- Hey everyone, in this video I show you how I make a thumb book page holder. This little piece helps keeping the book open using just one hand.
This reading aid book buddy is made from a thick piece of wood so it's confortable to use. The hole for the finger was made to a specific size.
This is a great gift for all your reading friends that need a little more convenience. it's a great bookmark for everyone.

Thank you very much for the support! I love your videos
Do you have a template available? I understand the finger holes will be custom, but what about the rest of the dimensions?
Thank you very much ! Loved it!
Thank you for your support!
What is the clear stuff you are painting at the end of the video?
Great video! Thanks for sharing you earned a new subscriber
Pro tip: also doubles as a cool ring
Pretty good tip, agree!
advice on cutting hardwood with a bandsaw? my blade keeps turning as i put the wood threw. and what kinda wood did you use?
Have a sharp blade, make sure it's well tensioned, go slow with the wood. If you're trying to cut thick material and your bandsaw starts to stuggle maybe it's a good a ideia to first rip it not all the way throught with a table saw
Was that a stain you applied, and then a varnish coat after putting the makers mark on it? Sorry, I'm a woodworking newb.
I didn't applied any stain, that is the natural color of the wood. After putting the makers mark I used a varnish to seal the wood
@@alfadraft Thanks for the reply! Sorry, I'm a newb, so my terminology is probably off. What is that dark liquid you're applying at 2:14? ua-cam.com/video/4SgzN3oeSKI/v-deo.html
@@LordKain187 the drak liquid is actually probably just an oil (tung, Danish, linseed or some other oil) it appears dark because it brings out the color of the wood.
@@SheWhoWoodworks yeah, I figured it was something, I've been watching a lot of vids but most don't tell you which oils or sealers they are using and each kind will give different results.
@@LordKain187 I just made one these real quick after watching this. I used cherry wood and a 1" forstner bit in the center for the thumb hole. 4 1/2" L x just under 1 1/2" W block. Found the center point for all sides and made a cross for the middle point too. Drew a long diamond to connect them and then sketch the curves you want along them. I used a Beeswax and citrus oil product. I would recommend any type of wax or maybe a boiled linseed oil for this. It will be touched often and you want it smelling pretty and feeling soft. That's my 2 cents lol. Hope it helped a little.
Make it wooden with the help of the woodglut instructions.
can you share dimensions?
yes please
"How to make", more like watch me make. No measurements given at all.
The measurements are to the taste of the builder, like the size of finger and such
like we have the tool😒
Do they make these for audio books?
