Hello Steve ive not been around for a while, glad your still fixing items. Would it not be the hot air gun causing your camera to shut down due to the heat? I know there not keen on heat just an idea, a mate of mine also has a UA-cam channel who does videos whilst hes fishing and his cameras sometimes shut down in the summertime when its hot, im not electronically minded cheers.
Great job zeroing in on the problem so quickly. I had the exact thoughts as you. Clean caps that probably aren't old enough to fail yet, but voltage regulators love to die (They pass a lot of voltage and heat!)
Another great video but it would have made a more interesting repair if you had swapped out the MOSFETs separately to determine if the low reading MOSFET or the O.L MOSFET was the problematic one. The camera disasters probably didn't help with the process though 👍🏻
Good work Steve, I had the same issues when recording via OBS my audio after recording would crap out but at random, after many failed videos I finally found the issue, it was the USB PCIE expansion card... Your issue is probably not the same but also worth a test and check!
The easiest way to quick test MOSFETS with a ''multimmider'' is to first check that it's not shorted, they mostly go short circuit when they fail. After that, to do a crude and quick switching test is to short out all the pins to discharge the gate capacitance first, then in resistance or diode mode (try both to see what happens) connect the positive to drain, negative to source, now short the drain to the gate for a second. The reading on the meter should change. Now, short the gate to the source, the reading should go back to what it was. Basically, what happens is that MOSFETS are ''Voltage Controlled'', i.e. a voltage at the gate changes the resistance of the channel between the drain and source, they go to a low resistance when switched on. The reason for shorting the gate is that it has a VERY high resistance, in fact, it's a small capacitor, and the charge on that ''capacitor'' will keep the device switched on. Shorting it out switches the device off and the reading on the ''multimmider'' changes. Get a few MOSFETS and have a practice to get the feel for testing them in this way. It's not foolproof, but with a bit of practice it's a really quick and easy way of testing MOSFETS, in my experience.

Steve, does your cameras appear to only shut off when your soldering? That may be a thing there. We never see it go off when your just inspecting and probing. It's not until you're soldering.
You should try to find and repair an UPS to keep your cameras well powered :p If you use a powerstrip, check it. My one failed (ok, it was a piece of crap, but it was cheap ! ...), in two ways : one day, I started my soldering station, the sound on the PC was affected. I was not worried about this, then I use it again several days after that, and no power at all (I was going to check the station then remember myself saying to all clients "did you check the power cable" so...). Anyway, that affected some electrical components not directly plugged into the same strip For the record : this powerstrip cannot be opened with love, so I have to destroy it
I wondered if there was some glitching going on, like perhaps a dirty switch on whatever main power strip he was using or plug or something. It's odd to have 2 different pieces of equipment act up in the same way within a short period of time. I lean towards something failing that's plugged into the mains.
