    I live New Orleans suburb, I left my Fiddle Fig out on small patio during freeze, it’s still doing fine. I only lost one left to the freeze. Also, I did propagate by cutting one leaf off-it has a big long root tail!!😊

      Great question! When you have roots coming out the top, bottom, and wrapping around the inner edge, it is time to move up a size.

    Hi Clair 👋🏽 I'm hoping you can help me. I got my fiddle leaf fig 3 months ago on clearance. It was severely neglected but still alive. A few leaves were dry and the root ball was completely dry. I cleaned up the dried out leaves and watered it. Since it was winter I've only been watering it once a month. It's seemed to b doing fine but now that its spring I was thinking I should repot it. The root ball is still dry and the water runs straight through. Should I break apart the root ball and repot with new soil? Some one told me I can just put fresh soil on top but that doesn't sound right. Can you help me?😊

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant  Рік тому +2

      Hello! Yes, I do agree it sounds like it needs to be in new soil that is not hydrophobic. Repot with fresh fast draining soil, no worries about breaking up the root system, the less you mess with the roots the better! Place it in a pot with multiple holes on the bottom and water thoroughly. Wait to water again when the top inches of soil are dry ensuring the full root system gets access to the water and it continues to drain properly. Place the plant right up in front of and up against your brightest window!

    Hi I need help. Based off your videos, I suspect my plant had root rot and not enough sun. So, I bought your fig leaf soil and bought it a grow light. It’s still not perking up. I only water once per week with 1 cup of water..what more can I do?? It’s driving me nuts lol.

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant  Рік тому +1

      Hi Megan, thanks for reaching out! Is your plant sitting directly in front of and up against your brightest window? I recommend watering when the top inches of soil are dry and ensuring that water is draining properly out the bottom drainage holes. 1 cup is enough for a 1 foot plant. But your plant will most likely need more water. Water thoroughly and I am certain it will perk up!

    Hi Clare , please can you advise me on my FLF ? She’s been with me about 3 years and so far was pretty easy. I feed her liquid gold leaf , potted her in a soil mix with bark , perlite and worm castings. She’s in front of a shaded south facing window. She’s more of a bush than a tree with 2 main stems and 3 thinner ones. So far this year she’s had no new main leaves , just a few tiny yellowish growth on the thinner stems. She’s also dropped a few bigger leaves which had turned brown around the edges. She has been moved around a bit due to decorating and the small bottom leaves are underneath the window but I’m concerned that she’s not putting out new growth in what should be growing season. Any advice please ?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant  11 місяців тому +1

      Great question! Is she outgrowing her pot? That can be a main reason why fiddle leaf fig grows or stops. If there is no room for the root system to continue growing, it is not able to support new branches and growth.

      @@FiddleLeafFigPlant hi Claire , I actually thought that and repotted her a couple of weeks ago . She wasn’t particularly root bound but the roots are so thin anyway it’s hard for me to tell. There were roots above the soil though. She was also repotted last year too . I tend to be an under waterer as I’m scared of root rot so I wonder if that’s been the problem. I have a similar problem with a rubber plant , the leaves are thin and droopy , then turn yellow and drop off .

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant

    I live in Florida just off the river. Two tall figs are under roof. Something is eating the leaves, big bites. I spray with Neem weekly. Still they are eating away.Thank goodness new growth is coming, but a new leaf got eaten in half. I have notched and waiting for results. What can I do?

      Hi there, is it a snail or some other type of bug? You can try pruning the top to encourage more branches and new leaves to grow.
