You could build a Shine Bug reactor. Basically locking the Shine Bugs into a 2 tile space with solar panels within the light radius for constant power. Now with the radiation this could be used for everything needing radbolts. The number of Shine Bugs can get out of hand very quickly.
Shine bugs are one of the few ways to use the ludicrous overproduction of phosphorite that dreckos produce, fertilizer production and wheeze warts are nowhere near enough to handle it. Unless you want to export phosphorite to other planets.
Thank you, I love to hear that! I try to keep a nice balance between efficiency and aesthetics. Obviously efficiency is always on top of the priority ladder, but if it looks like crap I don't want to look at it myself, haha :)
"Forcing Luma in the hamster wheel" I never thought of assigning permissions to doors to get leveling experience from my hamster... I mean dupe. Also, the gas compressing and settling in the Drecko ranch,... these devs thought of everything almost.
Love your videos! I am confused on this one. I’m building along with you but did I miss where you explained the settings for all of the automation in the drecko farm?
Thank you, I appreciate it! I did not go too much into detail in this video on the Drecko Ranch because not too long ago I released a full Explained video for this exact Drecko Ranch, I think I mention it in this video briefly. rotate ur sweeper and leave 3 gap in the middle floor place one ladder on each left and right side of auto sweeper, that way one sweeper will do the job of those two. save u 200 refined metal. i usually dont spend time on drecko ranch too much. i just let electrolyzer do the job when i get my 1st drecko . i bottom out he room and let electrolyzer pump both hydrogen and oxygen in there. i dont use atmo suit for drecko early game, they are more suitable for digging into hydrogen/chlorine biome
Theres always a hell of a lot to do! : ) Just copied your drecko farm and it works very good! In my version there was just half of the room in hydrogen, so it was less efficent. Just found your channel. Honestly I hoped that you wouldd explain in german, but I can understand you very well. So everything fine!
There is indeed, haha :D I considered doing the channel in German, but my English is decent since I live in the USA and it expands the potential audience drastically :)
Question from a new player: I see that you are just dropping dirt on top of the farm tiles, will they automatically just consume that dirt? Also how do you limit it so that you don’t put all of your dirt in the drecko farm? Thx so much!
I'm dropping the dirt in, but it is not consumed automatically. The Auto-Sweeper picks it up and feeds it into the farm tiles. I regulate the amount with a conveyor loader, set to sweep only. So only dirt that lays around and has the sweep command applied to it will land in the Drecko area. It's not optimal, but it gets the job done ;)
Thanks! The actual values don't matter to much, it needs to fit into your base and with the number of ranching dupes you have. Mine are set to 10% of the cycle with a 1% interval between them. You may have to adjust that!
I make similar design for drecko farms, but i can never leave no access to the mealwood, because the heat produced by the dreckos tend to heat the place enough to kill the mealwood. i would suggest you make a cooling loop to keep the temperature steady.
@@BierTier - In my favorite game I made a cooling loop for the dreckos, using their phosphorite to feed wheeze warts for the cooling loop. There was so much excess phosphorite from 64 farmed dreckos, even 45 wheeze warts could not consume it all. The cooling was more than enough for much of the rest of my base too. This was before radiation was in the game.
Good call, I just like the different look of the locked doors so I can see in a glance that I actually did it, haha. But you are right, would work just as fine(and more efficiently) your way!
Enjoying the series. Great work. Maybe I can re-install ONI and play it again. Last time I played was in 2018. Question: Can the drecko farm water lock be built one tile to the right, so the whole farm is of the same width as the rooms below?
How do you prevent the heat build up in this setup? I copied this 1-to-1, but the drecko's give off too much heat and it stops the growth of my mealwood.
You are correct, I did forget about the heat issue in this episode. I am fixing it in the next episode though as soon as I encounter the issue. I just build a cooling loop inside the area, using my normal base water. Here is the link to the next episode, I start fixing it at 15:30 there(it has it's own chapter): ua-cam.com/video/F2lB2cj0__M/v-deo.html To make it even more efficient remove the auto-sweepers, put in a ladder temporarily, and put the pipes through the farmtiles. Then rebuild the auto-sweepers :)
you could have used the heavy-watt wire to directly power your coal generator's auto sweepers , no need of a power transformer, less transformed metal used that way
@@BierTier From my understanding it's way more than a little, I think the last one is 200 decor a piece, they're some gigantic decor-bombing, probably you can create a decor-reactor in your living area with those things. But... They eat exclusively barbeque. It really is WAY too much for what they can provide. On the other hand, sometimes you wanna do something just to prove you can.
Hmm, do you have the door in the middle of the build? Those are 2 ranches, without the door in the middle to keep them seperated, the area will be too large for a stable. That's the first thing I can think of. You can give me more details here or join my discord and share a screenshot and myself and the rest of the ONI guys there are always happy to help out with more complicated issues :) discord.com/invite/Cv5mPZFwup

A cooling loop around the entire build is in planning, but that will have to wait a tiny little bit due to lack of resources. Good call though :)
