  • How to Make a Simple Book Page Holder

    In this video, I make a very simple and quick Book Page Holder and Bookmark.
    I used reclaimed Ash from some old Flooring for this project. I cut out and shaped the pieces using the Bandsaw and Belt Sander, but they could easily be done with a Coping or Fret Saw.
    This is an easy build for people beginning woodwork.
    Here is a download link for an outline drawing if you would like to use the design to create your own: drive.google.c...

    Elegant. I use a stapler to hold books while I eat, but I might make one of these.

    That's a neat little book marker /page holder Chris ! I have never seen one like that before now ,as both the wife and I read quite a bit, I will at some point make a couple of these.That looks to be an old book there mate for demonstration purposes :) I have an old "Barry Bucknell" d.i.y book (you are probably much too young to remember him on TV in the late 50's and early 60's) and it served me well when I was a young man, Great project mate and cheers, Bram

      Thank you Bram mate :) It will come in handy :) I vaguely remember Barry Bucknell, my dad used to watch him. I do remember Woodentops on Watch with Mother. It was my favourite and now my son loves to watch it on youtube :D That book is one by Charles H Hayward. I'm trying to collect some of his books :) ॐ

      Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to discover beginners woodworking plans try Jadonite Wood Blueprints Buddy (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my neighbor got amazing success with it.

    Nice one Yogi, I quite enjoy making bookmarks myself but not seen one like this before. I thought I'd go through the comments to see which book it was since it looks interesting, so I'm gonna look for some of his books I think!

    • @TheWoodYogi
      @TheWoodYogi  6 років тому +1

      Thank you Clint :) I only have two of his books and another on the way. I'm also a fan of Paul N Hasluck's books and waiting for a delivery of The Handyman's Book. They are mostly reprints especially P Hasluck's originals being about 80-100 years old. But the information is superb and they speak of how much of the art has been lost to modern methods :)

    • @TheWoodYogi
      @TheWoodYogi  6 років тому +1

      You can find and download all P Hasluck's books for free, but I'm not a big fan of reading of a computer screen and I can carry the books around and read them when I get chance :)

      Sounds exactly like my kind of guy! I'm with you there, I much prefer to read from a book and I'm guessing the copies online shouldn't be there!
      There's two books I can't recommend highly enough; 'Hand Tools, their ways and workings' by Aldren Watson and 'A Reverence for Wood' by Eric Sloane. Both contain amazing illustrations and a wealth of knowledge that you just can't find online.
