- Good to know some things stay the same no matter how much they change!
There might be a new badge, but at least I can still trust in the "old reliable" Tornado Jump!
---
In this video Jdaster64 and I check out a ton of details the Japanese website for the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake for Nintendo Switch.
We discuss whatever we noticed and focus on some technical stuff too!
Don't you worry, we also went over some of the new footage that was released. Things went on way longer than I expected so I decided to split this video up so I could upload at least something today.
Stay tuned for the rest of our discussion coming soon!

Inflation even hit the badge shop
for more information look up paper mario inflation
Thanks Paper Biden
I DID THAT!
This is the only badge shop in the game, it's price gouging
Badge and item prices are higher, but let's not forget that it seems like they increased the max coin cap to 9999, so that'll make a difference too
Honestly, I’m happy that they’re more expensive. Money and items were too easy to come by in the original game that I was constantly overstocked on stuff. This’ll give purchases more importance now.
If that's true does that mean gold bars are removed from the game?
Finally a change that makes the game harder...so many other changed they made make the game easier...like holding more items now...15 instead of 10
@@slenderfoxx3797 Don't hold your breath, it's just as likely they make battles drop a zillion coins just like in the later games imo
Oh good, I'll no longer feel the need to fill up my shop storage with gold bars
A GameCube badge? Crap jump? Who cares! The important thing to ask is FX Y yellow now!?
The year is 2024.
Tornado jump still only does 2 damage to all enemies in the air or on the ceiling.
Some things don’t change…
I'm upset at the lack of new badges besides the Gamecube badge, but the rest really looks amazing. Sucks for Tornado Jump possibly being the same as the og lol. Which makes me believe my wish for balancing the Danger stuff won't be granted. Speaking of which, it's interesting they're still keeping Danger activate a the 5 HP mark and not % based like how it's worked from Super onwards.
I mean why would they adjust danger status
@@batofdestiny7801...because that's how it works in every later game
@@batofdestiny7801 I mean they bothered to add dynamic battle themes and a warp room like in Origami King. Any changes that were implemented in later games could have been expected to see
That GameCube badge adds the old soundtrack
@@anthonygarland8839 I know, and that’s sick~
Kind of disappointing they’re not taking the Goombas out of Riverside and replacing them with the Shadow Sirens. And the fact that with exception of the GameCube badge, we’re not getting any new badges. But I’m still looking forward to this remake
yea the leakage didn't make it onto the the cardboard boxes but made it to the floor in that room and also there were some stains in the ultra boots chest room, hazard respawn glitch will also be useless if the pipe rooms are replaced with only 1 pipe room now that spawns the pipes once you get the crystal star.
Badge prices might have risen because of the increase of the coin cap
6:40
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO The 3 random goombas in Riverside Station are STILL THERE, instead of Beldam and Marilyn!!!!
WHY didn't they fix that!!?!!??!?! ;-;
Although that battle background does look different from the one where the Goombas appeared in TTYD. Maybe they swapped the location of the Goombas and will be adding the Shadow Sirens to Riverside?
I know! right?
@yoshiwoollyworld I don't think so, no.
Is it confirmed that those three goombas were supposed to be Beldam and Marilyn or something? And they just got changed late in development?
I kinda wished they make improvements to the Hammer so it’s viable for the whole game. Jump is just more superior for the amount of options you can do with it.
Perhaps ridding the Tornado Jump and trade it in for a Tornado Hammer badge. The more you rotate the stick, the bigger the tornado becomes and able to catch all enemies in its range. Or take the Hurlammer from sticker star and make it a badge too, something to make the Hammer just as reliable as Jump.
That or make Hammer THE defensive piercing tool if you’re skilled enough to nail a perfect timing. I think that be good. Jump for Crowd Control and Hammer for Confrontation with piercing defense if you time it right.
Tbh, I played this game tons of times as a kid and the hammer was my main tool for every single battle. I never liked the jump inputs so I just hammered my way through the entire game multiple times.
The jump is the best, but the hammer is still highly useful, and situationally essential. It takes a long time before you get the two badges that allow you to jump on spiked and burning enemies, respectively, in the game. Before then, the hammer is a must against said enemies, unless you want to rely only on partner abilities. There are also several enemies later in the game that have very high defence (and spikes), leaving your jump abilities ineffective. For these, the hammer badge ability that pierces defence, the quake hammer, and Koops's costly (but powerful) defence piercing ability are the only 3 really good options. Only the latter two in the case of those enemies that not only have high defence and spikes, but also auto-stab you when you get to close. The quake hammer is also honestly just a really great ability all around; Ignores defence, flips enemies, hits every enemy on the ground at once, and causes backgrounds to fall on all enemies for 1 extra point of damage (though also 1 damage to Mario if not blocked...), which will also cause flying enemies to fall to the ground.
There already is a "Hurlhammer" badge. It's called Hammer Throw.
@@fawfulthegreat64 Hammer throw is my favorite badge. Nothing like hurling a chunk of metal at high speeds at my enemies.
@@fawfulthegreat64Too bad it also sucks
I mean Hazard respawn glitch being used allowed you to access certain partners before it was intended like making ms mowz useful for the game by getting her after unlocking flurry or doing a run where you would get bobbery before beating chapter 2 and doing teh flavio party glitch. Its just a lot of fun stuff like that but the flags have probably been adjusted to just not trigger chapters early anymore so i imagine any% runs are likely screwed by the changes and most will want to play on the gcn version.
Oh well, there's still glitchless any%
Kinda disappointed that we aren't getting more new badges. Maybe in a new game?
I hope they make a similar paper mario to this one if they make a new one
There is only one new badge confirmed for this game, and it is the badge for swapping the soundtrack to the NGC version. Basically, the Gamecube that costs 1 coin in the badge shop. Otherwise, yeah, no new combat badges.
I wonder if having Mowz as a partner drops the badge prices a little.
stage props will still fall on the left side, there was footage of Mario Superguarding a basket a shy guy dropped in the japanese nintendo YT channel. it seems unfortunately that timings are ALOT more relaxed, longer than 5 frames it seems
Stage props are random depending on your location, and you could always superguard them
@@AkameGaKillfan777it was in response to what fatguy said about props not being on the left side
I get the feeling they activated Simplifier for for commercials, since they also seemed to be using cheat codes and practice rooms. They needed footage of succeeding at the action commands, so Simplifier would have made it simpler for them.
gah this remake looks so nice, its interesting to see what theyve changed and improved on, tho some of the changes ar a bit arbitrary imo, regardless i am super excited for this remake
Guys, the stage prompts will still fall on the left side. I don't know what gave you the impression that it won't happen in the remake. I also would like to think that the Tornado Jump has improved, but we'll see.
I don't know why multiple people got the impression we thought they wouldn't fall on your side at all. It's that the background elements can now fall separately instead of all at once.
Random thought, i wonder if the happy lucky lottery is actually luck based this time
Hugely doubt since it's a mario 3 reference
@@DannyCheezits How is the happy lucky lottery a mario 3 reference? I know the changed slots are a reference but not the lottery.
@@danielmota3187 Yeah if anything seems more like a reference to mario land games where you gambled for ridiculous stuff like 100up and had to play slots for it and of course the mario 2 slots you played after beating levels.
daddy sakuri already confirmed that it will not be luck based
Tornado jump literally lets you kill grodus in 2 turns
So no hazard respawn glitch until you get flurrie and even then, would it be possible to do the pit before the intended path
Will we get Triple Dip Badge? I remember when I used Action Replay for the Gamecube version, there was unused badges and one of them was Triple Dip.
Autumn Mountain's battle theme being the outro jumpscared me because I've been jamming to that for the past few days lmao
Feels like it should be out by now
thank god tomato yump is still based
What about the battlemaster Toad? Will he be there every chapter explaining the same stuff or will he be covering stuff and enemies from the concerned chapter?
I think its just the same stuff regardless of location/whatever badges you have equipped at the time probably
1:55 those rooms are different i guess, they showed some footage of a singular pipe room now, with 7 pipes in it
The game is build on origami king engine it’s using the same stuff as it on some areas of paper mario thousand year door remake it’s just mix now with original paper mario thousand year door and origami king with now having rpg components
Badges I guess.
Autumn Mountain Battle stays goated.
The remake looks SO good so far!!
Will you make a video of the mayor changes between the GC version and the remake?
Pretty sure game is 30 fps yes
I'm not TOO surprised balancing seems unchanged
Even if it's from different teams, the RPG remake kept balancing almost identical (long live Work Pants Bowser lmao) aside from giving slight buffs to Mallow and Bowser so they weren't completely outclassed by Geno and Peach, and being able to guard single target spells
Video title: "Japanese Website Shows OLD AND NEW BADGES".
Actual video: NO new badges, except ONE that gives you the Gamecube version music...
Did't anyone ever tell you that clickbaiting is extremely NOT cool? I was like, "THERE ARE NEW BADGES!!!??? 😳😮", only to watch the video and find out the badges are still the same...Thanks a LOT for that. Not feeling very keen on watching any more videos from you after that, I gotta say...
😐
It says new badge *Details*. Not new badges.
@@aaronTGP_3756 It does now. They edited the title for the video. The original title was exactly the way I wrote it. I know this for a fact, because I didn't type it out, I copy-pasted it from the video title itself.
Hey! Lucky Start is a GREAT badge, what are you guys talking about!?
tfw a gamecube is 1 coin
if i had to guess
The GameCube “badge” would likely change the music to the old versions.
It does.
@@Old_Gil_Gunderson proof?
@@teaoftrafficIt appeared to me in a dream
@@teaoftraffic It's literally called the "Nostalgic Tunes Badge." It's already been explained in official marketing.
@@teaoftraffic trailer, basic thinking, not being an idiot, being the antithesis of a moron, being anything but you, i could go on, really.
Oh no anyway meme to the thumbnail
30fps
Ian Foomus is not a general help function/system, he helps you with how to tackle the side quests and how to locate the NPC you're looking for in regards to the trouble. That's why he's there.
I kind of figured we aren't getting any new badges (except for the Gamecube music one).
Honestly, I always liked Tornado Badge badge. I never thought it was that bad, and I'm of the opinion that you don't have to play to be uber-powerful (like I say with DND, you don't have to play to min-max). I have fun with it, and that's what is most important. (Though yes, I agree it definitely could be approved)
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Hazard Respawn Glitch will definitely not be in the remake. Someone confirmed Mario doesn’t even fall into the water in this game he just teeters like the newer games.
RIP robot fish
EDIT: Damn it this isn't even true I just saw an official trailer with the fish fuck you twitter liars!
That sucks...Robot fish was fun...😐
That's impossible, you have to platform over hazard water to enter chapter 1
You can't jump in the water? That's how you're supposed to do the glitch I thought
@@peterpeladonyou have to platform over water in several places. Boggly tree and the pirate cave thing in particular come to mind. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a case of only required platforming sections you can fall in the water.
Funny enough this directly nerfs mega rush. Can't just go where you like to damage yourself intentionally anymore.
I thought it was the triforce
I dont get why people are upset about new badges...wait for a new paper mario game if you want an entirely new experience
It's because the video uses deceptive clickbait
