He’s actually short shifting, idk why, dropping to that low rpm will bog down the turbo every time, very noob mistake, he should of wait till he hears limiter or atleast valve float lmao
They were spinning way too hard in first and bogging into 2nd bad. They need to set up that nitrous to spool the turbo at anything lower than like 6k rpm 😅
With a turbo that big running at “low” power you’re way better off with an auto. Otherwise the turbo isn’t spoiled that hard to begin with and really falls off quick on the shift. Especially when it’s spinning in 1st so he was trying to short shift so it’d hook. Let’s it hook, but also drops it way off the turbo.
sounds like hes shifting too early and wheel speed is making him think he needs to shift but after that shift prolly shoots way down on rpm cause you dont really hear a flutter from that big ass turbo
it's really interesting how 90% of the time the tuner guys run their cars on 1000+ HP, but exactly when an event is scheduled, they are always down to power with 200-300 HP. I daily drive my A6 at 450hp map, but for events i boost it up all the way to 600, not back it down to 150.
In the movie it was a 355 spider with 380hp. A 600hp Supra was more than enough. There are quite some Best Motoring videos with real races between the F355 and tuned Supras.
As I agree, car car does make less power and doesn’t have the benefit of consistent tourque like the sf90 due to the ev motor capability, but the supra is way overrated for what it is

If you want to know more about the F&F Supra, Craig Lieberman (technical advisor for the first two F&F movies) made many great content about it on his channel. It was his own personal Supra that ended up being the orange Supra you see in the movie. I believe a total of 8 Supras were used in the first movie with Craig's personal Supra (designated as HERO 1) being the only one that was actually truly modified and made about 650 hp at the crank. It was mostly used for up close shots etc. There was a HERO 2 car which functioned as a backup for HERO 1 and it's unmodified automatic twin turbo. This one sold not so long ago at Barret Jackson auction for about half a million dollar. HERO 1 was the only manual modified 2JZ-GTE, HERO 2 was unmodified automatic 2JZ-GTE, the rest of the Supras were all unmodified automatic naturally aspirated 2JZ-GE models which were used and abused as stunt cars, buck car (used for green/blue screen shots), MicRig (body shell that sits on a flatbed truck for dialogue shots, the in process car (this is the car you see in Dom's shop that had no engine and the burned out one. Craig Lieberman's HERO 1 Supra I believe was sold to an individual in the Netherlands. Edited for extra and correct information.

that Supra launches insanely good but after that it revs up so slow it looks almost like a 200hp car. Idk if it's the driver or the car but if they fix that issue it could beat the Ferrari

They definitely didn't know what they were doing. Spun HARD off the line, bogged hard in second gear for 3 seconds before boost came on. Definitely not the right set up or strategy for no-prep.
I mean anything is gonna have a rough day in a 1/4 or .5 mile shootout with a SF90, they are just so ungodly powerful and light, i wouldn't bet against one unless someone was in a RImac or something.

@butwhytharum nothing at all to do with short shifting.... from 1st to second, you can clearly hear the car dropping off boost and then building it again... which means you could probably tune it out or replace the turbo or use nitrous to spool the turbo
They know that turbo is too big. They need nitrous to spool the turbo but the engine can’t handle that hp right now. The engine was more powerful than they thought it was gonna be so the can’t use their nitrous or the engine will blow

@burn4005 I've watched videos on their own channel... on a drag strip the car did the same thing... bogged down in 2nd so it's not to do with wheel spin
After the 1-2 shift, I could count to four before hearing the Supra get back into boost. I suspect a well setup sequential box would transform the car without any other changes needed
@TherealSoldier_boy I get what you are saying, but if you are drag racing, sequentials aren't the way. Check out any of the fastest Supras online at the strip. They are single turbo, nitrous spool aid.

It's interesting in itself when Chris Harris criticized the SF90's driving feel on the track in every way, and I think he's quite a professional driver, so in the video the owner of the car, who also drove as a racing driver, praises the driving feel in every way. Contradictory. I think it's due to the fact that Chis is more adapted to the analog driving feel and today's drivers, even professional ones, are more used to the electronically assisted driving feel. So they have no real knowledge of what the RIGHT driving feel should feel like.

I think it's due to the fact that Chis is more adapted to the analog driving feel and today's drivers, even professional ones, are more used to the electronically assisted driving feel. So they have no real knowledge of what the RIGHT driving feel should feel like.
