    Semi Chrome and a Mothers polishing ball gets in the tight spots. Might be easier on the hands.

      They make different size polishing balls. Try some Blue Magic polish. Works well on non ferrous metals. Aluminum, brass, mirror finish stainless steel

    Semichrome works awesome on stainless exhaust (requires lots of elbow grease though ). Anthrax is one of the best thrash metal bands to come out of the 80's. LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES

      same! and for $2.98 a tube I really wanted all my Bahtenda's Friends to come ova for dinna and bask in the shine of these new-to-me headers, but man -- for $9.99 that Mothers really brought it to another level. If all you've got is Bahkeepah's on hand, then it will do the trick, but I suspect it will take a bit longer than the Mothers. One thing to note is that the Bahkeepas has a distinct methane stench to it, so using it outside would be best 🤣

    • @justinfrombugzy
      @justinfrombugzy Місяць тому +1

      the pipes were more of a mess than the video could capture, and I was pleasantly surprised by what we were able to accomplish with minimal time and $$ invested into the project -- can't stress enough how important it is to wear gloves, though, because any hand oils will burn in once you fire up the bike and you'll have to break out the Scotch-brite all over again

      @@DavidHansell-t4o yes, and that's all revealed in the part 2: install video hitting next week. Bikes are so damn expensive, everything you want to do costs $1K no matter what it is, I swear 😅

  • @thebloodyserb

    I got great results on my M900ie with just a red scotchbrite and WD-40. I even used a brass wire wheel on a bench grinder for the wide open areas and none of it left a mark on the factory grain. However, I tried the same thing on my F750GS and it immediately scratched the shit out of it. I guess the lesson here is to always test on a less visible area first because not all stainless is the same. Also the Woodcraft store on RTE 1, right up the street from Mom's has some great scotchbrite balls you can mount on a drill for tight areas.

    • @justinfrombugzy
      @justinfrombugzy Місяць тому

      @@thebloodyserb the drill mounted 3M balls would have helped immensenly down where the three pipes collect and also on the welds near the tops of the header where the mount meets the pipes, and would probably cut 15 minutes out of the job easily. I also didn't know stainless had different grades, so thanks for the heads up! could have been bad for me 😂

  • @kylmsn
    @kylmsn Місяць тому

    One trick I’ve heard is to use something like a hockey skate lace with the Barkeepers friend and wrap it 1.5x around the pipe and then you can pull back and forth with the two ends and it’s cleaning/polishing all the way around the pipe at once. Can help with in between areas where it’s tough to get by hand.
