This car is amazing!!!! Please bring it to Canada. VW is only bringing the ID4 and is missing a huge market in Canada. We buy Golfs in Canada not like US who needs bigger SUVs.
A future mod ideas... fit a different motor(more efficient/power) borrow from the Porsche /Tesla range, different battery(solid state/bigger Kw/) eg, Blade battery from Toyota/BYD....
It`s all going to happen when parts become more accessible in salvage yards...
The Cupra Logo is tribal - like two crossed Boomerang
The Cupra logo looks like the sort of tattoo you’d ask for in the 90s
And since I've never head my tattoo in the 90s (as a 10 years old), I bought a Cupra now! :D

And the interior ! This « suede alcantara » reminds me of old cars from de the 90s and 80s 😁

I don't care if it's not a "race car" in the eye of all this wannabe amg owners, but cupra is at least confident enough to make a car look sporty and really appealing.
It can also be argued to be a lack of confidence that the rest of the car is any good apart from design.
Cars that only look like they can go "Brrrrr" are just lousy posers, nothing worse than that.

As for all the people whining about how 6.6 seconds is "too slow", I'd love to know what these people currently drive in real life. I'm guessing half of them drive video games and the other half never owned a car quicker than this one.
Hot hatches aren't dragsters, there are other more important factors and 6.6 seconds to 100 km/h is quick enough.
Yeah... less than 7 secs is quite noticeable and significant, (is almost 0.5g), you´ll clearly feel the push against your seat :D
We had cars faster than this for many years, and this is worse and more expensive.
@@madant7777 and this older cars had semi autonomous systems, actuators in the steering system, LIDAR sensors, auto brake, huge batteries, complex conformed body panels? You gotta take sensors and other things into to the price, not only engine performance.
@@0Freguenedy0 True, they are even worse because of these systems that "help", like autonomous (as if) systems, huge batteries (weight)...
@@madant7777 they might not be good for price and your and mine concept of car, which gives pleasure and connection and feels good to drive and doesn't have a high cost. But they reduce the number of accidents
I have some sympathy for ID3 owners, this is clearly a nicer version.
This will also be slightly cheaper. Here in Spain base battery and trim starts at 31,600€ tax inc. before gov. incentives.
Each to their own. As an ID3 owner, I prefer the simpler design. Although the Born is nice too

@@hi9580 It has everything the ID3 has and more stuff, plus it looks better. That's a better car in my book. The same way Enyaq is a better car than ID4.

Looks was better than the id3. This Interieur Looks way more cosy. The id3 really Looks like a construction vehicle inside the cabin. Great Job cupra
I'm going to be a bit sexist here and say I can imagine 20 year women buying the cute ID3 and 20 year old men buying the aggressive looking Cupra Born. If I was a20 again I'd be following my own stereotype....

@@hellmekun because it seems vw has a unsound love for skoda maybe because its from eastern europe and satisfies german domination of that ex german territory who knows, but seat always been better than skoda, yet skoda receives all sedans and more diversified models, eventho seat has better design, so vw should broaden the models of seat
@@jh5kl seat always been selling in southamerica but vw has plug off in countries to comeback, i dont know how can it be called a global brand since vw doesnt allow seat to sell in usa, canada and china or india

I’d get this in a heartbeat if available in the U.S! I don’t understand why compacts are not a thing in US and then you see lots of people getting model 3 or Bolt (before recall)

You'll have the Genesis GV60.
Does Seat sell cars in the US? If not VW could theoretically have brought it there under its own brand but since they already offer the worse ID.3 that doesn't leave much hope.
PLEASE. Would buy in a heart beat. Desperate to ditch gas but there aren't any great ev compact car options.

Seat is a very popular brand here in Mexico, so hopefully will see this car soon, but the el-Born is such a terrible name...

El-Born is a neighbourhood in Barcelona. Most Seat/Cupra models are named after places in Spain.

Makes the ID. 3 look like the deformed sister to this. Seat/Cupra are a hamstrung brand unfortunately as VW will never let it be as great as it would like too.
I do not agree, Seat/Cupra is already objectively as good or better than VW, I don't understand why, because there us no reason anymore for choosing a VW
I totally do not agree. You can actually see, that design wise, ID.3 was the base, and they tried to make it different from Volkswagen, but without actually changing the proportions of they car (to save money). They simply overstyled the details to be more agressive. For me it looks like a deformed ID.3 trying to be a spanish Alfa Romeo, but you can still see its overstyled VW. Cheap design move, and it feels fake, and I'm really surprised it works for you people. Agressive, twisty headlights are not everything, this car lacks good proportions and integrity... Maybe it looks at least a bit interesting compared to the most bland german cars, but compared to classy sporty design like in case of Alfa Romeo, this is just a overpimped VW.

The deisgn is far more appealing than the ID3, which is only an attempt to make VW turn into electric, i.e. implementing the new platform and technology. VW looks dull and cheap, this one, at least looks like someone older than 4 drew some lines, not being that the case for ID3. In general, I,'d say that the people in Barcelona did a great job designing this and other Cupra and Seat cars. The true pity of this car are the lack of knobs and buttoms and the screens are, simply put, outdated. In any case, as a whole, european brands are lagging behind korean or japanese peers (KIA's cars are way more advanced in terms of design and technology). We better improve our rate of innovation or we are doomed in the next 5-10 years.
I am a Danish immigrant here in US -I defiantly can see a marked for CUPRA BORN here, it's a the small car segment here -like the Toyota Prius, the VW ID3 is not to be imported/manuafacture to US marked yet, but the sporty lines -aggressive look? of Cupra Born would speak more to the US marked here than the ID3 design -it's more "cute and organic" and here everything have to be pumped up -masculine look , but right now the FORD F 150 lighting -an EV truck, is believed to the really game change for US car byers to jump to EV's -well, that also open gate to more EV in "Gulf size" on the roads like the ID3 platform here. We are right now watching the ad's for the ID4 campaign on the TV's over here so as sales pick's up the Cupra Born should be also be part of the VW inventory in the US -with the upcoming VW BUZZ -I know several over here who is wait on the BUZZ!. Lets get "born again"

This looks great, some really nice design touches from the new Leon too and definitely a far better looking car than the ID3. Glad they haven't gone for dynamic rear indicators, the whole point of LED lights is that they're bright and immediately noticeable, these ones are exactly that.
Great review Tomas, I love the way you matched your own style to the car. Does anyone know why car manufacturers don’t install dash cams? Lots of customers require this feature since so many add it in later.

Although ioniq 5 and ld3 & id 4 have batteries from SK ionvation, ioniq 5 has the silicon carbide inverter and are very efficient, on 800v. id is shit when charging in winter with small and medium battery.
VW is ripping people off as usual.

The front looks like a mix between previous gen Peugeot 208 and McLaren 720S. Very nice! The introduction of EVs by various manufacturers will bring more new customers, definitely. I've never considered buying a Seat, but Borne has put them on the map for me.
I think this design is very interesting Thomas , Such a beautiful one too . We could see the "Seat" Logo being faded out over the next few years and replaced with Cupra . It will be very interesting to see this new brand form develop
Its got a rear wiper I'm in love ,not too sure about rear wheel drive in winter , looking forward to the reviews on this car

I'm much prefer the styling of this to the ID3. Sadly we'd never see it in the US. We just don't buy small hatchbacks in larger enough numbers.

I guess getting people killed by making massively deceitful claims about the capabilities of your lane assist system isn't a good long-term business strategy after all, huh.

Ehhh...Technology wise Tesla is years in front of VAG. Lane assist is just that. Assist. Not fully autonomous vehicle but people are stupid. There are videos of people sleeping in the back while the car is driving...There will never be 100% safe autonomous vehicle. Imagine a road that end on a cliff and someone remove the stop and danger signs and obsticles to prevent cars to drive over the cliff...How many cars would brake before it was to late? Or a kid run in front of the vehicle and it automatically turn because there is no time to brake and instead hit another car...There will always be situations where even best AI and autonomous behavior will fail. Question is how close will manufacturers get to as few deaths as possible. Right now Teasla has a huge lead so saying that Tesla has fallen behind VW is pure bullshit.

WOW nice car....
there are rumours that VW will update the ID.3, because the interior was not that well received, i really hope they do. My main issue with the ID3 is piano black plastic on stupid places and this car seems to avoid it really well.
In general i really like the ID3 (or also this thing) it is a great car, but the interior of the id3.. I am fine with the fact that the id3 looks less exiting from the outside, VW is a volume brand not a sport brand, so it is normal that the sports brand, cupra looks more exiting. The only issue on the outside of the id3 for me is the weird black plastic thing under the front screen.
