(8:15) Soldering that center pin of the Fan Conn, in the shape of a letter "L" (right angle) was very clever. I liked it. SMPS damaged by a "guest"? How odd! That never happens on this channel. Seriously, both repairs are excellent, the one I like to see the most is an SMPS because they are always successful with you. A sincere congratulations. Thank you very much for sharing sir. It made my day. All the best.
Good job m8. I fixed one a few weeks ago using clipped resistor leads as well. I also like filling the area where the trace ripped off with conformal coating, just so it looks neater. Definitely stronger than factory 😅
You get these on ebay as a fellow electronic tech i see them listed and always wanted a ps5 and to get one for a lesser amount of money that needs repair would be fun however the prices on dead units is astonishing to me they want half if not more for a dead non working.... 😊
I have been using an 8.4V rechargeable Lithium Ion battery. I have 2 with USB-C on the side. I keep one charging at all times and just swap between them.
Hi mate i have a ps5 that someone has shorted the connector (ripped off) so instead of 450/GND/450 im getting 0004/GND/405 my question to you sir is do you know where the fan connector leads to what chip ? i was going to feed low voltage from the 0004 and check where it heats up with thermal cam but thought id see if you have come across this before thanks :)
@@ToltecMerc Thanks mate alittle update for you as you were kind enough to mention SB i measured PWM on another board and removed SB and boom measurement gone so it gets controlled from SB :) replaced southbridge with the one i pulled and shes back working :)
@@EUCRAZY_AU that’s good to know. I have a board with SB and APU removed. I need to check it again with continuity mode. There may be a resistance in series. That could be why I haven’t found it.
@@ToltecMerc please keep me updated if you find anything 💪 also there is a giant pad on opposite side of fan connector for PWM if you ever need it for a ripped pad.
@ToltecMerc you knocked the trace in the left side of the frame with your Drexel is what I think he's talking about. May need a little solder mask. I think the time stamp is a little before 4:33
what happened to small cap on the ground mounting of the connector next to the 4 via,s .its there in 4.39 . but gone in 4 .41 ???? is it important ,can it happily live without it :) or do you already know ,and im being anal lol :P hahaha p.s i like the small round rods on the connection,s .genius :)
There are parts changers and there are technicians..... you, sir, are a level above all of those. Great repair.
Wow, that's very kind of year! I'm glad you enjoy my videos!
That fan connector repair is the best I have seen so far.
Yeah new one for me 2
I'm glad you like it! I think that should last a while.
Another great repair. I like the new lab jam music hehe :)
Thank you! I do like to switch up the music when I can.

@@ToltecMerc Yes Sir we sure do believe me 👍👍
That fan connector looked fiddely. Glad you got it sorted.
It probably took longer than it should as I was trying to make it look pretty.
great repair again, up to the next one
Thank you! There are plenty more coming!

Awesome work of the ps5 king
Thanks! That's very kind of you to say. I'm just a technician doing my best.
Because you absolutely deserve that.
Enjoy your video's, how you do the repairs and your knowledge great!!!
@@niels5207 thank you very much! I’m glad you enjoy!

Thank you! I have a ton of clipped resistor leads and they come in handy.
Just have to ask, what do you do with all these PS5's? Really curious? I am addicted to your channel, sucks when you take time off!! LOL.
They are sold on eBay.
good work
Thanks so much!
Good job mate 👏
Thank you so much!
Been looking for a variac power supply for
Awhile. Those old golden ones are hard to
Find!
I picked up mine off eBay a few years back. It has gotten the job done for me.
Brilliant video, thanks so much. I can't stand it when fixers just replace the power supplies, scared shless of AC voltage.
Thanks! I enjoy power supplies!
Good job
Thank you!

Good video fixing the power supply
do you have link to good source of chips?
I just buy TEA2016 and TEA2017 from Mouser.
Hello teacher, what battery do you use for your multimeter 8.4v or 9v ? thank you ❤

I assume the fan control comes from the South Bridge but I have yet to confirm that.

What do you use to apply the dummy load on the bench PSU?
Can you try to repair a ps5 with error CE 108255-1
I think that error can be caused by a lot of things. I'm not sure if there is a definite fix at this point.
@@ToltecMerc seen a couple of people fixing it by changing ram modules
Haedware bug!
True! An all too common hardware bug!
A trace got exposed next to fan connector

I damaged it with my grinder so I just removed it. It's just a tiny bypass cap on the 12V rail. It can live without it.
