Great finds! I think the best thing about thrifting is that when you find something that you really love you get the item and the memory of finding it and the joy of knowing that it's perfect for your house and that it is a steal and you are not likely to see the same exact thing in your friend's house.
I bought a punch bowl by Lenox Holiday pattern after Christmas (perfect condition) half price. It was $5.00. On Replacements it was $500.00. There is nothing like that to find textiles. Fine American Art can help find art that is valuable.
💕💕💕💕💕Everyone in my house knows to be quiet and to leave me alone every Tuesday morning so I can have my cup of coffee and watch Sherry's channel! 💕💕💕💕I hear whispers- " Shhhhhhhh, Mom's watching Sherry!" 😂 💕💕💕💕 Loved this episode and you!! My Grandmother Louise started me thrifting when I was a little girl and I never stopped. I hardly ever buy new to decorate my house 💕💕💕💕
My grandmother had an Afghan with the granny squares and black trim just like the one you have. I keep looking for one like it. She always kept it on the back of her sofa. Great memories! 🥰
Thank you Sherry! I loved it when you said you love thrifting more than shopping at Walmart. I too find the thrift store so nostalgic. It’s a walk down memory lane. The older I get the more I enjoy surrounding myself with the things I love more than what’s the trend at the moment. My husband also enjoys thrifting, he is very supportive when I ask to stop anywhere we happen on one.
I’m drawn to thrift store Books, clocks, trays, teapots, small paintings. Everything in my small area is reminiscent of by-gone yrs and the best job I ever had as a library employee 40 yrs ago. If I could live in a library… ❤
Hi Sherry! Such a fun field trip! Over the past year, I have become an avid thrifter but this video helps to collate randomness into categories of usefulness. Clearly you have the "eye" for finding items that will uniquely come to life in your home! However, the thread in this video that resonates the most for me is that you buy things that you love and that also give voice to the personality and character within each vignette of your home. You have reminded us of this defining guideline for thrift shopping which may pull us back from the brink of "thrift hoarding." Thanks again for this inspiring guided tour!
Good morning, Nancy! What a lovely thing to say! 🥰 Hoarding can be a problem. It was really hard to pass up those Golden Wheat dishes, but I definitely don’t need more dishes!
The most important theme here is that you have found your passion in life and nurture it. It’s obvious it truly makes you happy and content. You know how to position them to form a theme that creates beautiful decor, interest to the eye and historical significance. I’m sure many a lively conversation was made around these objects. And we’re the fortunate ones who are the recipients of your knowledge and talent. I love those beautiful ornate frames that are really hard to find in my thrift stores. It’s a hit or miss situation for sure. Looking forward to the next video!
You are lucky to find so many treasures. Here in England I have filled my very small home with thrifted finds and love its originality. I just love old things.
I agree that the quality is often much better at a thrift store than most modern day stores. I love finding wooden furniture or antique items for under $20. I think my favorite is the wooden cubby on the wall and the wooden school table.
Sherry. I couldn't agree more. If you are lucky enough to have a GREAT thrift store with quality items you can do well. Sometimes you have to travel to find that kind of thrift store. Steaming pillows in your dryer is a great idea. Didn't know you could so that.
My husband and I love going thrifting! We have helped decorate our youngest daughters home with some thrift store finds...spray paint is our friend! Lolol it's funny but true! The metal decor pieces are beautiful and inexpensive! I agree with the feelings of nostalgia when seeing items that are from our childhood, you don't get that at Wal-mart! Thanks for sharing your finds with us!
While watching this video I’m browsing around my home and with the exception of the RH sofa I bought 25 years ago everything in the living room, kitchen, dining room and den are either thrifted, found or have been given to me. It’s good to know there are others out there like me.
Really interesting video! I have been a thrifter for about a year, and I am amazed at what I find. I can’t believe people are donating it. But then I remembered some of the items I’ve donated and realize that “One man’s junk ……” 😉 I share your love of birds, I can hardly pass one up. Thanks for sharing! ~ Linda
Wow. Your collections are out of this world. I love thrifting. My husband chuckles every time I say I only paid $5 for this…. Item. I’m proud that I have nice vintage and antique pieces that were scored at a true bargain.
I just love thrift store shopping. When my Mother was alive, that would be our favorite girls days out. I still love going out thrifting my siblings! I hope that one day, my children grow to enjoy it as well!
You made me smile when you mentioned that it must be a sign of age because you never looked for dishes until you got older, that is exactly me! Now I can't resist a plate or cup made in Prussia!
Oh I loved this! 95% of what I have is second hand and couldn’t be happier! People are surprised that stuff is second hand and I love getting things on the cheap.
Hi Sherry, another great episode. I see more and more people thrifting these days. Sometimes it’s slim pickings. I’ve gotten some really good things for next to nothing. I’ve always done this and I am 72 years old. I’ve been restoring furniture and repurposing things all my life. It’s such a throw away world and there are some beautiful things to be had out there if you just have a creative eye like yours. This is a very good informative video. Thanks again Sherry. Have a great day
Jackie, you are so right! There are definitely more people shopping thrift stores these days. When I started 40 years ago, the only people I saw there were poor folks like me!
I do the same thing with white dishes, and it makes it so much easier and fun to buy a couple of seasonal pieces to mix and match with for the holidays.
....I love that I have been a " Thrifter ' since I was in HIGH SCHOOL. 😉😊... it was like a fun adventure to go Thrift Store shopping and see what one could find. ... I was not aware, even during my 20's and 30's that in later years it would be so embraced by younger people. I taught Thrift shopping to my daughters and that was from an early age, lol. Loved this episode, Miss Sherry!
I am SO hooked on your videos, Sherry! How wonderful it is to share the joy of thrifting with a community who also appreciates the "good ol' days" and the things that inspire cherished memories! I absolutely LOVE your home and am continually amazed each time you give us a tour! I couldn't begin to say which part or items I like best; it's all a perfect gathering of beloved and interesting treasures! Thank you for your fabulous videos, for inspiring us, informing us and challenging us to carry on the thrifting tradition! There! How many descriptive adjectives have I just used!!??!! :D
Oh, Sharon, you are so so sweet! 🥰 Thank you so much! I am so happy that I can share my home and some decorating ideas with you each week! I do think that I have the best community of anyone on UA-cam!
Sherry, you are such an inspiration. Your upcycled products are by far the most beautiful and imaginative of any DIY channel that I watch. Your thrifted finds are so whimsical, and your taste is so much like my own. I feel Blessed that you are in my life...so to speak. I happened upon your You Tube channel at a time in my life when I desperately need something to look forward to each day. Although I work two jobs, and am very busy, I needed something to give me a bit of joy during a very dark and trying time. Thrifting and upcycling have become my passion and my saving grace. Thank you for all that You do. To me, you are truly an Earth Angel! God Bless! From Lynne in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada
You are the best thrifter on UA-cam. I have furnished my home, cottage , farm and Florida holiday home entirely with thrifted items. I have saved a lot of money doing so. But I do have to say my favourite Is Habitat for Humanity in Delray Beach in Florida. I get so many wonderful ideas from watching your channel. Keep up the great work Regards
Sherry, that cat clock, the pillow with the blue birds and that AMAZING laundry basket on the wooden wheeled base were my favorites! This was such a fun video to see the prices and the items in your home. I always look forward to spending a relaxing few moments with your Tuesday morning videos. Thanks for all of your hard work and sharing!
Always a fun treat to watch you! I had to chuckle when you still had the price tag on the back of an item! I do that to remind myself how SMART it is to thrift. As a single mum of 8 I am thankful thrifting is such a fun thing to do. AND, I love that I am teaching my kids the importance of being wise with our money!!! Thanks, Sherry! OH! And, the old pencil sharpener!!? That INSTANTLY took me back to 4th grade, wearing CLOGS, and getting in trouble for clomping over to the pencil sharpener in class to sharpen my pencil every 2 minutes!!! Haha!
You sure did you are a great inspiration. I have been shopping thrift store or antiques, but I have so many that were my mothers and grandmothers. My grandmother was born in the 1900s. This attic was full of antiques so a lot of that I display always displayed antiques and even since my children were little always, it’s my favorite And I like to put a second life to items as well
I really enjoyed seeing your clock collection. They are positioned just beautifully. Not too cluttered and very interesting to look at.. Thanks for another great video...
Oh Sherry, I would definitely go back and get those lamps! I went to Goodwill last week and looked at a huge heavy cast iron light fixture. My cart was full with a piano bench and a pretty art piece so I left it. I could not get it off my mind. So Sunday afternoon I went back to GW. Low and behold, the fixture was still there. I put it into my cart immediately. For $14.99, I can’t wait to do something with it. I check out the frames and art section too in every thrift store I go to. Love the bird painting. I totally agree that it is the thrill of the hunt when thrifting.
Love the red leather chair & slipper chair. I always gravitate to red so the red & white dish collection are a favorite. The Strawberry dishes are the perfect update. The repurposed blue entertainment center is lovely.
Oh my goodness that black afghan brought back memories-my granny had one she made and it's actually the only thing I remember from her apartment. I loved it! I loved your bird picture gallery-just wow!!
I love second hand shopping! So many items that remind me of my childhood as my parent's generation passes, and their children, or grandchildren often donate much to the thrift stores. Nostalgia! However, my house is smallish and there just isn't room for much more stuff. Thanks for the great ideas!
Excellant video Ms Sherry! Love the phrase that often thrift shopping evokes pleasant memories, and that it doesnt happen when you shopat Walmart! Amen sister!
I have always thrifted. My mom did and now my children do, too. We did our daughter's wedding thrifted! Patience and shopping out of season have always proved helpful.
I think thrifting for the special pieces in your home is fun but also makes your home original. Other people wont have an identical home like yours. My sister found me an antique trunk for 8.00. Its priceless to me. I love pieces with a story. Your big chunky wooden lamp was a great find!! I love it. You have so many treasures. I collect sheep and stools. I just love stools!!!.
Isn’t it funny that when you find a great deal, you always remember exactly what you paid?! Your trunk cost $8; I have a trunk that I use for a coffee table that cost me $5. I have definitely gotten five dollars worth of use from it!
I love so many different things and the only way to acquire items without going into debt is to thrift them. I’m now adding some of your items to my list when I go thrifting, I also love the way you create your grouping of items without making it look overdone. I would like a video on how you arrange your thrifted goodies.
What a fun video Sherry! I've gotten most of my home decor the last few years by thrifting. You can not only get fantastic bargains, but unusual things as well. And it so much fun! This was a great video.
May you and your family be blessed with countless blessings from the Lord. May your life be transformed magically into something beautiful.Have a blessed Easter Sherry
Loving an item and using it in your home, knowing it's unique is just priceless! I love thrifting. I also have found sweaters and clothing that I was determined to repurpose. Think pillow covers.
Sherry, you find the most beautiful treasures. I am also a retired teacher and have a soft spot for that cabinet and that wooden child’s school or Sunday School chair. Your home is lovely. I enjoy your videos so much. 💕❤️💕
Loved this video. I like unique items & 2nd hand treasures like you. New is too expensive & not near as fun & interesting & never brings back wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing your wonderful finds.
I grew up in a 'thrifting' sort of family and learned the skill of thrifting very young. Mom brought me along with her on her adventures starting when I was a tiny child, she was always on he hunt for thrifted treasures. My Dad also bought most things 2nd hand. Their home was full of very, very nice items. Just goes to show it doesn't matter where things come from, as long as they are appealing to oneself, and are of good quality.
*Good morning, Sherry❣️💕 All of the advice you shared in today's video is sound advice - and the SAME ADVICE my parents passed on to us, their children - so I know from personal experience that it works‼️💞😁 Very few things in my home are brand new - because I prefer antique and vintage items and the quality they bring to the table - as well as the TREMENDOUS SAVINGS. The truest statement you made is you'll be able to purchase furniture of far better quality than is being manufactured today for a FRACTION OF THE COST of BRAND NEW furniture. I also agree that you'll find unique things nobody else will have in their homes. 🏡 Very enjoyable video - thanks 😊 for validating what I have been taught for over 60 years❣️😉💜💕🍃*
Good morning, Leslie! We are both lucky to have had parents who valued old things. I have trouble understanding why young people often prefer cheaply made throw away furniture that costs more than solid wood pieces they could find at the thrift store.
@@CanterburyCottage *We are so fortunate, indeed, Sherry...I have trouble understanding the concept of throw away home goods myself - ESPECIALLY furniture!*
@@jaynebrown693 *Good morning, Jayne❣️ YES‼️ I would L💙VE to have the cobalt blue juicer❣️😁 How are you, Jayne? I was worried 😟 about you...haven't seen your comments on channels we both follow for awhile and I was scared 😱 something happened to you or that you were sick...didn't see you on Jami and Zeb's channel and that really scared me!*
I admire your curated look so much. I have a very matchy matchy habit and I'm trying so hard to get over it. I find pieces I love and am forever saying...oh it doesn't match. Your home is exactly what I want to strive for if I can only get out of my head and just get what I love.
What an amazing collection you have! I absolutely love that $50 cream colored cabinet with the glass doors! And I would love to find small vintage clocks but I never can seem to find any! I guess that’s part of the thrill of the hunt, I will keep looking. Great video Sherry :-)
Dear Sherry, Every Tuesday I can't get to work fast enough to see what is in store for me from you. I truly enjoyed this week's production and ideas. Oh, if only I were your neighbor. Best wishes and have a wonderful spring season. Liz
You have such a fantastic eye for using items others might find strange or undesirable and turning them into upscale design elements. I love your beautiful home and how you have it furnished and decorated. So inspirational!
I enjoyed your video Sherry! I loved to see the special finds you got and how you researched them. Thrifting is an ongoing labor of love and I loved seeing what your favorite things to find in a thrift store. I have enjoyed thrifting for years and agree with you, that if you tire of something your don't have much investment in it. The hard part for me was moving and having to downsize again. But when you donate things to charities these things become someone else's treasures.
I am an inveterate thrifter. Two of the best thrift stores I have EVER shopped are in Virginia. Blue Ridge Hospice Thrift Store has two locations: one in Winchester and one in Purcellville. Both have the best presentation I have ever seen, good prices and great selection. Proceeds go to a great cause, too! One of the nice things about thrifting is, when you tire of a piece you can just donate it back, and the item will serve the good cause again!
You have a good eye for thrifted items! My home is now all thrifted, antique or family pieces with just a few exceptions! Beautiful clock from the asylum!
My Dad got me into thrift store shopping. My best find to date has been a Ralph Lauren coffee table. It's worth $4,700 and I paid $200. I got 5 pieces of wood furniture at that consignment store for under $400. One coffee table I looked at new was $475. This purchase cured me from buying new accent tables. Dressers were always a thrift store choice for me. No sense in buying a matching set when I don't decorate that way. You gave me some ideas of other things to keep an eye out for. Never thought to look for pillows and covers! Enjoyable show as always!
What a fun video! I loved seeing your thrift store and seeing all the different prices and items. I liked the way you gave us prices thrifted and retail/worth. It’s amazing at the treasures you can find and you have found some good ones over the years. This was a fun video to watch and very informative with the values, history and styling options. Great job and can’t wait until next Tuesday😊 love you❤️ Teresa
Thank you so much, sweet friend! When I was making this video, I thought back to the days when I was embarrassed to be seen at thrift stores. Now, I tell everyone!😜
The cubby cabinet in the library is my absolute favorite, i refer to those as apothecary cabinets, i have my eyes on two at the local thrifts but they are way more then 40 dollars , one is from a old time hardware store that is circular and rotates but its price is 1800. It’s amazing , i droll over it every time i go in there. The drawers housed the nuts and bolts and are triangular. Ty for an awesome video
My cabinet once housed nuts and bolts. (Some of the labels still remain.) Each drawer originally had a knob pull. Many of them were broken, so I replaced them with the card catalogue pulls. I have never seen a circular one-I’m sure it is amazing!
The best thing about thrifting and vintage is that your home is unique to you, no one can copy it. Well...I'm not counting that we copy Sherry's ideas!! next weeks video sounds fun!
Hi Sherry, I always share your videos with my sister. I’ve been trying to convince her to shop thrift stores instead of those stores where everything looks the same and lacks interest, but to no avail. Maybe she’ll give it a try now. Thank you for sharing. Hugs, Julie 🥰
I am with you all the way Sherry. My little English country cottage is all thrifted items inside and out. I have lived here for almost 16 years and I love shabby chic so I look beyond the item and look at what it could become. I am looking around me now and I cannot see anything that I've bought new. I have built up my collection as I go and if I see a style I like then I find items I can use to recreate the look. Thanks for sharing what you have managed to thrif. I also shop my home as often we have items we forget that can be upcycled again. You have done very well with your finds. Xxxx
Wow! What an eclectic collection. I feel the same way about new retail items as you do. I really love your items that you shared with us and seem to have some similar items either from a thrift store or inherited from our families. I love using inherited things and there is always a story. Thinking about the clock from the asylum, aren’t you ever worried that you may pick up something with bad energy attached? Have you ever had anything blessed or saged for protection? Thank you
Good morning, Miss Sherry! Fun video! I enjoyed learning how you use thrift store treasures to enhance your home. Your needlepoint pillow collection is delicious - I've just begun collecting them! Like you, I find unique thrifted lamps are perfect for tucking into any corner & adding that personal touch. Thanks for sharing!
I love your decorating style so much. Since I live in a very rural area, I don't often have many opportunities to get to a bigger town to go to thrift stores. But our small little town has one which helps the senior citizen center and many times they have some good jewels. I've picked up many items for 25cents. They are cheaper than goodwill or other bigger thrift stores in the bigger towns. Thank you for sharing your personal finds.
Good morning Sherry! ☀️ I enjoyed seeing all your thrifted goodies. You’re a girl after my own heart as I have very few pieces in my home that weren’t thrifted, be it at goodwill, Salvation Army, or my all time favorite….yard sales! I think my best find was a full set of sterling silver silverware in the chest for $9.99!! It’s valued at over $2,000! You have found some amazing things over the years too, and those pictures from the 1600s, my goodness want a steal, but I think my favorite is your china….gorgeous! Have a blessed week my friend. ☺️
Melissa, I would love to find a set of sterling silverware! What a great find! I am definitely ready for the weather to warm up, so I can hit some garage sales!
@@CanterburyCottage I grabbed that silverware, checked out, and practically ran out of the store because I was afraid someone would realize it was a steal and stop me! 😂😂😂
I love thrift shopping, going to yard sales and flea markets...like you said keep looking ... I basically decorated a whole house that way. I have found amazing things. I do thrift flips and crafts also. Enjoyed the video very much Sherry as I do every Tuesday.
I love Thrift store shopping!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

I have a black multi colored one that is at least 80 years old. My Grandma made it for her first son. Must’ve been the style. Great finds.
There is nothing quite like the thrill of finding something wonderful at a thrift store. I'm glad you have so many wonderful finds. ❤️
Yes, so much more fun than finding things at retail stores! 🥰
Hi Colleen, how are you doing?
I love backyard sales, estate sales, thrift stores. Reuse, reinvent, recycle!

This attic was full of antiques so a lot of that I display always displayed antiques and even since my children were little always, it’s my favorite
And I like to put a second life to items as well
I really enjoyed seeing your clock collection.
The repurposed blue entertainment
center is lovely.
Thanks Sherry! Great video!
Oh my goodness that black afghan brought back memories-my granny had one she made and it's actually the only thing I remember from her apartment. I loved it! I loved your bird picture gallery-just wow!!
I fully agree, Sherry. Most of my favorite pieces come from thrifting. ❤️❤️❤️ your home is so beautiful snd cozy!
🐼 Big Bear Hugs from a 68 yr old grandma in Kirby, Texas, USA 🐼 ❤ 🎀 ❤ 🎀
I love second hand shopping! So many items that remind me of my childhood as my parent's generation passes, and their children, or grandchildren often donate much to the thrift stores. Nostalgia!
However, my house is smallish and there just isn't room for much more stuff.
Thanks for the great ideas!
I couldn't agree more! Your finds are amazing and your house is decorated beautifully!
Such a great video Sherry! Finding treasures we love is what makes our house a home. Your inspiration is always appreciated
My boys will occasionally go to thrift stores with me. They don’t care about home decor, but they do like to find unusual t-shirts!
You're my kind of woman. I don't pay full price for anything anymore--thrift shops here I come!
I love seeing all your treasures. You have an eye for trifling. I so enjoy your remakes. Thanks for sharing.
I Love baskets, Sherry. Your blue dishes are stunning against that basket.🤎💙😍
Oh, thank you, Sarah! I just watched your flea market shopping in S. Cal. I loved that shelving unit you brought home-gorgeous!!!
Loved this video. I like unique items & 2nd hand treasures like you. New is too expensive & not near as fun & interesting & never brings back wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing your wonderful finds.
Awesome video! I really liked how you showed the stuff at the store, and then how you style it (or something similar) at home ❤️
Beautiful fines you have an old soul I love old things Tyfs hugs and prayers and lots of love ❤️
Great show Sherry. I'm glad you mentioned throw pillows & fabric items.
🏡 Very enjoyable video - thanks 😊 for validating what I have been taught for over 60 years❣️😉💜💕🍃*
GOOD MORNING LESLIE !!! Are you still interested in the Cobalt Blue Juicer ? I would LOVE to send it your way 💙. Pray all is well with you 🙏🙏
Good morning, Leslie!
I’m so in love with your channel
I admire your curated look so much. I have a very matchy matchy habit and I'm trying so hard to get over it. I find pieces I love and am forever saying...oh it doesn't match. Your home is exactly what I want to strive for if I can only get out of my head and just get what I love.
Thank you dear Sherry, all that you show us are magnific!
What an amazing collection you have! I absolutely love that $50 cream colored cabinet with the glass doors! And I would love to find small vintage clocks but I never can seem to find any! I guess that’s part of the thrill of the hunt, I will keep looking. Great video Sherry :-)
What a great video. So many great ideas.
My heart breaks because of the things I donated but now it's the thrill of the hunt again. You are a wonderful inspiration. Thanks
Perhaps, you’ll find the same items that you donated one day!🥰
I enjoyed your video Sherry!
I appreciate that you gave us a look inside of your beautiful home..great job Sherry!!!
I love all of your thifted finds. I too love to go on hunt's at thift store. Thank you for sharing. Have a beautiful and blessed week.🌼🌸💖
Here's an 🍎 for the BEST teacher 😊💖 You are a fantastic speaker & teacher💖
I love your style❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦
Once she finds one thing that she loves that only costs a few dollars, she will be hooked! 🥰
I’m so glad Tuesday is my day off every week, I love starting my day with your videos!!!!
Thank you 💕
I am with you all the way Sherry.
Xxxx
What a great video! Love your style!
Hello again, Miss Sherry!
Quick note: I sent you an email! Have a lovely day!
Thank you, Sandra! We clearly love the same things! 🥰
You are really good at putting together vignettes. You have found some beautiful pieces.
Thanks for letting us know what to look for when shopping in a Thrift store.
