Being wired only with no BT, 2.4g, or keycaps for $200 is just kind of insane to me. It shouldn't lack any features that are commonly found on $100 keyboards. The low-profile IQunix Magi65 runs circles around this thing for way less money.

It's really all about the market niche. There are plenty of higher-end custom mechanical keyboards that focus more on quality and design than feature set, and it's not uncommon to lack wireless connections. The market niche that NuPhy typically targets does, however, usually include lots of features balanced with quality - which appeals to a broader audience. They've edged into a niche here that has a smaller audience who prefer build quality over features, so naturally it won't appeal to as many people.

I'm a big fan of your content and your production keeps getting better and better! This is the first Nuphy keyboard that really grabs my attention. I'm not hugely into low profile, but I adore my Lofree Flow. It sounds and feels amazing. Most low profile just feel... harsh and not pleasant to type on, imo. I love that there are different mounting styles and they went full custom for low profile, something I hadn't seen before. I really hope they produce more colors.

I love this, I think they did this because of the competition from LoFree. The Flow is an exceptional low profile and I think this is even better. Sad about the wired only connectivity.

I'm glad you explained the mayan key caps, how there's a symbol vs no symbols variants. The website and marketing images are very unclear on this.
However, even after your explanation, the website does not make it obvious how to select the symbol or no symbol versions...

    • @semiprotech

The set includes both the stylized/symbol version and the regular legend keycaps so you can choose which ones to use.

Having both Air75 and Air96 along with Halo96, justifying +$300 AUD for the Nos75 is a stretch. However when does logic play a part in a keyboard obsession.

Funny story, I started getting into mechanical keyboards when I stumbled upon one of your Nuphy Air series review videos. I always thought they were too expensive for me to start off with, so I got an Epomaker EK98 barebones kit and slapped on some low profile keycaps from XVX and I’ve been using that pretty much daily until 2 weeks ago when I finally got my Nuphy Air75 V2, after getting about 2 more normal profile mechanical keyboards in between. Nuphy Air75 V2 is my current daily driver, but when you had mentioned that NOS75 created a normal profile keyboard with low profile feel… I felt that it’s something that I was trying to create with my Epomaker EK98 in the first place and I run all my keyboards wired anyway. I really hope they will release tactile switches and more color ways for this keyboard. It’s a highly contested market, but Nuphy has always been known for creating something nice to look at anyway right? :) Thanks for the review and the video, and for getting me into this hobby.

The Lofree Flow with XVX keycaps and O rings basically does the same thing and just as thocky. The problem with the Nos75 is that that Nuphy have clearly rushed the release and its half baked as a consequence:
    - no wireless in 2024 is unforgiveable
    - stabs still rattle
    - no shine through caps
    - seriously overpriced
    - build quality issues
    - south facing switches
Unless you're desperate for QMK/VIA, you'd be better off buying the Lofree Flow for half the price of this.

    • @nonotthaone
      @nonotthaone 2 місяці тому

recently updated to Lofree Flow from Nuphy air75. The typing experience on Lofree Flow is just leaps ahead Nuphy. Lofree Flow is gonna be the king of low profile for a long time. Stock THOCK is unbeatable at that price tag. The only downside is the lack of 2.4 ghz, if they make one with that feature, I'd buy one in a heart beat.

    • @HAIZE7

Lofree Flow has the worst battery (40 hours), no software customization, no 2,4g only BT, only 2 switches that are bound by the keyboard's color...for 160 it's also overpriced

I think its a VERY significant con that they've changed the pin arrangement. Because not only can you not use regular switches OR use these switches elsewhere due to the depth problem, but this also breaks compatibility with their whole history of Gateron based LP switches.
Their most customizable LP keyboard is also the least customizable one on the market... WHY!?
I could understand if the change meant compatibility with conventional MX switch designs, that would be a huge benefit. But it doesn't enable that and I think they would have been better off just staying the course with the gatoron low profile pin layout.

It’s a really nice looking keyboard. I bought a Halo75v2 due your review and others around so no doubts about quality but the lack of switch options and just wired connection make it look a bit pricey for me.

It’s amazing review with high quality information. I personally I used the cheapest Royal Kludge R75 with MDA keycaps and it was amazing even the sound even the typing feel.(you are mentioned on Lofree flow , I need to try even that one)
After looking your reviewed on video at Nuphy Air 75 v2 even me I buy it one with cowberry switches. Nice experience.
I thinking a combination like Nuphy and Royal Kludge combination example like Angry Miao Black Diamond 75..
But I guess I try even this one.

Excellent review on this, have it in my cart but can't decide if I want to pull the trigger or wait on a Halo 65 v2. I did recently put some Gateron LP Banana in my Air 75 v2 and it really deepened the sound quite a bit but these new POM switches look quite tasty! It looks like they are out of the weight right now, I didn't get an wrist rest with my Air75 v2 because they were out and I didn't want to pay 2x for shipping. Hopefully they get some weights in soon.

That's a great keyboard, and an even better review! Do you know where one can buy these new low profile switches (just the switches on their own)? I am very interested in them for ym Bridge75 Plus. Would be highly disappointed if the only way to get these is to purchase a Nos75 :(
The Bridge's front height of just 18mm makes it an ideal candidate for a 75% low profile board, and I was ideally looking for a low profile board with the features of a Bridge or Monsgeek (VIA support, aluminium build, relatively low front height, hotswap & RGB), but there was nothing available for about $125 or lower. These switches would transform the Bridge into the perfect keyboard!

Most of the best NuPhy keyboards are the V2 variants of their classics. This and the Gem80 are still on the V1 phase. This, is an improvement over the Gem80, specially with the PCB-mounted stabs.
Low profile custom keyboards have a general weakness: A small ecosystem compared to the regular ones. The Nos75 with WoB keycaps would look excellent. But there are little classic WoB keycaps available (there's this one set from Keychron).
Also, still no ISO layouts, I know, Nuphy promised some ISO options by the end of the year but is still not clear if it's going to be the cutsom models (Nos75 and Gem80) or the regular ones.
Either way, this looks like a good firt version for a promising keyboard. Lets hope the ecosystem grows.

Besides the missing wireless feature I would miss the 5-th of the side keys: del, home, end, pgup, pgdn. Of course one can create its software config to achieve fn+end=home. But this is just not as ergonomic as having a dedicated home key.

The purpose of a low profile keyboard is to be as close to the desk as possible(surprise, I know). Some people don't like typing on a skyscraper because it stresses wrists a lot. Not sure if 96 key version was made to be extremely portable, it would just defeat the purpose of it.

One measurement you really need to add to your spec list is the height of the home row above the desk. Ideally this should be measured from the top of the switch stem to eliminate variance in keycap height. From the looks of things, I'd be willing to bet this board is not much different that a well-designed board with standard MX switches. And if that is indeed the case here, then you have all of the disadvantages of going with low profile switches without their one advantage.

I am curious - You say the Nuphy is is higher quality than the LoFree Flow? Is the construction of the case/casew basically not the same in terms of materials? The bottom weight? And the gasket mount of the Flow.. What makes you feel this Nuphy is def higher quality? Thanks.

    • @semiprotech
      @semiprotech  2 місяці тому

It's mostly the case quality. The Lofree Flow looks nice, but the aluminum of the case is quite thin, it can be bent or dented fairly easily if you are traveling with it. Sitting on a desk it will be fine, but the Nos75 case is heavy/thick aluminum like you would find on a high profile keyboard.

@@semiprotech Thanks, I appreciate that. I started my low profile quest with the Air60v2- moved up to the Air75v2 and really liked it but settled on the LoFree Flow- linear. It is a joy to type on for me. As good as the Air75V2 is the full pom switches are that much better for me. It is my desk keyboard - I don't take it out much. I added the retro keycaps from LoFree and it feels kind of like final form for a bit atleast. The swtiches on this Nuphy sound pretty good though. Comparable to Kaihl?

I have several NuPhy keyboards but I decided not to buy this one, for several reasons. The biggest is that it's missing two keys compared to Air75v2, and I really need and use all of those nav keys. Then it's wired only. And the switches are incompatible with older low profile switches (I don't really care for compatibility with high profile switches, since I have high profile keyboards for high profile switches). And they're south-facing, again. No foldable feet. All those optional mount and silicone pieces are nice to have extras, but I don't really care about them. Ditto for those different plates.
They took away what was good in Air, in exchange for things I personally don't care about. I'm gonna pass.
