I want to say how genius the impact axes are in terms of game design because it’s not talked about enough. Grenades are often given to characters(like scout) that do single target damage in game so they can have a limited AOE option. So what do you give a character that already specializes in AOE crowd clear? A grenade that does alot of single target damage!
should've mentioned some gameplay mechanics as driller, like: - placing sticky flames (or icicles with cryo gun overclock) in a circle while in a horizontal or vertical tunnel; - drilling around the thingy u have to defend in a repair mules mission to gain benefit of the full circle, not just 1 half, because they tend to spawn near a wall; - freezing medium sized mobs with a cryo gun and then drilling them with power drills to save some gun ammo and regain health with vampire passive
I think a good compromise would be to make vampire proc only once per grenade. Because, I agree, it does need more of a niche, but making it op is not the answer.
I don't think it'd even be super op healing or anything. Its quite awkward to get a lot out of the rippers and drilller can already hold a tunnel better than most + they don't combo with anything
The thing about drills, they deal melee damage so especially with the barbed wire mod, they work crazy good with cryo canon. Turns swarms into red sugar. While personally i don't use them often for breaking armor, drills have a modifier of 1000% (i believe) on armor damage.
For a beginner guide, I'd mention somewhere that you're using UI mods. A beginning player might watch these and say, "Hey, why doesn't my screen look like that? Why don't I have that cool heat gauge in the middle of the screen?" You probably wouldn't go into details on modding (other sources on YT spell out the how-to-do) but just a quick mention that you're doing it might save a little confusion for some viewers.
I hope when GSG finally gets around to reworking the perk system, ALL melee perks will apply to drills not just vampire. Berserk/See you in hell drills would genuinely be a good bossing setup
something good to know might be that all of drillers primary weapons are basicly all counted as AoE damage and therefor ignore both armor AND weakpoints in their damage calculations.
Thank you for the awesome video, I have watched a whole lot of your videos but haven't really commented and only now realized I clicked on this video minutes after it came out, so uh comment time I suppose. I also want to say, your videos on the subata give me a lot of happiness. I've been playing the game since 2018 I wanna say and have been a driller main from the start (though, I do play the other dwarfs a lot as well) and have always adored the subata
3:24 so a common misinterpretation of Flame Throwers is that they just shoot flames, jut in actuality they spray Napalm at them so they continue to burn after you're done firing at them. Hence why it's called a Flame THROWER. That's also why Elon Musk's "Flamethrowers" are allowed, it's basically a giant hand held Bunson Burner that you use.

CRSPR has like 2-ish seconds of sticky flames at base and can get up to 8 seconds if you take the t2 and t4 sticky flame duration mods, no overclocks required.
I don't think you heard of the Caretaker C4 strategy either, basically drill or platform up to a path above the Caretaker and drop C4s on top of it during the vents phase, it makes the fight so much faster. Obviously he does struggle a bit with the eye phase but other than that he stomps Industrial Sabotage missions, well as long as he has the CRSPR.
@@mariobrojr Try using Triple-filtered Fuel to double the heat buildup on the CRSPR. And always remember that robots are weak to melee damage, so consider bringing Berserker and a power-attack damage upgrade to help with the floating balls (that I forgot the name of) and the Caretaker's tendrils. And needless to say, the Impact Axe is also extremely good against bots. Edit: lastly, try using the Drills to defend yourself against Shredders.

honestly rippers are kinda trash... they should either buff their stats or make them melee... it makes no sense to even GRAB these(unless youre a curious greenbeard) in the first place. also dreadnaughts have insane recovery when it comes to basic elemental damage temperature, so you want to pair up with a scout that has freezing on their weapons to hit it for a massive amount of damage with heat shock or have an explosion based build that utilizes the flammable part of the neurotoxin grenades when paired up with flamethrowers.
The only viable/fun playstyle I’ve made them work in is cryo cannon driller while sitting in tunnels. They absolutely destroy anything frozen to the point where it’s kinda overkill on anything that isn’t an oppressor or stronger.
@@crustybomb115 This is a decent take. Personally, I think the rippers do pretty good damage on just a single pass, and in a decently wide area as well. Even if you don't line it up to hit multiple times over, it's not bad for removing a pile of ground bugs. The carry limit, though: that can be a real problem.
I'd say your probably being a bit hard on the rippers. They're a solid enough grenade choice. Decent damage with a decent skill ceiling in regards to having the game knowledge to use them in niche situations to make them super effective.
I will always be a strong preacher of Corrosive Sludge Pump + Sludge Blast combined with Subata + Automatic Fire. Blasting an enemy with a charged shot from the CSP already chunks down a lot of their health, but shooting them with a stream of Neuro-Corrosive Toxic bullets afterwards has a similar effect to shooting an enemy in Fallout 4 with a legendary bleed weapon. It quite literally melts everything. Additionally, I'd like to share a specific "recipe" I use to make bunkers in a pinch. Step 1: Find a nice, solid wall with no openings behind it. Step 2, dig straight in until the drill breaks six patches of terrain. Step 3: plant and blow a Satchel Charge at the end of the hole. Step 4: dig a small ledge along the back of the hole you made. The bunker has a tiny funnel for bugs to crawl into, and plenty of space for teammates to move above, below, or beside each other to avoid friendly fire.
