2023 Sabre 58 Salon Express - Down East Style made in the USA

- The Sabre 58 Salon Express is special. This is a boat that has been crafted in Maine which is up in Northeastern, United States. This is the home of Lobster Boats and a rich boating culture which whispers style and elegance. The homes by the water and the boats out the front are both opulent but also understated at the same time.
The Sabre is a hull that will run very nicely through all different conditions as I discovered on their smaller model the 45 Salon Express, and with the extra size this model offers, you have some serious options for entertaining, overnighting or serious cruising.
Outstanding is a world I would use for this 58 Salon Express. If you're in the market she is worthy of your time.
As always please let me know what you think.

Great job Dan! I recently ordered a new Sabre 58 downsizing from a larger yacht. Your videos played a big part in my decision. This boat seems to have great accommodations and performance while also being manageable without crew. I’ll post more after its delivery around June 2024.
Great choice Bob!
Now this is what I call a PROPER walk through / presentation 👍. Tx Buddy
Which motor yacht would the experts recommend for a 58 year old, retired, single male, to live on and travel with permanently? I would sacrifice 1 cabin for a work/tinker shop. About as big as this boat
Hi Stefan, there are many good options I could suggest but i'd really need to learn a lot more about you, where you plan to go and what the boat needs to do for you and and potential guests etc, etc. If you'd like you can email me info@dansboatlife.com.au and we can set up a time for a consult?
This is the perfect live aboard boat all it needs is some rod holders , bait board and barbecue out back bolted to the stern rails 👍👍just needs lots of solar panels too
They would improve it. Should be offered as options
They need to offer some integrated solar, she's a beauty, but the hotel load has to be considerable for a boat this size.
That was the best review of a Sabre 58 Salon Express on UA-cam. I appreciated the look inside the tank room and especially the engine room. It really provided perspective on the size of the space. Thanks!
Thankyou, appreciate that. This is one of the best quality boat builders I have on my channel.
Built right here in Maine. They’ve been around for a long time. Looks like they really built a beautiful cruiser. Well done Sabre Yachts.
kudos to Sabre for actually having cabinets for food storage. It’s always missing in this size power boat. And WOW! The cabinets come down to my 5’2” height! You have outdone yourselves. Sabre is always a gorgeous boat, but this is well thought out for long-term cruising.
I agree. If you want to spend an entire summer or winter (in Australia) cruising you could do it very comfortably on one of these and still have ample space for guests to visit and stay aboard.
Nice video with excellent coverage of the many features. Also, great video footage from Jed! I'm just surprised that he didn't trip or fall given the number of cleats and hatches of the average boat deck. He really does nice work. Thanks and I look forward to your video of the factory tour.
I did not expect such big accommodations.
What a great use of space.
Sabre has since posted another video of this beautiful piece of floating electromechanical art. They indicate that the stand-up headroom in the engine room is 5'-7". That's ample room even for us 6'-4" types who are used to hunkering around engine rooms. LOL Thanks again.
Impressive boat and classic US craftmanship. Thanks Dan, great review as always!
Finally a good video on this 58 ❤ hopefully Sabre will have you tour the 48 as well
I have seen many gorgeous 48's including a stunning grey hulled one being handed over in Portland, Maine last week. At this stage no opportunities to test a 48 but if that changes i'll jump at the chance.
They need to do a partnership with you. They are beautiful boat builders but their videos are terrible. So glad you seem to like these downeast style as much as I do
A masters class in boat building, in mechanical & electrical layouts and a cruise director's playground for guests. Wow...
Yeah this boat is a very fair comparison to Riviera 585 SUV. Both very intelligent designs and excellent build quality.
These are beautiful boats, and solidly built. Years ago, a friend of mine had a Back Cove (a decontented sub-brand of Sabre). Even on that little 29 footer, the hull set so softly into the waves, it rode like a Cadillac.
The Back Cove brand is going strong I visited their factory last week. Slightly less advanced as the Sabre brand but wow they are a great piece of kit! Their new outboard range is going to introduce a whole new demographic to the brand.
Welcome to the US Dan. Lovely boat! I’d prefer the Riv for the extra fore deck space, mezz deck and fishable cockpit. But graceful comfy cruising is the job - the livability and craftsmanship of this beauty is going to sell it.
Thankyou, this is an awesome country so pretty happy to be here. Yes it really depends on how you will use the boat when comparing with the Riv. If beauty classic beauty is higher on the priority list you might go for the Sabre or if you want ultimate practical machine then maybe the Riv is better. Both of these companies are at the top of their game in my opinion.
Welcome to the US Dan! I watch your channel here in the States for quite a while. You always do a wonderful job.
Thanks very much! This is my first time visiting the US so very keen to discover it all.

Hey Dan, will you test drive the East Bay 60 when its available?
My wife and I walked through that Boat on Sunday at Newport. Why would they build this without a fly bridge? It adds so much extra space, especially if you are living on it for long periods of time. Great job as usual, looking forward to seeing the factory!
Maybe they will in future perhaps? It would be be a very attractive boat with an open top sport flybridge I feel.
I was going to ask if there was a fly version.
Maybe for the popular Great Loop route . With being inland a lot your height clearance is restricted by bridge's .
Great tour, thanks. Definitely a drivers boat.
Personally, i prefer more outdoor living space, so Riviera fits that bill, but i know it's horses for courses, and this is surprisingly good 👍
What a handsome craft..... such lovely lines and she looks well made and beautifully finished. Absolutely gorgeous. It really feels like a proper BOAT. Just one thing.... where's the bbq for char grilling those lobsters? Great review. Cheers S
I would store a barbie in the aft locker by the swim platform and them mount it on a stern rail when i'm using it and pack it away when not in use as I feel like i'd want to retain the lines and the beauty of the boat as she is.
I would leave off the sunroof or ask for a smaller one and cover the top with solar panels instead.
Welcome to Rhode Island, Dan. I live in Texas now, but I grew up in Rhode Island. I hope you got the chance to each some chowder and clam cakes while you were in RI. What a beautiful boat. It seem much larger than 58 feet. I just found your channel, and I will continue to watch.
Thankyou! I managed to try a delicious crab roll plus fresh lobster dipped in butter which were both delicious! Chowder and clam cakes i'll keep an eye out for that at the next opportunity thanks for the recommendation! Oh and yes she's like 65ft LOA so the 58ft is referring to the waterline length. She's a big boat but surprisingly easy to manage short handed.
They just seem to think of all the little things that add up to major convenience and comfort at Sabre. And as for that tech space under the VIP? GREAT place for luggage, deck chairs, etc. etc. I'm also thinking that super storage "lazarette" in back would be great for folding bikes for shore excursions. I've always wondered how a Maine company has always had a kind of quasi-Japanese style to it with the shoji screens and some of the woodwork patterns like those ceilings in the cabin--did anyone ever tell you the answer to that at the factory? OF course, New England's old time sailing traditions took their people all over the world and maybe they just brought that back with them. Anyhow, just plain LOVE this boat and yours has been the best tour AND test--wow is she quiet at speed and turning at speed! And that lack of consequential bow rise does add marevelously to the visibility--that lobster and crab pot issue is BIG along the Gulf coast and not just in New England and for people doing the Great Loop when they emerge from the rivers at Mobile and cross to Florida they have to be extra alert--with this boat that'd be easy with dilligence. Thanks Dan! And welcome again to the USA!
I agree 100% that the hull design of this boat makes her a real pleasure to helm for long periods. It's totally relaxing behind the helm with the visability, low noise levels and very, very comfortable helm position plus super easy access to the decks makes this design a style of boat that I would recommend to serious boaters.
I also felt that Jap influence but didn't think to ask them? I like Japanese design so it feels nice and cosy in there. Good thinking re electric bikes in the aft lazarette, perfect spot for a pair of folding e-bikes, a barbie and maybe a couble of fenders to keep handy.
Loving my time in the US so thanks for the great welcome!
You got me hooked. Trying to plan a trip from Saint Clair Shores MI to FLA Gulf of Mexico in the next 2 years. One question to do ever clarify the date of your actual travels? I know it’s all current (end of 2023) but unclear between post date and travel date(s)?
So I always put the actual date of filming in UA-cam when I upload so you should be able to see it somewhere. But there is generally a delay of 3-10 days from filming to uploading and sometimes longer. It all depends on where I am in the world and what the weather and boat availability was like
Excellent layout
Perfect time to try some american power catamarans. That is a classy boat.
Super classy! I plan to meet my cousin Stu Jones next week in Florida so hopefully he can educate me on the power cat scene up here. So many brands up here that we don't have in Aus so plenty to discover!
Great video. Your presence on video is natural. As a film professional, I always critique video quality. Small advice, the camera operator should use the 1/3 method when framing you in the video. Basically your eyes should always be 2/3rds distance from the top of frame unless something is being featured. I noticed there were quite a few times the head room was excessive. Most of the time viewers don't need to see the ceiling of any room/property. Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more videos and see you and your teams reviews of the latest and greatest posts. Lastly welcome to the US. Hopefully you go some time to visit Newport RI and Boston MA while in the Northeast US...
Thanks Derek, I appreciate that. So I don’t actually have a camera operator or a team. I just hand the camera to whoever I’m with on the day and I coach them in where to follow me while I’m presenting. Currently i just do all the drone flying, cameras, presenting etc myself but hopefully this will grow to a point where I can bring on a team and up my game even more! I appreciate getting feedback from professionals so thanks. I’m not trained in any way I just talk 😂
Loved my time in the US and heading back next week for more now!
💜🌹💚🇺🇸 A proper vessel for North American waters. Fast ,proven, safe ,traditional ,elegant -like the flag! 🦋🥊⛳
sabre 58 or riviera 585 , which one is your pick ?
Thanks
Very difficult to answer as both equally good boats. I think if placed a higher focus on practicality then the Riv. But if I was more focused on beauty then it’s the Sabre. Both boats will cruise offshore and handle rough conditions in a high level of comfort. Plus both boats can be operated solo or as a couple.
I do believe here in the 21st century all windshields and or sunroof/skylights are polarized so I don't think there will be any need for sunscreen regardless of how much hair you have left up top. LOL. I only know this because my transitions sun/clear prescription glasses will not get dark while I'm driving. Makes it necessary for the sunglasses designed to go over your regular glasses. 😃
Yes correct! But in Australia where we don't have an ozone layer we would still get burned so we would close the blinds.
Classic interior, but larger than it would appear!
great video once again.
Heyy welcome to the States! Check out Portsmouth, NH and Harpswell, Maine if you can!
Thankyou! This is my first time here it's really awesome the boating you guys have around Maine! Such a paradise for boat lovers it reminds me of Sweden and New Zealand.
I love that boat.
She's a cracka hey
Let’s hope you can review the 38 and 43👍
Multiple 43's sold and coming to Australia so i'll absolutely be doing that at some point. If I get an opportinity in the States i'll also do it here too. Really like that 43 as a couples boat. 38 I'm not familiar with but their 372 is legit one of my personal top picks for a solo or short handed proper cruising boat. I absolutely love what that 372 can do for anyone wanting to do a bit of long distance cruising.
Nice boat, what's the price ?
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Budgie Smugglers hahahahaha haven't heard that in so long :)
Yes it's considered a sign of male peak performance lol
HAHAHAHAHAAH @@BoatLife_DansBoatLife
How many millions for this beauty??
Why don’t you quote the prices!?😮
When they give them to me I put it in the description but not every factory gives me the price.
"Budgie smugglers" 20:21 too funny! New slang for this Floridian
Welcome to the USA. 🇺🇸
Thankyou! Loving it here
Pricing would be interesting.
Follow the link in the description to the relevant dealers and they can help you with that.
What a beauty
A thousand apologies, dear friend, for my possibly stupid question...But, is it possible to cross the Atlantic on this yacht? 🙂
No such thing as a stupid question - that's literally why I make these videos. Not really in this boat. She will have decent range at displacement speeds and the hull is absolutely an offshore hull but the purpose is more intended for fast offshore cruising of more manageable distances like going down the East Coast of the US or Australia. Short runs of a few hundred miles at high speed is this boats sweet spot. For Atlantic crossings i'd focus my attention on Trawlers with long range at very slow speeds - Like Nordhavn for example.
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife You are the best reviewer I have found on the net) You don’t just walk around the boat, but you exploit its performance characteristics, I'm delighted!)
Nice boat.
Too bad there's no price in the description
They didn;t give it to me so you'll need to contact your local dealer.
Why can’t I find your Sabre 58 sea trial on UA-cam ?
I stagger the uploads over the weekend. It's up now
Please note that the US flag has to come in when it’s raining and at night unless it has a light on it.
How much
Salam selamat sejahtera selalu tu baik sangat ni kL Malaysia ni hadir tu.mane harga nya berapak wang rm ni Aamiin Aamiin Aamiin
PRICE ?
Do you already have $1 million on the money market account ? If so, you just have to sell $2 million of treasury bonds.
That’s it.
Estimate price ?
I'm not sure. It's best to ask either your local dealer here www.sabreyachts.com/dealer-locator or Bellingham Yacht Sales as it was their boat I was testing www.bellinghamyachts.com/
2.7 btw 3 mil.
As usual, the price can’t be disclosed
Unfortunately with this boat (and many other like her) they had sold out so far in advance that with all this inflation the new pricing is likely going to be higher for any boats in 12+ months time so anything I post here would have been out of date. I do always ask for pricing but for reasons like this (and others) I don't always get it.
Shame the camera operator concentrated on the “talker” and not on the boat.
So I haven’t got a cameraman. I’m just giving the camera to whoever I’m with and directing them while I’m presenting to you
Does it have engines?
👍 🇨🇷
A bit smokin😂
Fanfuckingtastic mate,
Harry Potter yatch😂
Well done on the showing
🇺🇸🇺🇸
Love the boat, he talks way to much
quality craftsmanship, too bad it's IPS....
Was anyone else finding themselves extremely confused with everything after 06:52 ...
Despite being "all he was going to say"
😆 🗯 HE JUST KEEPS TALKING ⁉️

😃 🗯 HE'S AUSTRALIAN ☝🏼
Whats with the copy and paste of the same comment on all my videos mate...?
Dude’s feet 🦶 don’t get cold….
Australian, shoe's are optoinal for us.
Don’t need all the talking my friend, and get the camera man somewhat away from you so we can see the beautiful boat at every opportunity
So I don’t have a cameraman - I just give the camera to whoever I’m with that day and coach them on how to follow me as I’m presenting to you.
If you want less talking try Yacht Buyer - Jack is very straight to the point.
Stop talking about the rain
Please please get your terminology right before you do a presentation! It’s so unprofessional
I'm a one man band so i'm trying my best. Just so you know when the cameras are on i'm managing the equipment, directing the camera operator, driving the boat and speaking to you guys so sometimes my mind reaches capacity and i reach task overload and can't think of the right words. I'm also doing all the drone flying and editing so each video is minimum 20hrs to put together not including all the travel so sometimes i'm also just a little tired. Sorry it annoys you.
Far too much talking, we want to see the boat
Wow, did you come to America JUST to insult us!!!🥴🤡
Apparently we're not the ONLY ones purchasing bourgeoisie cars!!!🙄
Oh we insult everyone… it’s our weird way of being nice. We have rude greetings to our mates that actually mean you really like them 😂
