The Water Chip is seemingly a direct reference to the first Fallout Game where you play as a Vault Dweller who must venture outside to find a new water chip and save your vault.
I thought it was hilarious! There are so many vaults with malfunctioning water chips through the series.
Let Norm go get a new Water Chip from Vault City.
@@levifeazel5766 It was a nice easter egg for the old guys like me who played Fallout 1 back in the days. After 200 years it's a miracle that anything still works. Most of the vaults are in ruins, just a few have survived and i don't take in account the weird experiments that went on in them!

Another thing: "Maybe", the song that plays when Lucy is travelling through the desert, is the theme that plays during the intro of the first Fallout.
As someone who used to be bullied, I think Maximus wanted to hear something negative because he wanted confirmation of how evil his bully was. He wanted him to prove that he was an awful person who bullied Max just because of how reprehensible he was. Instead, he humanized himself to Max, and taught him the nuance of human evil. It showed how his boogyman was just human, and humans can contain both good and evil inside them.

I appreciate that, when Lucy was in the vault, they kept showing the poster saying "Don't lose your head" and... well, I guess she didn't heed that.
Can we give 80 year old Leslie Uggams her credit for still serving as such an incredible actress.🥰
She looks so much like Nichelle Nichols in the later Star Trek movies with that afro that I kept doing double takes in the first episode. Both gorgeous 60s icons who aged so gracefully. It's nice to see that generation of actors represented in the show.
There's actually quite a lot of practical effects in this. The whole bit with Lucy walking past the ruined ship was actually filmed in Africa, and they only had one chance to shoot it since they had to worry about leaving the appropriate tracks in the sand. Likewise, the confrontation in Filly was filmed in an actual repurposed section of a massive junkyard.

The Water Chip being broken is a nod to the first game where it's the Mcguffin of the player. It's also a long running gag in the series as pretty much all the games has the same plot structure.
"X gets broken/taken away, Player leaves safety to the wasteland, X gets discovered but ultimately a stronger enemy is in the way, Player chooses what faction to side and solves the problem by the way of the faction"
We’re actually watching the story of vault boy which is all I wanted to see for this show
im just wondering why they would have changed his hair color for the cartoon if the vault boy was supposed to be based on an actor lol

The Ghoul’s rule of “don’t get sidetracked by shit” is hilarious because it literally goes against everything that makes Fallout great, getting lost in so many side quests that by the time you get back to the main story you’re OP a hell!🤣🤣

The creature was a pink axolotl gulper if I’m not wrong, first time seeing that type of gulper because they’re usually mutated salamanders

The reason the gulper turned inside-out was because Maximus grabbed the anchor and pulled really hard at the same time he was pulling on Thaddeus. It's easy to miss, but if you check it you'll see a split-second where it shows him grabbing the anchor. Another brutal kill with the power armor, haha
The effects this episode were amazing! It's been so long since we've gotten a show where they have a big monster fight out in daylight and it looked amazing too
1:10 in this universe the red scare and McCarthyism never ended and the Soviet Union never fell and china isn’t just communist in name only

it is iteresting they go into the origins of the vault boy logo and the thumbs up he did. guessing he was the blueprint of it but later do to legal bs left him out, get an artist to make the vault boy but kept the thumbs up for branding reasons.

In that scene, they showed the gulper's eyes dilatating. So I thought the Ghoul's drugs finally hit it's system.
@@jeromebritton5314 When the ghoul first mentioned that was a gulper, I was like "That's a damn gulper?!" That's the most terrifying gulper the series has cooked up. Fallout 4 gulpers look like overgrown plushies compared to that thing.

Haven't watched past episode 3 yet, but I think there's something up with his wife. When he asks if the suits actually protect from radiation, the gives the suits a subtle nod before they answer

So far (as of ep. 3) this is a combination of the stories of Fallout 1 (water chip) and Fallout 3 (search for daddy) with creatures spanning the entire franchise. From the Radroach, to the Yao Guai (mutated Bear) to the Gulper (mutated Salamander/Axolotl)
I'm just waiting for the introduction of an egomaniacal magnate hellbent on turning a once magnificent city into his own personal fortress.

18:00 the way power armor works is it senses the nervous system of the person in it, and detects when your muscles flex to then mimic the movements . Also their are small plates that detect pressure within it .
In the Games it doesnt Nueral Link Backwards like the shoe and none of the lore depicts that.
Thats something the show runners cooked up .

The musical score in the scene where the vault residence are discussing what to do with the prisoners reminds me so much of Westworld. I guess Jonathan Nolan hired Ramin Djawadi who provided the musical score for Westworld and Game of Thrones, is working on Fallout?
EDIT: I just looked it up and holy shit it is Ramin Djawadi as the composer for Fallout. Really glad Nolan kept him, he’s a great composer.

Gulpers are related to salamanders, newts, and the axolotl. But like most things there heavily mutated.
The side track line was amazingly relatable when you play the games. It is funny because it is a open world game and side missions all over. You get side tracked so much that you play 50 hours and still are at the beginning of the main story.

I love the casting in this show. I completely buy all of the actors as the main characters they are playing.
I think Maximus might have made a mistake not being just slightly more honest about the situation. He should've told just most of the truth that happened with Titus and left out the part of him letting Titus die. Completely lying and pretending to be Titus is most likely going to come back to bite him in the butt.
It's too bad that the guy that bullied Maximus shifted the bullying he was getting on to Maximus. He could've tried to become friends with him and Drake which might have lessened or eliminated the bullying at the base. If they formed a group of their own to go against the bullies that would've made things better for everyone. At least that's what I would've done. I've never been afraid of bullies and hated others picking on people. Anyone picked on my friends they had to go through me first.
As far as those raiders in the vault they have to go. They are too far gone to be rehabilitated and they will lose a bunch of resources trying to do so if it's going to take years. I hate to say it, but Lucy's brother Norm is right that they have to be dealt with for the safety of those still alive in the vault. Your first priority in a survival situation as a leader is keeping those under your protection safe. The raiders being alive or set free is not going to do that. You can't lead people with naivety or you'll just get everyone killed.

the vault exit and the desert scenes was shot in Namibia my Nambour country .that town is real swallowed by the beach sand abandoned years ago. It was a German colony named Kolmaskop or "KolmansPeak" .Oh the Power Armor is Real its just Human Powered

interesting on the gulper here. they first appeared in fallout 4 then again in fallout 76 and they are mutated salamanders. so here similar but its an mutated axolotel.
yeah the gulper inner fingers grabs prey and pulls them into its stomach. since it was latching onto the guy then maximus with enough stregnth pull the guy out while the gulper was gripping onto him ,hence its innards got yanked out.
also when maximus was pulling he yelled ad victorian which translate into "to/for victory", a praise the brotherhood of steel say.

I like the optics of the sow, it really looks and feels like the Fallout wasteland, but it does all look like CGI.
I just stopd at E03 ,will resume on the 4th tonight. I really like this dynamic between Lucy & the ghoul ,really hope they become more friendly in the end. Plus the actor behind the ghoul is perfect ,born for this. Honestly I thought in most of E02 ,He was the villain ,until He saved that dog ,and later in this episode ,how He kept Lucy alive instead of letting her get killed as bait. Maybe I'm crazy wrong ,Wonder will he turn up to be a mentor /father figure to her later like Joel & Ellie?
I know most of Y'all here have already watched it ,but I like to keep up my own pace of watching 1 episode per day ,same i do when it comes to rewtaching my favourite movies.
The Gulper is a mutated version of an Axolotl, a salamander with gills and 5 fingered hands. The real ones are super cute, the game ones are a nightmare to deal with.

@@charlie7mason Borderlands features a dystopian society where you have mercenaries and other factions hunting for alien artifacts. Sometimes it involves death races in desert planets where you have lunatics and cannibals wearing masks.
Fallout features factions fighting to survive in a nuclear wasteland which kind of looks like a desert. Vault dwellers are people essentially living in their own bubbles but are meant for experimentation purposes. You have cannibals and lunatics in this setting as well.
In my opinion, they are similar. But with some key differences, of course.
The whole communist = foe thing is a huge part of the fallout game-lore. Whenever you stomble over some pre-war communism-lore (in diarys, old newspapers, messages, letters) in the games they made it so ridicolously exaggerated, its really funny and nuts. Nice satire aspect to the real american fear of communism back in the days (and for some
forever-yesterdays still maybe).

Communism v Capitalism and the Red Scare is a crucial part of the Fallout universe. If they had shied away from it at all, that would be a genuine disservice to what the franchise has been warning us about.

When this cinepals dude sees someone put a stack of cash in a safe or a gun in a holster, he likely spends the next forty five minutes wondering if they put their brain in the money or gun and are now putting them away to download later. The amount of overthinking simple stuff while not getting anything is off the charts. I guess watching too much media can just break a brain to the point where it can no longer just understand a story. His 'thinking' only makes him dumber, makes me sad.

I know it will not happen, but I would love Lucy to become an Assaultron . They are all female and it would be a huge twist if she became P.A.M. like in Fallout 4. I mean why not, they have change many things in the show from the games and imagine L.U.C.Y as a sentient robot, and battle robot!!! But I guess they are going the Lucy MacCready route from fallout 4
In short, your feet are in the knee joints of the power armor and your hands are in the elbow joints.
You essentially stand on mechanized high heels and for your hands there are these mechanisms for your fingers to operate your hands.
