My dad had a BMB two wheel tractor with one of those Red BSA engines, rated at ten horsepower, no idea of how old it was as it came with the house he bought in 1960, the house had been used by the land army during the war as a barrack's and they had cultivated the one acre garden. It was not running at the time but my father was employing a builder who had been a motorcycle mechanic in the army and he got it going. I remember my fathers VW van not starting so I towed it with the BMB tractor down the road and when my father let the clutch out the van was dragged down the road with the rear wheels locked. Must have been an absolute beast to drive all day with the plough on.
I used to drive one of them ransom triple mowers when I was simple too, I knocked it out of gear to go faster down a steep hill , when I banged it back in gear cause it was going to fast !!! It nearly stood on its nose , change of underpants that was for sure 😱
I have one of those little 2hp Briggs and Stratton engines, in white! I haven't run it in a while, but it took no getting going, and it ran well. To be honest, we were playing with the idea of mounting it in a frame, along with a Lucas 12v dynamo and regulator, and making a purpose built mobile battery charging set out of them.
I think that atom would definitely love that green briggs, I actually have one it was made in 68,mine came off a merrytiller so it's not unrealistic to put it on an atom, I also have 2 more lol all 3hp I do love briggs. Great auction finds 👍
