That is one of the most fantastic drum sounds I've ever heard. Those toms have the perfect balance of punch and singing
I thought we were in for a metalcore jam with this intro fill 😁🔥 such a masterful touch on the instruments as always (wonderful sound from this kit too!)
Definitely has a 70s Gadd vibe. Love it!
Love those 30th hats. I've got the 16's and they are amazing - lots of sizzle.
You probably have the best sounding Ludwig on the planet let alone any other kit.
Fantastic tuning and playing as always, Carter. Ludwig drums definitely have a sound of their own. I was watching Zeppelin live at Royal Albert Hall when Bonham was using the natural maple kit. Unbelievable sound. My favorite sounding kit of his. I have a late 70s Ludwig kit and it has “that sound”.
Uh... What a thick sound... 👍👍👍
There are 50 ways ;) to analyze drums sounds I’m sure… or more…. But you just can’t go wrong with a set of Ludwig Maples.
❤
That hi hat clutch is really minimalistic and cool.
Those drums sound like they feel good to hit.
Damn! that's some thick sounding bizness!!...........It's so striking to hear you play on 2ply skins with a darker thonky tone.
One of the best drum sounds I've ever heard, awesome man!
Thanks Carter for listing out your gear, really helps ❤
that kit sounds FANTASTIC. Killer playing, as always.
Incredible sound, especially the rack toms sound awesome and unique! Don’t think I said that ever before, but here we are
this made feel really good in my ears and in between them
Unreal sounds Carter! The mix is INCREDIBLE
you've put together a really great rig, your sound is album ready for sure
Gotta love those Luddy’s
This was incredible Carter! Classic maples for the win! That HiHat is so underrated
i can imagine steve gadd jamming on a kit that sounds like this.. great sound & great playing!
Sounds fantastic mate
Great sound. Man those toms 🥁🔥
Finally a Ludwig kit that has that Gretsch sound 😎
Sounds very close to my regular Brooklyn set.
Yeah LUDWIG…… all day. Also they don’t miss with snares…. 🎯
Yeeesh, that's a fantastic kit, and the playing is impeccable.
That floor tom sounds awesome!
Awesome sounding kit indeed.
Wow! That sound is so clean!
BIG warm sounding kit...!!!
An everlasting inspiration.
Those sound really nice I’m a DW guy but those definitely got my vote
Absolutely love it!! What a warm snare sound! I must admit I like the yellow kit even better though. Thanks for the post!
Wow, absolutely amazing!
great sound! Especially that floor tom
Thank you Carter. Amazing.
💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥amazing sound,especially the snare💥
Oh my goodness. Beautiful sound.
sounds incredible tbh
Kits sounds excellent! Killer playing too! Great video
damn, gonna have to try out those heads
Fantastic sound
Sounds like butter dew drops
Gorgeous sound and looks! Man I need a Ludwig now!
I'm pretty sure Earthworks mics are just cheating at this point but man that kit sounds amazing. I would pay just to go to a drum tuning clinic from this gent.
I have an entire hour long course on tuning at cartermclean.com 👍🏻👍🏻
great sound!
That snare is on point. That whole kit sounds so nice. Nice tuning on the toms. And those 15" hats. I was wondering why they looked so freakin big.
Evans Ec2 frosted are great 2 ply tom heads that sound “between” coated and clear. I have a big bohnam-ish rock kit I use them on, most of the time. My only complaint is coating is “little” bit fragile like on G1/G2 coated heads. It seems to come off not due to playing, but rather when you stack the drums, or scuff them while handling the heads/drums. Now the UV1/2 heads coating is unreal. Use those heads mostly after I tested 1 out. They hold up like nothing I’ve seen before.
OH MY GOD WHAT A SOUND!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩
Yes Sir! Thanks for sharing!
Holy cow, dude!
PHAT!!!
That floor tom almost sounds like a bass drum(not that there's anything wrong with that)
wonderful
Nasty with it.
Damn, dude. Nice!
I have been somewhat standoff-ish when it comes to anything double-ply on my toms. But these frosted EC2s may be a game changer for me.
That snare is money!
Bello/Magnifico.💪✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️
Sounds a bit like my 1984 Sonor Phonic+ but I'm not even 1/100th the drummer Carters is. If I ever get to 10% of his level I'll buy the Ludwig :)
just... W O W ✨
They're beautiful and sound wonderful. How do the mini classic lugs affect the tone vs regular classic lugs?
Nice touch and creativity as usual and the drums sound great! I was wondering though, is there a reason why you don't use a suspension system with your toms?
The reason is that’s snake oil marketing and useless
Yes it is Massive
Those toms sound great,...as well as the whole kit. Beef af.
Amazing! I noticed, that your dm20 look different to mine, they seem to have a different capsule?!?
Is this a modification or a newer model?
If you know you know..... 👀
Whoa.....
Bring that kit to Slagverket xD
holy cow
🤘😎🥁🔥👍
Sounds good as it always does when Carter plays !
What size kick is this? 🥁😎
The kick is 22×14.... I rewatched the video when Carter got the set to make sure😁
Its a 22×14
Its a 22×14
Супер 😊
Über Bock 🎉
do you have the same mic thats on the toms on the snare?
Legacy or classic maple shells? To my ears I hear legacy’s but obviously I could be wrong.
Can you come and tune my kit? :) Sounds fantastic, love the toms.
What brand? Kind of clutch is that? Tubs sound great…..
Cherry Hill Drums makes it. Micro clutch
Absolutely amazing sounding drums...as always!!! What would be interesting...and educational for us listeners...would be to do a comparison recording with just a room mic. Also...(speaking of MASSIVE sounding drums)...I'd be sure be sure interested to get some opinions on the video below. It's Mario Duplantier. Drumming doesn't get more massive than Mario. But...I can't see any mics. Hidden room mics maybe...but wondering if anyone has any opinions about how they get that sound. ua-cam.com/video/UvvKXtJrNpE/v-deo.html
If you look at most of my other videos, it’s usually one or two microphones so that’ll give you an idea of that sound. Also, yes, Mario is an absolute beast on the drums and a good friend.
@@cartermclean Thanks for that. I guess I'm just wondering how much of the distinctive sound of these particular drums is a function of the mic, the mic placement, and the processing. You're obviously a master at tuning and head selection and you consistently have some of the best sounding drums on any channel I listen to. I mentioned Mario because he's also got some of the best sounding drums I've ever heard (and he's a staggeringly good player). Maybe some day you could do a Mario video where you try to duplicate the sound he has (don't bother trying to duplicate the playing...only Mario can do that). I'd be really interested to drill down into his sound. The kit he uses, the top and bottom heads, and the tuning that gives them such a big, booming, and distinctive sound.
Such a creative musician.
As Pro for the last 45 plus years … very impressive 👍
