  • Yamaha MT09 2021 - The review from KNOX
    Forged from the Dark side of Japan, the Yamaha MT09 has hit legendary status in the motorcycle world. Its snarling engine and unconventional design setting the benchmark for naked bikes. 2021 sees the Yamaha MT09 and MT 09sp reborn. An all-new engine, heavily revised geometry, and R1 derived electronics. It’s loaded to the teeth and ready to fight it out against the very best in class. But have they done enough? let’s find out!
    In this test, we put the 2021 Yamaha MT09 through its paces, on the beautiful Lake District mountain passes, on the commute and of course had a bit of hooligan MT09 wheelie fun while we were at it.

    • @KnoxArmour
      @KnoxArmour  2 роки тому

      Fair enough, although tbh, I think they only run the SP as press bikes. If it was my own money and there really was a £2k difference, I'd probably go with standard model and buy aftermarket fork internals and shock.. Thanks, Aaron KNOX

      @@KnoxArmour Didn't mean for that to sound like a dig. It's a cracking review as usual. But I know what you mean. They want all the heavy focus on the SP model. If its 1200 difference retail you'd probably sway for the SP. But when it's 1600-2k difference I think your right mate. Plus the all black looks mean as hell. Cheers for the reply

    This is a stand out review. You cover details that other reviews don’t go into detail about or never touch on. So many of them just use the press materials. The description of what makes the bike good/special is convincing enough to make me forget every other bike on my list. I hope you do more reviews like this. The MT-07, Z900 SE, Tuono V4, or GSX-S1000 would be excellent choices.

I am pretty good at keeping my cool in sketchy situations and it came close to giving me an oh shit moment thanks to some broken road chattering the hell out of it. Overall I couldn’t be happier. I owned the 2017 model. I adhored it although the front forks were soggy, the seat gave a sore bum after 2 hours riding and the headlight was awful in the dark. This upgrade addresses these issues and throws a load more tech on for good measure. People moaning at the TFT size but I disagree on account that the naked aesthetic view over the bars can't be compromised with a bigger screen.

    So put it on 2 lift control and it will ride a wheelie through several gears without looping it? Mine is a 2021 regular MT09 but just feels like it is going to loop. Trust me I'm used to riding wheelies on bikes and drag racing cars. Just not sure or I should say confident about the different levels cause I will have to go back through my camera's to find it but with it on lift 2 or 3 it was close to noon angle 🤔 💯. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but it was definitely way too high and was still going up on this setting. Should I take it back to a dealer and see what is going on with mine? I could actually working on my other bikes but on this bike it wants to loop feels like. Thanks for any advice

    You pretty much lined up all the reasons I bought one. I was going to buy a 2nd hand MT-10 but they were too expensive. I came off a WR450F supermoto so this was very similar in feel and hooliganism. The value for money on this bike is nuts. I don't know of any other bike from a major manufacturer that comes with the same amount of kit (IMU, cruise control etc.) for the same money. The only thing that drives me up the wall is the steering lock. I'm usually really good at U-turns but when I do them on my SP I look like a noob!

    Ah but with your money which one would it be? KTM 890 Duke R or the MT09SP…..

      Honestly, the KTM no doubt as its just more all round fun, handles better, feels lighter and has much better brakes. But the MT09 is still an incredible bike. Thanks, Aaron KNOX

    Fully agree, the MT-09 seems to be at prototype level, no matter how well it performs. With 200$ Alibaba parts it looks acceptable now.

      😂 I guess it's built to a cost. If it had a premium finish it would be more expensive, I'm quite happy with the small tft screen, non hidden cables/wiring, horn attached to the headlight bracket and gaps in the frame that you can see through if it has saved me a grand. Easily overlooked.. You aren't looking at these things when you are pinning it and grinning ear to ear.
