    This is a very good video demonstrating the difference of hydrophobic and hydrophillic glasses. It helps me to understand what can I expect with my new

    Xero rinse bar is also really good for hydrophilic glass.

    @nailpolishdesire Thanks for the input. At the end of the video when Jeff says "I seriously recommend fan jets for the hydrophobic glass", he wasn't describing the current window, but only suggesting that you use fan jets if you do run into a hydrophobic window.
    I believe the overall message is that hydrophilic glass is easier to rinse off with pencil jets (the basic jet that comes with most water fed brushes), and fan jets work better for hydrophobic glass.

    Just put some fan jets in my brush at the side of the pencil jets, I use a digital flow controller for my water flow what number setting do you recommend I have my pencil set to 2,8 but i think I need my fan jets on a higher setting as the flow is no where near as strong as your video, never used fan jets before its my first time??

  • @Window-cleaning-supply
    @Window-cleaning-supply  12 років тому

    @tigertrev2 What units are you using to measure flow? (i.e. the "2.8" - is that gallons per minute, liters per minute, or what?) Also, what cart do you have, and does this cart have a pump? If you are having pressure problems, I would definitely recommend an electric pump.

    Nice explanations but you slipped up on last demonstration when describing the sheeting action as hydrophobic when you meant hydrophillic. by the way what is the overall message you are trying to convey? you mentioned how nice the sheeting hydrophillic glass was but my understanding is that this means that dirt, pollution and residue will also be prone to sticking and more difficult to remove from simple routine cleaning and hydrophobic treatment will make maintenance easier. I'm confused.

    @MrAvo76 The fan jets can be found on our website from searching "WF50999-FJ1"
    They come pre-installed on some of our brushes (find them in the WaterFed > Brushes category)

    Thanks for a brilliant explanation of both glass. Why do they have these two types of glass? Is there anything else we need to be aware of with the two types when cleaning? Thanks.

      Hydrophobic is known as a "self-cleaning" glass and that is why the water just rolls off of it. That's all the tips we've got for you!

    Thank you for sharing. Question, do you know of a product that will condition hydrophobic glass to make it hydrophyllic? Also, I can't seem to get my fan jets to "fan" properly. They come out more like the pencil jets. Is there a certain psi I need to be working with?

    • @Window-cleaning-supply
      @Window-cleaning-supply  6 років тому

      We don't have a product that makes glass hydrophyllic, but there may be one out there! If you find it, let us know.
      Sorry to hear about the trouble with your fan jets! Give us a call at 800-989-4003 and ask to speak to one of our WaterFed techs. They can help trouble shoot the issue.

    Which products to buy on your website so the glass become hydrophobic and hydrophilic?

      Thanks for the question. We sell Protect-On which will help glass become hydrophobic. Check it out here! www.window-cleaning-supply.com/abc-protect-on-glass-protectant-starting-at/

      Thanks for the comment! While we don't deal too much with solar panels, cleaning with WaterFed is ideal on Hydrophilic windows.

      There's a lot. If you are an engineering grad you would definitely like to wash the glass at minimum effort.

    On hydrophilic glass the WATER runs off like those glass fountains you see in hotels or other public places.

      We used quite a bit more than you normally would so that we could show the difference more clearly in the video. You wouldn't use that much during normal cleaning.

      What is the water consumption for a given surface?

    • @Window-cleaning-supply
      @Window-cleaning-supply  6 років тому

      There's obviously some variance, but assuming you are doing 1 gallon per minute and it takes around 20 seconds for an "average" sized window, that's 1/3 gallon per window.
