The Klingons, Romulans, Khan, and the Gorn are all sitting around a table, playing poker, and talking about the time they almost got Kirk when the Gorn says "I throw a rock at him". Everybody else is like "So what?", and the Gorn says "It was a big rock".

I'm in awe Kirk's cat-like reflexes...his ability to dodge Gorn's lightning-fast haymakers just doesn't seem possible!
My 5 year old mind thought the Gorn commander in this episode was the coolest looking thing ever, and I always hoped to see this episode on Saturday nights whenever the Star Trek reruns aired on my local channels. By far my favorite episode back then as a kid.
The present-day commercial with Kirk and the Gorn at home is just as hilarious! Bravo, William Shatner, for giving us a fun blast from the past!
A comedic masterpiece.
Example of how something can be so bad that it becomes great
Nice Jojo pfp
The way lizard man picked up that rock, you would think it should have been over when he had the man in a bear hug.
Any ordinary man would have met his end. But Kirk is no ordinary man!
This was legitimately scary when I was a kid.
.......wow....just wow
Agree totally. I remember watching this episode for first time when I was about 6 or 7. The suit and especially the voice. Ted Cassidy did the best evil creature voice. Ever.
I wasn't scared of this scene as a kid but I always remembered it as a really badass, intense fight scene. Now I come here to watch it again fifteen years later and it's the funniest thing ever.
@@knightofcups4877 Yes, that was Ted Cassity's voice over for the growls, as he also did the same for the Increadable Hulk until he passed away.
Right?! It all seemed so horrible and scary on a blurry TV screen! I watch it now and I am weeping with laughter!
My favorite part is how he throws the rock forward yet it drops from the sky in the next shot.
Jesus, everyone is so cynical on this thread. Gravity man, gravity!
@@fritzlange7934 "Great Scott! Why is everything in the future so heavy? Is there a problem with the Earth's gravitational pull?"
01:39 "oh you wanna throw rocks bitch?"
Why can't the same creature that can throw a two ton boulder simply crush or throw a human when he's actually holding on to him?
The same reason Greedo shot first and missed Han.
Because that would kill the actor and they would have to terminate the series, it's it obvious?
Kill Kirk? I dont think he wants the federation to come and blast his planet.
TOP 10 MOST EPIC FIGHT SCENES OF ALL TIME!
Trolling here won't save the sadistic trash that is Discovery and ST: Picard. Discovery has failed nationwide on CBS and in Britain and Picard has failed in Canada.
When I watched this as a kid in the 70's this fight scene was awesome! Or as we said back then...it was far out man!
Better than Batman v Superman.
In every sense whatsoever.
But, that film better than your comment!
It's certainly more entertaining!
That's not particularly hard, though.
Crocubot I knew a kissup would come along.
The legend has it that the ear slap scene almost got this episode rated R for extreme violence.
And Kirk was charged with cruelty under the Intergalactic Animal Rights Act and forbidden ever to keep a pet gorn.
wow the speical effects on the gorn are amazing i am totally convinced i am watching captain kirk fight a guy in rubber lizzard suit.

@@kitcat7538 this comment was made before the Picard show even aired... or even Finshed filming lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Director to editor: don't forget to speed up this scene a few notch.
Editor: ok. (proceeds to completely forget about it)
There may very well be alot of truth to that!
i went here, tried to find the spot for an hour, then realized that they literally filmed this on the parking lot.
i love it
I remember watching this with my dad and brother and I was so scared. (I was very young)
I was a kid too when I watched this and I thought he looked adorable.
Well I mean, damn that ain't even realistic, I was just there not tryna laugh at how strange all of this looks like
That's so adorable
Yeah, I was a really little kid, 4 or 5 when I saw this. My parents would let me stay up and watch it with them. They also let me watch The Prisoner, which was scarier.
half of the movies looked that way when I was a kid
Kirks thinking if only i had a homemade cannon knocking about the place.
The sounds Gorn makes are why practical effects are hilarious and also great.
0:17 It'd take some crazy reflexes to dodge that shot!
The Greatest Fight Scene In History!!!!! Period!!!!!
The costume that would soon be the inspiration for the monsters on power rangers
Watching this gorn is silly and fun. The gorn in Strange New Worlds are genuinely terrifying. Both are great!
There is way more action in an episode of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood
I love how the Gorn sounds like me during a bad night on allergy season. I know the sound of congestion well.
Definitely an Oscar
Aaaaand it's a wrap. No need for a second take. It's perfect!
The Klingons, Romulans, Khan, and the Gorn are all sitting around a table, playing poker, and talking about the time they almost got Kirk when the Gorn says "I throw a rock at him". Everybody else is like "So what?", and the Gorn says "It was a big rock".
And I imagine Kirk behind with a big smile because we never caught him 🤣
Did you get that from batman, the animated series? That sounds like the episode, "almost got 'im"....
Yep, it is.
I just imagined the end of the episode with the Gorn taking off his head to reveal it was just a costume with Kirk inside it. God... I would never suspend my disbelief again if I see another Star Trek alien, it's hillarious.
omg i was the thinking the same thoughts (the gorn is still such a badass)😈😤🤣
Seriously, what is it with the sixties and neck chops? They seemed to love that move back then lol!
Don't forget Kirk's patented double finger locked axe to the back. He used that a lot too.
Eric Rhodes that's the only move you'll ever need most creatures with a head often have necks.... if done right... no can defend
It's just... so bad it's hilarious! XD
They must have had a professional fight choreographer. Because even after all these years, the fight really holds up well. The intensity of the moves and the rapid editing really make it exciting.
Troll
This 'monster' scared the life out of me when I was a kid.
I JUST watched this episode for the first time ever today. I actually grew up with TNG and watched the other series as they aired but never watched the original. We started watching them and am loving it. This fight is classic but this episode was VERY good especially the opening scene.
I felt like i was really apart of the action
@Weghweh Hwewehwhe Unlike the new CGI which pushes plot, characters, continuity, and storyline right off the screen.
@@kitcat7538 You know krafty367 was being sarcastic, right?
@@ronin3381 You know my reply was not addressed to krafty367, right?
If we actually do get to see the Gorn again in Strange New Worlds I hope we get a fight as hillariously brilliant as this
EDIT: the Zero Gravity fight in Hegemony certainly did that trick lol
I'm so glad SNW played them up by not letting us see them. I'm sure they could make them terrifying to look at, but it's even scarier to wonder.
We finally saw them, and they are a bit more nimble than this poor fellow. Perhaps he is an elderly Gorn.
@@GaneshGunaji a bit?
@@GaneshGunaji Gorn Elder with a thick hide from years of experience.
I don't like how SNW made them so dinosaur- like that I can't see how they get together and make decisions outside of instinct.
