  • Student Doctor Makayla Swancutt- "A Characterization of the Posterior Femoral Cutaneous Nerve and its Clinical Application for Autologous Breast Reconstruction". Student doctor Swancutt completed her undergraduate degree in Human Biology and minor in chemistry at South Dakota State University. She is currently a Clinical Anatomy Fellow on the Kansas City campus. Student doctor Swancutt has had many opportunities to focus on teaching, leadership, and research. Some research projects currently ongoing include cadaveric studies that focus on the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve, the motor branches of the ulnar nerve, the anterolateral ligament of the knee, percent atherosclerosis in the uterine artery compared to the LAD and carotid arteries, and the blood supply of the lower lip for safe filler injection practices. She also completed a case study representing a unique hamstring variation known as tensor fascia suralis. She is involved in the KCU ACOOG (OB/Gyn) Club and Surgical Skills Track, volunteers twice a week with middle and high school students at Hope Church where she is a small group leader. SD Swancutt also enjoys going on walks with her Goldendoodle puppy, cooking elaborate dinners with her fiancé, yoga/barre workouts, and retail therapy.
