the Blackbird was a recognizance air craft, though its one of the most famous air craft in the world, it wasnt particularly feared as much as say, a nuke dropping Superfortress
Funnily enough, by the mid-war, the Jericho Trumpet had actually become a sort of joke amongst allied soldiers. Stukas had become so outclassed by allied fighters (and the Germans had lost air superiority by this point in the War over most combat fronts), hearing a Stuka generally indicated the death of the Stuka before they could actually deliver their payload.
Um…you may want to review your specs about the P-51 Mustang’s top speed. You’re off by about 100mph. This is a plane that shot down more than 1 ME-262. You may also want to include the Fokke-Wulf 190; a formidable and arguably better plane than the BF-109.
AmazingViz, you forgot one aircraft in WWII: The F4u Corsair. A life-saver for American and Allied soldiers and sailors in the Pacific, it was feared by the Japanese due to its brute ruggedness, speed, firepower, and a horrendous shriek in a fast dive that earned it the nickname "Whistling Death."
If any it was the Hellcat, because it was the first US plane to be superior to the Zero. By the time the Corsair entered into widespread service the Air War over the Pacific was already won, with the Japanese having lost their best pilots to Flak, Wildcats, Hellcats and P-38s.
@@schnitzelblitz96 Yet, if you read aviation history, you will find the Corsair did more than just fight in the air. The USMC used it in close air support extensively both on the ground and in anti-shipping. Plus, don't forget that the Corsair dropped well over 12,000 tons of bombs through out the Pacific, and was tasked with fleet defense against kamikazes (which is why the Corsair was bestowed with the title "Defender of the Fleet"). Yes, the F6F Hellcat shot down more planes, yet it still was found wanting in some respects, like speed and rate-of-climb. Also, whenever the "Bent-winged Bastard" took to the skies, it was easier to recognize by both sides.
Stephen Roberts Well all fighters of the time did also do ground attack roles but of course the Corsair excelled in it. Dont get me wrong; the Corsair was a brilliant airplane and did a lot of valuable service to the USMC and - once they solved some of their landing problems - the USN but the war was won in the great Naval battles of Coral Sea, Midway and around Guadalcanal. And there it were Grummans Cats, the Torpedo Bombers and Dive Bombers that did the job. By the time the Corsair was introduced it wasnt a question of IF the US were to win the war but when and at what cost. And yes, the Corsair did a great job at assuring the latter was as low as possible plus it gave valuable service in Korea. But it simply didnt have that decisive impact as the Wild-/Hellcat or - on a different campaign - the Mustang. It is a beautiful bird though, absolutely.
f117 is not the only aircraft dared to fly over baghdad, Iranian brave pilots flew over baghdad several times with phantom f4's and almost without stealth abilities as f117 has!
The Flying Pancake, prototype aircraft by the US that was disbanded with the introduction of Jets The Glider Tank, proposed by the Russians that was disbanded for obvious reasons
The only one I might have added to the Late WWII era planes (1943-1945) was the Vaught F4U-1 Corsair. It achieved an 11:1 kill-ratio against the Japanese, mostly against the vaunted Mitsubishi Zero and, in its fighter-bomber role, dropped roughly 70% of the ordinance dropped by fighters in the Pacific Theater. In low-level attack runs, it had a weird propensity to give off a high-pitched sound as it swooped by; anecdotally, the Japanese gave it the nickname "Whistling Death."
The F4U was, if I remember correctly, the only US aircraft faster than the P-51. Apparently, it was a bitch to land one on a carrier, but the Marines flew the hell outa them.
Nice video. I would also recommend the Albatross D.III (1917) as a candidate for wrecking havoc among on the Western front before older types could be replaced and production of new planes accelerated. I also think the Ju-88 merits inclusion for being a tough and capable medium bomber during the Battle of Britain and later a very capable night fighter. Similarly the Fw-190A when introduced gave RAF pilots flying Spitfire Mk Vs a rude shock with its superior performance and firepower. The Bristol Beaufighter is one of those planes often overlooked, but was deadly in anti-shipping and ground attack. Later the Blackburn Buccaneer (1958) was a credible ultra-low flying threat to Soviet guided missile cruisers, and in Red Flag exercises proved formidable until the advent of look-down shoot-down radar systems, finally retiring in 1994.
The Albatross series were by far better aircraft than the Dr1. I've read that Richthofen complained loudly when his unit was switched from the Albatross D.V to the Dr1. They also omitted the Spad, flown by the US top ace Eddie Rickenbacker (among other top aces)
Eric Olsen it's probably the projected lethality of the aircraft Example supersonic speed, high altitude capability and ability to carry bombs Is what made the XB-70 A dangerous aircraft. even though It was cancelled and became stuck in prototype phase.
5:32 the XB-70 never actually saw service, that's why it's called the xb-70, not the b-70, it never got out of prototyping, and only 2 were made, the first could only go up to mach 2.7 due to problems with the exterior, and the second one exploded in a test flight.
I think the sr-71 blackbird deserves a spot on the list. It may not have any offensive capabilities, but it’s insane speed and stealth made it invincible. Definitely one of the most feared aircraft ever.
I find it funny how they made the MiG 25 AND the MiG 31 specifically to take out the Blackbird but 1. They couldn’t reach the Blackbirds altitude and 2. Even if they shot a missile off the Blackbird would be able to outrun it.
@@juantwothree321 Even now it's unlikely any aircraft could reasonably threaten it. None of the current fighters even come close to its speed, and very few missiles could close the gap either. F-22s and F-35s could likely detect it, but not necessarily stop it.

It was plane filled with explosive materials, pilot's task was to fly to the target, make plane crash into it, jump out before that and then come back. After 5 successful flights pilot received a medal. I'm not sure is everything is correct.
3:42 min. mark. Is that the real max speed of 250mph for P51 mustang? Based on my source, it can achieve maximum speed of 450mph. Hope you will notice this.
I’m surprised the BOne isn’t up there, otherwise known as the B-1 Lancer. It’s one of the lesser known planes, I’ll admit, but it remains one of the most capable and coolest flying machines still in service. It’s got everything you want in a bomber, it’s got plenty of stealth, it’s got swept wings allowing for a top speed of Mach 1.2, allowing not only for supersonic speed but also an incredible range. It can also fly low and slow to penetrate enemy lines. It has proven itself as a great platform for all sorts of air-ground missions with capabilities for many different types of bombs and missiles. The sleek looking design is just a plus of all this

@Drew Peacock f14 has same or better combat range, same speed. Radar and infrared is not Superior on the typhoon after what i researched, true that the T14 does not have targeting pods. Typhoon is probably better at air to ground targeting.
I think the creator was specifically referring to the top speed of the P-51 Marks I and II in the video, which had Allison V-1710 engines. The Allison engine was later outclassed by the Packard/Merlin V-1650s, which were added to variants from the Mustang X and P-51 B and C’s onward. The Merlin is what gave the P-51 its top speed of, yes, 440 mph, and is what allowed the Mustang its superior performance reputation. So, you are both correct.
Yes but it was definitely feared. The Russians scrambled to develop, and proceeded to make thousands of mig-25’s just because of the threat. So I’d definitely say it was feared it caused development of a fleet of pretty radical fighters to be made

AmazingViz, you forgot one aircraft in WWII: The F4u Corsair. A life-saver for American and Allied soldiers and sailors in the Pacific, it was feared by the Japanese due to its brute ruggedness, speed, firepower, and a horrendous shriek in a fast dive that earned it the nickname "Whistling Death."
and maybe also Republic P47 Thunderbolt
And the P-38 lighting

We need a comparison for the weirdest machines ever
There is one of weirdest planes by this channel
The Flying Pancake, prototype aircraft by the US that was disbanded with the introduction of Jets
The Glider Tank, proposed by the Russians that was disbanded for obvious reasons
Hellcat had a 19:1 in the same region against the same opponents and in fact is the highest kill ratio of any US plane
@@borsniel7767 True, and it was a beast. Not as cool to look at, though, imo. Definitely a workhorse with a nasty bite.
