A New Machine pt 1 /2
They serve as bookends to the instrumental track "Terminal Frost", and feature David Gilmour's voice, electrically distorted, through a vocoder and a rising synth note. The narrator seems to express weariness with a lifetime spent in one body, waiting for the moment of death, but seeks consolation in the fact that this "waiting" will eventually end.
David Gilmour - guitar, vocals
Richard Wright - piano, synthesizer
Nick Mason - drums, tambourine
with:
Jon Carin - Prophet V synthesizer
Guy Pratt - bass guitar
Michael Kamen - orchestral arrangement
The Division Bell Tour, 1994
David Gilmour - electric guitar, lead vocals
Richard Wright - piano
Nick Mason - drums
with:
Guy Pratt - bass
Jon Carin - keyboards, vocals
Gary Wallis - percussion
Tim Renwick - acoustic guitar
Scott Page - SAX
Sam Brown - backing vocals
Claudia Fontaine - backing vocals
Durga McBroom - backing vocals
terminal frost is easily one of my favourite tracks from the album. it's so chill, maybe my favourite instrumental track the band did
I agree. Its definitely my favorite Gilmour solo. Comfortably Numb would be up there also.
Q
I just wish they performed it on tour more often. Not just this one tour.
I always loved this one as well!
My favorite instrumental maybe of all time. Was AWESOME in concert, Scott Page slew the audience!
I love their older music, but Momentary Lapse of Reason is my Floyd growing up. Not the same as my father’s, but just as much meaning. And that’s what makes an epic band, that each generation finds meaning in their art.
Same here, LOVE the old stuff as much as the new but for different reasons. This album came out when I was in HS and it was EPIC to me. This tour was also my first PF concert, life changing event.
August 1988, I was in NY,
I was invited to this concert, Yes! I was there, and always going to be there until the day God calls me, for ever in my memory as a teen in the 80's
same here friend 8th August 88 Manchester stuck in my memory forever
This is what we call a masterpiece 💿
Pink Floyd is just eons above any group in rock history ! There music goes straight to my soul and is truly mind blowing and honestly i cant think of another band that permeates my being like the do !!!
Terminal frost is simply an extraordinary and undervalued work in the post-Waters era, a vital piece of the album a momentary lapse of reason, an album of great manufacture and quality, sometimes despised by the most orthodox fans of the band but in my opinion of what best of pink floyd
Absolutely !!! The Peak !!!
Totally agree! Momentary Lapse was my first introduction to PF when I was only about 12 or 13. When I heard the earlier stuff, I was initially disappointed that none of it was quite as musically ‘rich’ as Momentary Lapse. Of I course, I came to realise the brilliance of the earlier albums, but Momentary Lapse, and especially Terminal Frost, remains a personal favourite of mine. Simply brilliant music.
You're right.
@@bertjilk3456 I was 7 in 1987, my brother bought a CD and I was bored, but two years later I grew up ;)
@ I was 9 in 1987, and my story is very similar!
One of the finest instrumentals ever written. We shall never again see a band anywhere near as a good as Pink Floyd.
I get your point, though I suppose the good thing about human creativity is that there is an infinite source of inspiration inside our souls and we will create many beautiful things of PF tier, but this things will be different. And still these new coming pieces of art will touch us just as deeply...
Da gebe ich dir voll auch Recht ,mein guter .Und diese Zeiten von Damals werden auch nicht wiederkommen
@@ergcironus.vernan new music that is being produced is more generic and of lower quality. the main culprit is lower barrier of entry, you no longer need to hone your instrumental and singing skills to be a popular musician. I just hope for the new AI era so that we can recreate top hits from the 80's
Questo è poco ma sicuro.
Pink Floyd unici al mondo ❤❤❤
@@marusdod3685 Correct, back in the last century record companies would filter out the garbage
It's amazing how extremely good their live performance is. Very often an album version is way better than the live version but they nail it every damn live show. This album was the soundtrack for a great part of my high school period. I'm 48 years old now but every song of this album still touches my heart and soul over and over again and this will never stop. Thank you PF for bringing so much beauty 🙏❤️
i was lucky enough to have seen the Floyd on this tour on the 8th of the 8th 88 and will never forget the experience best live act on the planet without a doubt 😂
not all Gilmour's songs have to be blockbuster hits to be great ...i have like most of you, an addiction ..the need to hear Pink Floyd and Gilmour's sound, voice, guitar ...Music ....Art and Scott Page did such great work on that SAX
Sei gentilissimo 👌
HDPinkFloyd I must love your commitment. It is a weird addiction, to hear D Gilmore’s sing song 😎🇬🇧
I'm with you brother, I don't know exactly what it is about that guy, other than he's an awesome guitarist who makes great tunes, and he was Pink Floyd. Gotta have it...
HDPinkFloyd - Well said. There is nothing he has made that I don't love.
A strange habit I have, because I view all of his music as one big conglomerate....a single interwoven totality....
I imagine the young David, playing/singing the later music....as if everything that eventually came out, had "always been there"....
@@samuelluria4744 Hey, good to have you here again Samuel...and once again good words from a long time Floyd lover
Unbelievable SAX perhaps on of best i have ever heard and two awesome tunes that segue perfectly from a stellar album
That's got to be the sweetest mullet of the 80's.
I kind of feel estranged from the Pink Floyd fanbase after this, because I was told that AMLOR was their worst and I felt it was incredible. Roger’s absence was apparent but David really stepped up, and his playing and presence of those like Tony Levin (my personal favorite bassist) are extremely good to me, which is how One Slip and Terminal Frost won me over. Plus, as is apparent in this performance, Guy Pratt and Scott Page (who I initially perceived as a vampire from The Lost Boys) are great players.
Love the album... it's hard to recreate, but I think Gilmour took his creativity as a musician and made a great record. You miss Waters and his lyrical venom, and Wright playing and singing (more), but still a great record.
I'd argue that " More and Ummagumma are worse"
Bah, they're just full bullocks the numpties sayin that.
Master performance!!!
No need to be an specialist to enjoy this; MUSIC IS FOR ALL OF US!!! No need intelligence.
🙇♂️🙇♂️🙇♂️
Happy birthday mr David Gilmour! We're all so happy of every moment with your music. Antidote to becoming machines.
Terminal Frost is such a great instrumental, totally underrated.
Pink Floyd - everyone else is competing be the second best of all time.
Plus the gals WOW goosebumps all frickin over especially when the sax come in ! Mercy Me exquisite brilliance
3:57 was always my favorite part of this song. Beautiful.
This is the moment of goosebumps.
Yes, YES! It's the climax to all the turmoil and sorrows of the individual being and the world at hand! I agree totally!!! WOW.
Everytime in my mind, it's fantastic!
you're not alone in that. When gilmour hit's those 4 key notes on the strat it just hits you in a special way
To me the sax solo is the climax... although Scott Page doesn't play it quite as well as Tom Scott.
All i ever wanted to see it's another concert by David & Roger 😔🖤
and Nick
and Richard, since its a dream
Never
Guilmour not
Next life, maybe.
I love David Gilmour🎸🎶💕
А он вас?
An underrated song, one of my favorites. Very 80s. :D
It's like the ultimate soundtrack for the 80s.
Extremely 80s! Which is what makes it so great!
Great performance. Great sound. Music for true connoisseurs of classic rock.
These Flying Lights are awesome. The Lightshow is wonderful and the Band have a good time on the Stage. Smiling and laughing form all the Musicans. Great to see this remasters. Pink Floyd at the best.
New machine truly is how i have felt many many times in my life

Dave was in prime voice for "A New Machine." Good stuff.

Finest moments of humanity 💘
Awesome ! ❤️ Pure legend...
Thank you, dear HD Pink Floyd, for this upload and for a great explanation of this composition - a suite of three parts. A New Machine pt. 1 and 2 are remarkable meditations about life and death with the use of the vocoder. Very interesting use of it by David Gilmour. And Terminal Frost, impressionistic instrumental which concluded this suite, amazing. Excellent performance indeed, especially of great saxophonist Scott Page. A Momentary Lapse Of Reason is a very mature work too, of course different, but nevertheless a very special, delicate statement about the state of mind of the Pink Floyd (in a very subtle manner through impressionistic music, emotions that bring surreal images of all kinds of global affairs, for example in songs The Dogs Of War, On The Turning Away, Sorrow) after the departure of Waters. If I can just describe how many years I waited to hear, see this part of Delicate Sound Of Thunder. Amazing, really.
most welcome...its music for everyone to enjoy thx

Great music! Great DAVID GILMORE!!!! Hy from Russia 🤟✌️
Thank you 👍❤🤘
Woow excelente 👌 pink floyd
Great songs as Pink Floyd attempted to move back and find some of their old sound away from the Waters driven albums which is in NO WAY a put down or dislike of the Wall or Final Cut albums. Pink Floyd had to move on without Roger Waters and did justice to their legacy.
Fantastici!!!!
David gilmours response to fans begging for and asking when hes going to make another solo album or go back on tour
I'd go anywhere he does another concert..
This Channel is a Big part of my daily life
Божественно-неймовірно!
Prachtig pink Floyd 40 jaar fan. Nu van gilmour ook goed🤟
I have always been here
I have always looked out from behind these eyes
Feels like more than a lifetime
Feels like more than a lifetime
Sometimes I get tired of waiting
Sometimes I get tired of being there
Is this the way we've always been?
Could it ever been so different?
Do you ever get tired of waiting?
Do you ever get tired of being there?
Don't worry, nobody lives forever
Nobody lives forever.
I will always be here
I will always look out from behind these eyes
It's only a lifetime

Смотрит на нас своими глазами-бриллиантами. Браво! Ждём новых произведений. С признание и уважением Лариса Перегудова-Вишневецкая.
Magica!!!
Балдею с этой темы !
Great song! There is speculation that this song was either about Gilmour's divorce at the time or Roger Waters.
Having said that, the song Sorrow was also rumoured to have lyrical references Roger Waters.
