Hi Chris 👏 Fab Savoy cabbage, our brassicas have done really well too. Nice sweetcorn, rats eat all of ours 🙄. Ooooh courgette cake with raspberries sounds delicious. 😋Good luck with your calendar it looks fab and really useful too 👍❤️
Hi Lynda, everything went off in the post today so it should be with you in a few days time. I think 2025 is going to be a belter... that's the unofficial VeggiePlot long range forecast anyway 🤞
I’m well jealous of the sweetcorn harvest! I think I’ve always picked mine too early. Love the sock idea!! The calendar looks awesome! Great idea about the lunar cycle dates! I’ll be ordering one at pay day!!! ❤
Apologies for the late reply, Christmas and New Year seem to have time warped the days away! The socks have really helped save the corn on the allotment, I only wish I had used them on the cobs at home, as they were all eaten by critters! Live and learn. Happy New Year.
Beautiful cabbage mine have done well as well this year ❤I normally don’t plant yellow courgette as they don’t seem to do well in my soil. May give it another go next year
It's been a good year for them it seems, and I shall definitely try these again next year. We're still eating this one 😅 The yellow courgettes are fun to grow, especially vertically which can help with slugs, snails, pollination and powdery mildew.
Yes, I was shocked as they were fine the previous day and then all gone the next. So glad the seeds arrived okay, I hope you love them as much as I do 👍
Squirrels got all my corn too, I suspect it was squirrel at your home plot rather than rats, rats tend to make a lot less mess than squirrels. I got a few decent cobs but left it a bit late, it was starting to dent so wasn't too bothered by the loss, nice cabbage Chris!
I feel for you, it is frustrating after all the effort. I hadn't heard of the term 'denting' so looked it up. Thanks for mentioning it as it's always good to learn new things.
@@veggieplot All the research I've read says it's a variety issue, I've only ever grown sweetcorn and popcorn varieties, rather than feed varieties where denting is common, I suspect it's more related to minerals and/or genetic expresssion, where lacking certain minerals encourages the plants to convert more sugars into starch, I've had it happen twice but not enough consistancy with the same varieties to make educated conclusions, I had the soil tested which showed up some major deficiencies and excesses, something I'm trying to address with remineralisation this winter.
I read up on it and it's a reaction to stress and attack, but I have no idea why yours were so extra bitter. There were several suggestions on how to reduce it on the web. Sometime I prefer to cut my losses and try again next year.

Bloomin rats! I'll be putting socks on the cobs at home next year, have you tried it? It seems to work wonders at the allotment.
Calendar ordered 💚🤗😁 Let's hope 2025 is a productive growing year to fill my record book too 🤞😁💚🏴

The pears wont ripen til picked and stored at home til they soften x
Thank you and you're right, it took a while at home to finish off. I think we ate it in a crumble in the end.
My favorite cabbage savoy that's a bellter 👌
Thanks Elizabeth, I am really pleased with them this year, hopefully they'll be as good next year too.
Exelante job on calendar, I love mine. Thank you very much 😊
Thank you Justyna, you are so welcome 🙏

Thanks Debs
My cabbages developed a very bitter taste and were inedible. Don't know what caused it.
Probably the Bitter cabbage moth x
