- When it comes to traditional looks this Sabre 45 Salon Express delivers on looks and also funcaionality. I found her to be a very stable and easy platform to walk around and can see that for a family she would work exceptionally if your inside enjoying the air con or out the back deck with the sun shade deployed.
The technical room with washer, dryer and extra fridges turns this into a vessel that will easily do long cruises should you need and her design means you can be enjoying the cooler climates of Tassie or the tropics up North and enjoy an endless season on this boat.
After spending a day aboard the Sabre I was left witht he impression that this is the style of boat that people dream a lifetime of owning and I suspect if you are lucky enough to get your hands on one of these then you'll probably hold onto it for a while.
Please Enjoy,
Dan Jones

Beatiful with a lot of attention made in the design to make it easy to use enjoy. I like the galley being bright with the windows around. A fly bridge would be nice but it's not a deal breaker at all.
The perfect Great Loop boat!!!!
One of the nicest sub 50ft boats I've seen. A stylish boat, almost a gentleman's cruiser style with all the comforts. Stunning
Agreed! I'll be bringing more to the channel soon actually. I'd put these in the same class as the Palm Beach Yachts here in Australia.
Just spent the weekend up in Harpswell, Maine at the Dolphin Marina. Pretty famous little port in mid-northern Maine. There were three Sabre's docked up. Two from the south. Florida, New York, and one from Canada I believe. All traveled hundreds of miles to get to Harpswell. Our oceans have been pretty rough this summer with lots of wind and rain. These boats and owners really live up to the boat's mission of long-distance open ocean cruising. One of them was a near-new 50-footer. The new big one traveled through a storm the day before to dock up. If I were doing a Florida to Maine trip, one of these or a Riviera 5400 would be my two boats of choice. Made for the open blue. These Sabres are really something up close and handle the northern New England chop with ease. Impressive bit of kit.
Keep up the great work Dan! Loving your work from New Hampshire, USA!
Yes! I agree 100% with your choice and i've heard a lot of good things about the Maine boating culture so very keen to get up that way to visit soon. Thanks for the feedback!
This is a beautiful gentleman’s yacht!
Thanks Dan! You’re on a roll
She’s a stunner right! Easily one of the best offshore hulls I’ve driven! This is a dream boat for me
Absolutely gorgeous boat 👍❤️🇬🇧
Dan - I'm a new viewer - I know these boats well, and you've shown it as well as anyone! Thank you so much for doing such good work.
No worries Chris! Thanks for the nice words!
Great review thanks Dan. Beautiful boat all the mod cons with classic style and amazing woodwork throughout. Fantastic.
Dan, another great video!
Super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dan, just recently came across your channel and was blown away with the depth of your walk-thru detailing, you dont just fly past items as many other channels do. Iv"e subscribed and I"m delighted with your content, keep it up! Thank you.
Appreciate that Mark 🙏… you’re going to start seeing a lot more of it as I’ve recently started doing this full time. Thanks for the support 👍
Mark, Dan has a great channel and so do quite a few others. If you're into yachts and yachting I would also recommend Nick with his channel Aquaholics as well as Tristan with Super Yacht captain. Also, Rico and Victoria with Nautistyle. Also David Seal with his channel featuring yachts for sale and charter besides doing walk-throughs at various shipbuilding yards. I worked a few years as a marine Carpenter for a company in Florida trimming out decks and interiors and also worked for the cruise ship division. I grew up around boats and yachts and love them. It's nice to see how the other side lives. Wish I were there.
I like that it has a door by the helm. That makes it easy for one person to handle the boat.
Agreed!
Love this style of boat, impeccable condition. Thanks for showing
No worries
In a sea of beautiful yachts in the 40' - 50' range I'd pick this one. An absolute beauty. Cheers.
Agree 100%
Wonderful quality build! Great work guys!
Cheers Sam. I'm keeping an eye on all your latest updates too.
Great job ... enjoyed the tour. That's my dream boat. Thanks for keeping my dream alive!
This is on my Dream list too Lawrence. She's such a wonderful ride!
Excellent review.
Cheers!
Really great video of a fantastic boat. Content and description is always first class on these video reviews.
Many thanks!
I actually prefer reviews like this one that don't open every drawer and cabinet. Unless there is something truly unique about the design or operation of one, I don't think it adds much.
Well presented Dan and this boat is certainly an impressive vessel for cruising.
Thanks for sharing your expertise it will certainly be helpful in the future for us.
No worries Mark. I would place these Sabre Yachts alongside Riviera for quality and they are an absolute delight to drive in the ocean.
What a great channel, subbed.
Welcome aboard!
This is one very capable allrounder (after watching the sea trail too). Dan you also provide really good information, delivered with good humor. Testing most of the boats you review is also exceptional compared with other channels. Great job!
Thanks! Appreciate that. This boat made me reralise I need to visit Maine in the US as they seem to be doing a lot of good things with design and construction of cool boats!
Stunning boat, Dan. Pass along our thanks to the owners, please. Assuming a price in the high hundreds (or more, fully equipped), this is the alternative choice to a wealthy buyer simply going bigger, thereby increasing workload and the likely necessity of crew with its added complications. This makes Southwestern Pacific cruising in comfort possible. And you are so right: We certainly don't begrudge our 30,000 miles and 50+ countries/island nations while cruising, some of those miles hard earned. But now it's not just about 'easier'. It's that 'time machine' reward a move to power brings with it that attracts. This is a boat for seamen of both genders who actually plan to stay active in the management of their cruising. Wow!
I will Jack and I'm happy to hear that point makes sense. I immediatly thought of long distance sailors when I stepped aboard the Sabre!
Bloody gorgeous boat Dan. Magnificent even.... haha! S :)
Indeed it is!
That should be 'TARGA 46' NORWEGIAN. as I said, they would be a hard one, about 1m GB POUND. Could be
a nice little sojourn ?
I need to win the lottery 🙂❤️
Have you analysed the TARGS 46 (looks idential to your SAGA 45) ? would be interested to your comparison.
My interests lie in 45 - 50 ft range. The choise of propulsion would be HAMILTON Jets as appendages pose
a problem when you have so many 'BEACHing' situations as we have across the TASSY as you may be aware
Only one thing to ask, can you transform the REAR-DECK into a FISHING PLATFORM??!!! I love the lay out of this boat, just need to fish.
Hmm good question, I don't know the answer. I would say unlikely due to the moulding of that aft seat. You could rig up a transom bar with rod holders on the aft deck swim platform.
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLifeWONDER IF WE RAN IT😏 BY THEM, THEY WOULD TAKE A LOOK??
Low speed for 1000 nautical miles is approx. how fast?
From memory we were talking like 7kts
Importing a boat from the US, was there any problems going from 60hz to 50hz?
So if you import a US boat to Aus without getting it ordered specifically for Aus through a dealer then yes you would have issues. Shore power and Aussie appliances won’t work as an example.
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife so you'd have to install some kind of converter thing I guess
As Dan said, there's a dead simple converter you install. Done loads in the US/Europe.
Oh, and you will have to buy plug converters by the box box of 24. Been there, done that.
Sabres are great boats, I just don’t see what they offer in function and in some respects comfort, over Scandinavian boats like Targa, Sargo, Nimbus, etc….
I think when beauty is high on your priority list you'd pick the Sabre as they are very classy. I've not driven the Sargo or Targa but I have driven many Nimbus boats (which are fantastic) and the Sabre is in a class of its own when it comes to fast offshore cruising in comfort.
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife I dunno man, ever been in a Targa 46? I get that some people like the sort of snotty East coast straight from the golf club to the yacht club aesthetic, but Targa’s 46 has got plenty of teak and will absolutely lap a Sabre without anyone spilling drinks in hand.
Again, Sabres are gorgeous boats, no doubt, and to each their own.
Love the channel.
Nice boat but this style boat demands a dark hull. White just does not do it.
Reason we do a lot of white hulls down here is because of the strong sun
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife sounds reasonable to me. But boy it sure looks better in blue.
Ips is bad for the captain's wallet captain needs cat power with shaft and rudder with large propellers
Yes an IPS is more to run however there is an argument for running the boat with less crew and doing less damage when parking. If you have stepped out of a sail boat with no power experience for example this would be a comfortable transition.
Awesome boat but comparing motor yacht to sailboat by saying that one is better because gets places faster? Silly, it’s like saying that motorcycle is better than bicycle because it’s faster……that’s not why people ride bicycle at first place 🤣
Each to their own I guess. I've been a sailor for the last 25yrs and appreciate the luxury of doing a fast cruise in a motor boat so I guess I was speaking to those people who may also have similar desires to enjoy both power and sail.
Really? Every single button on the dash dude. You skip through some things but point out every button on the helm. 😂😂😂
