  • Ohio State Marching Band Script Ohio at Buckeye Invitational Great Sound 10 12 2013 from C Deck. The Buckeye Invitational is an annual Band fund raising event. High school marching bands compete throughout the day, with larger marching bands ending the high school program. The Buckeye Invitational ends with a performance by The Ohio State University Marching Band, TBDBITL. The Band makes their traditional Ramp entry and marches to the south end of the stadium. Next, the Band played O' Danny Boy as a warm-up. From there, the Band performed their entire Country AND Western halftime show, last performed at the OSU Wisconsin game. The music includes "Better Dig Two'" "Ghost Riders in the Sky'" "Ring of Fire'", "Wagon Wheel'" "Dueling Banjos'" "The Magnificent Seven'", and a sing-along, "Happy Trails." The field formations included a remarkable bucking bull and rider, a spinning wagon wheel, and a steam locomotive moving across the field complete with spinning wheels and moving side rods (the rods that connect the drive wheels.) Big hats, two tombstones with Michigan and Wisconsin for monikers, a Ring of Fire, a Cactus and moon, and a rather large steer head, and other neat stuff, too. In addition, Ross Runyon on trumpet is one "Banjo" dueling a Sousa player, the other "Banjo" in "Dueling Banjos." A classic show. Because of minimal ambient crowd noise, the sound quality is much better than the recording made during the game. The Band then performs Script Ohio. After Script, high school competition awards are made. The Band plays Hang on Sloopy (not recorded) and marches up the Ramp into the stadium, ending the Buckeye Invitational.

I'm not an Ohio State fan, but I could watch Script Ohio 1000 times and never get tired of it. One of the coolest traditions in college sports!

I was in marching band. Marching in a curve is very difficult. Ohio State has been doing it with great precision since the 1970s that I know of. To me, this is the most magnificent thing to ever happen on a football field.

Although I’m part of a military marching band, I gotta say...pretty impressive, even if you aren’t a corps band, it still looks amazing. Props to the band directors and drum majors, really puts a tear to my eye seeing hard work paying off. And by hard work, I mean hours of practice both in and off the field. Good job Ohio.

I marched for Purdue. When they did this against us I had to stand and applaud (I was supposed to be crouched down on the sideline. The drum major yelled at me and it was very visible during films in Monday's practice but I didn't care. I had to pay my respect where it had been earned. They were outstanding.

This is a true story. I had a gathering at my house one night and one of my guests mentioned he was in the University of Michigan Marching Band. I just couldn't resist. I asked him if he ever got to dot the "i". At first he didn't know what I was talking about, but after a few minutes he figured it out that I was trolling him. His first words were "Aw, Man". Then he added a "#### You". By the way, I am a MSU Spartan, so anytime I get a chance to mess with a Wolverine, I take full advantage.

the technique, at OSU has its roots in military style.
