soft White Underbelly the whole way!!! I have to admit, there were a few times that I pulled up to a toll booth and asked “how much” because was so intrigued by the interviews. Only taking in what I was hearing! Love this channel!!!!

So glad she is doing better this interview. I had no words the 1st one because I was utterly horrified at her story, from the childhood horror to the horror she had just experienced. So glad she was able to get rest and stay inside more due to the donations. I pray she finds the strength to get off the streets, get deep counseling and heal so that she can have some sort of a happy, peaceful life in the near future. Ann froze when Mark suggested getting out of California. That seemed like a non option for her. She couldn't see far enough away from outside of her door. I hope with mental health she will see leaving as an option for a better life. As she is now, she may be staying there day to day to the end of her days.

As tough as it is for her there are elements that keep her there. Even tho $80 a nite is expensive she can go out and earn it. Whereas moving to a less expensive city she wouldn't be able to walk out the door & earn $100

She’s going to leave. It’s all part of the process. It doesn’t happen overnight. But the horrendous events that happened is to push her out of this situation. She’s closer to victory than she was last year this time.
She actually could get it in the Midwest & it’s not such a high cost of living. It’s hard to go somewhere and work there when you don’t know the locale, tho. Sometimes the devil you know is better. Plus, moving is expensive. If women move here, though, they will be sheltered, if they have to send you to a rural area until something opens up in the city. Or you go to the county and file a Rule 25, which qualifies you for inpatient treatment. There are easy ways to “land” here, and lots of programs. If she didn’t want to quit the life it’s going on up here, but it’s easier to start if you’ve got a car or a place. It’s that getting started that’s always a struggle, no matter where you go. The only way it’s easy here is if you are willing to go along with a program til you get your own place (go along with rules, etc).

The reason why the school denied you was because you tried to go to school before you took out loans and never finished her education plus she could have put her loans in forbearance and went to school later I Know because I work for a college.
@Ericc O. Understood... but a lot of that FAFSA paperwork or online filing probably went above her head. Not that she’s “dumb”, but it takes organization [having your debts, tax returns etc] and a few hours to complete. It’s not hard but it’s detailed. The drugs would make clear thinking barely possible to make things worse.She probably just signed everything without understanding or even reading through it. She prob also had no idea that she could have had free professional help to complete the financial aid paperwork. It must have been daunting to her.
I could not watch till the end, the first video of Ann. My heart hurts for her so badly. Ann deserves a huge break in life . Ann, you are the strongest woman ever! I will go back and watch the rest of the first video. I’m afraid for Ann to go back out there.
