Damn the alert slider was literally one of the biggest reasons for me to stick with OnePlus after my 7T Pro…it’s hands down one of the best features ever - really wish there were more Android Phones with it (was hoping the Nothing Phone would have it)
the alert slider was 50% of my reason for sticking with oneplus, seeing them ditch it is so out of touch with their user base... which follows a trend. Goodbye OP.
In nothing they managed to put all the irrelevant stuff but the man who introduced alert slider to Android forgot to put in his device what a stupid move
Exactly!!! Alert slider is so handy to have yet nobody else is doing it for android devices. And now oneplus is discarding it too? Well it's fun while it lasts I guess
I remember when I used to say that I'll always stick with OnePlus because of the software and the alert slider and the amazing price, now I have a pixel...
Watching on a OnePlus 6T.. probably my last OnePlus phone. I milk out the battery health as much as I can but the outdated camera is going to be my biggest push to change (GCam included)
Went from the OP original all the way to the 7 too. It was my last one :'(. Just decreasing joy everytime. And now I just can't justify it. For sure the first OP's were the phones I've enjoyed the most in my life
“Don’t be a fan of the company, be a fan of the individual product.” This line hits hard for me because I think I’ve always judged a product by its company (eg. apple, and even movies like Marvel), and this advice is really helpful for me to fix that bad habit.
Yeah I used to like Samsung but they're not worth the price (far better alternatives like Xiaomi and Oppo out there) and Samsung has also forced a lot of their own proprietary apps and if you root the phone, you lose access to nearly all of them. Exynos is also way worse than Snapdragon (always has been, but the divide is getting much larger). If you choose a Snapdragon version (usually a US version) your phone comes with a locked bootloader, which locks you out of so many things. There is a Chinese variant with Snapdragon and it has an unlocked bootloader, but good luck trying to get your hands on that.
They settled the minute the founder left and all they did was start selling cheap rebadged Oppo phones in the entry level line and completely lost whatever the brand stood for.
The alert slider and oxygen os were the only reasons I bought the 6T in May 2019. Still going strong with no trouble at all and don't intend to upgrade this year either. When buying it I didn't expect that the Alert Slider would be much of a use for me. But how wrong I am. I use it multiple times a day now. So useful that I don't even need to see the phone to just silent it or mute it.
I remember wanting the 7pro more than anything a few years ago. it was so revolutionary, better than any flagship at nearly half the price. oh how the mighty fall.
Same here, the 7 pro was so special that it was which made me finally switched from iOS to Android. The no-hole no-notch screen was just so good to look at Unfortunately that was probably my first and last OnePlus purchase. And even sadder it seems all phone companies have ditched the no-hold or no-notch designs.
6 Pro and 7 Pro were two of my favorites and I still use it at home just watching UA-cam and stuff. Shocking how quickly our once beloved OnePlus has fallen!
The two favourite things with my Oneplus 7pro which no other androids had was, the hidden front camera and the alert slider. Both of these favourites are now gone so no reason to get another Oneplus. Generic is a good word to describe it.
At this point I'm feeling like I'll just replace the battery in my 7Tpro and use it for another 3-4 years before "the next thing" comes along, like invisible under screen camera's, or practical/cheap foldable phones, etc... This phone is just... perfect...
@@mataskart9894 Same here! I sometimes experience software bugs that are kinda annoying, but overall it's still a really great phone. Definitely doesn't feel like it's almost 3 years old now.
I was one of the early invitees for the OnePlus One. That phone was amazing and held it’s own for years against newer competitors. I had not been that thoroughly impressed with a phone again until the Pixel 6
My only issue with the pixel 6 is how easily the screen scratches. I’ve never had a phone screen scratch so incredibly easily. Apparently they use some type of glass that’s much more shatter resistant but much more prone to scratches. Definitely get a screen protector if you want a Pixel 6. Otherwise the phone is incredible
@@s0531 pixel 6 camera is unbelievable and battery life excellent. Only thing spotty was the inscreen finger print scanner. And It recently dropped in price, or the new 6a and out now and slightly cheaper. I’ll always take a google phone if given the choice, unfortunately my employer just gave me an iPhone 13 and it is a huge let down vs the Pixel
It's has been 5+ years with my OnePlus 3T. Holding OnePlus is a Pride at that time. It's very Sad to see such enthusiastic company gone to extra normal'company. 😔
Should not sad about Chinese short history brand, play game/tricks company ( Opp/BBK ). You should consider every individual product, if it good and suit for you go for it
I agree, not having the "alert slider" is a deal breaker here. One of the top 5 reasons for choosing OnePlus phones over its competitors was the cool slider
I just can't wrap my head around it. Who the hell thought that would be a good choice? I mean they must have meetings where they discuss such changes. And there really weren't enough people on the team that have predicted the outrage?
Yeah when I first got my 8t I fell in love with the alert slider but now idk if it's worth it getting other t versions I mostly liked them because they were cheaper but had good specs but without idk if it's worth it I grown used to it and I like the feel to it
I love the alert slider. It's such a small thing but I've changed between audible and vibrate mode without looking countless times. It's going to take a while to get used to that being gone
The alert slider was one of the only reasons I was holding onto my 8t. Was hoping the 10t would have it so that I could upgrade but since it now has no defining features compared to other phones I'm probably going to go to some of the much better alternatives available in the market.
I got an 8T. It's my first OnePlus phone. I specifically got it because it has a meh camera but wanted the fast charging and that notifications switch. I didn't think I'd use it that often, but every time I go into or out of the office that switch gets hit. I wonder if this will be my last OnePlus phone, but it's still working great, so I'm in no rush to upgrade.
Same for me, except I'm gonna switch soon to the S21+ as my next phone, mainly because I'm not a fan of OnePlus' color science and video crop. The OS itself is terrific though
it will be hard to get used to something else. i routinely use it like when i go to some office, doctors, music lesson etc i really dont want to be disturbed, to switch from vibrate to silent or back. it beats having to unlock i and mess with software. can even do it while in my pocket.
For me too! I was actually thinking of switching from my iphone to that, until they said there’ll be no alert slider. That would have made switching easy.
don't get this at all. i never liked the slider and actually found a software way to toggle it instead. just don't trust it to not break with constant use. good riddance, i say.
@@vinny6_9 of course, it's up to a personal preference. My phone is 4 yo and the slider is in perfect condition though. One of the best use case scenario for it is when you mute your phone without looking at it when in a meeting or a public event, it's quite useful to me.
This dude just threw in the fact that as a professional athlete him and his team won a world championship and you crazies are talking about the alert slider. Mad respect Marques 🥳
Last OnePlus phone I´ve purchased was the OP 7Pro, I´m still using it as my daily, can´t imagine buying another phone atm. Had the 3T before, both amazing devices. OP really went downhill after the 7 series imo.
@@nellybolt53 Mine´s battery is actually not that bad yet, guess because I haven´t used warp charge that frequently. I recently replaced the back cover, thats the main step for battery replacement. It was not that hard to do so replacing the battery is quite simple :)

Not having the alert slider is actually a big thing. Had the 3, 6, 7, 7 pro and I love the slider. I'm looking go upgrade this year and I'm still not decided what to take
10pro has the alert slider and better camera but the processor has heating issues. If 10pro came with 8+Gen1 then that would have been a perfect pick for you. Also Oxygen OS is far from what you have been using in your 7 pro when it launched, so maybe I'm not sure buying an OnePlus is a good option if you prefer stock like experience.
nah they would never because that's 1 thing that separate their phones from thousands of android phone. same reason why their doing pill plus punch hole notch on the 14 series.
@@angeloangibeau5814 surely they will in next 2-3years. With them moving to portless and buttonless direction. Maybe make it like the sides are touch sensitive or something but physical button will surely go.
@@Jestemkioskiem yes but you know how apple is, personally I feel like their willing to make the iphone ugly asf with that new notch just to stand out.
When I got the OnePlus 7 Pro I was so stunned by the fullscreen display and was sure that every phone I get from now on will be like this. One year later, that hope was already gone when they released the 8 Pro with a generic punchhole.
Flipping and pop up camera phones were so unique, but alas, outside the OnePlus 7 and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom (phones that I still consider peak smartphone design), not enough of them sold well enough for it to become mainstays outside the Asus ZenPhone Flip series, but even then it’s Asus, they’re known to go against the grain (mini phones, gaming phones, flip camera phones, dual screen laptops)
It's literally a great deal given the pricetag. The alert slider missing is really a non-issue and not something that defines OnePlus for me personally. So I really don't get all the hate. It's a beast of a phone. The bias shown here and in the comments is really just nitpicking at this point. This phone goes back to oneplus's roots, meaning: powerful, nice phone that can compete with other flagships, but for a significantly lower price. Just my two cents.
Still rocking my prehistoric OnePlus 3T, but will likely finally upgrade to the Zenfone 9. It's sad to see the removal of the alert slider. It's such a simple feature, but I use it everyday.
my favorite oneplus phone rocking the wood backpanel, my 3T lcd was broken 2 years ago because it falls from my table i was mad as hell because it's still run smoothly. But i don't bother replacing it just collecting dust in my drawers now😂
I have been with OnePlus since the OnePlusOne and honestly it was great up until the 7T Pro McLaren edition and that's when it all ended in my eyes. Every phone after that just doesn't feel as good or should I say as unique to what made OnePlus what they were. I never expected them to last forever as nothing lasts forever and am happy with the set of phones they made up until that point and I will keep my 7T Pro McLaren edition until it breaks. I hope for a comeback story from them I don't think it will happen but if a "the reports of my death were greatly exaggerated" happen to OnePlus I will definitely come back as a customer.
My first OnePlus phone was the 9 which is what I am writing this on currently. I switched from a Samsung s20+, and I definitely noticed a performance improvement and the operating system on the 9 works well for me. I have all the features I need in a phone and it was free with my phone carrier. I'm finding it hard to dislike this phone, and I think upgrading to a 10T would just disappoint me since I'll actually be losing wireless charging AND the awesome little alert slider! The 10 pro may be a good phone, but I think if I get that phone then I'll never get another OnePlus phone again, since the rest after that will just gradually get even more generic. I'll probably just stick to the 9 for now since it just seems to work absolutely fine.
I do really miss the slider switch from my 1+6. The confidence of checking / switching your phone alert status from your pocket or out of sight or just quickly was great.
Totally agree. It's not just switching to silent, it's being able to check it in your pocket without getting it out or unlocking. Less distraction for the room, which is the point of going silent.
The OnePlus 10T is probably great, but it’s moved so far into the generic space away from what made them what they are that there’s now very few features left that makes them more worthwhile than the Pixels/Galaxy/iPhone of the world.
OnePlus 10T is the perfection of 10. It destroys Samsung completely. MKB's quality has gone downhill worse than OnePlus. This is a fucking gaming phone and it doesn't look like one. Genshin Impact on this is ridiculous. There are no throttle over here, unlike every single Android Phone. Nobody gives a damn about a fucking slider that's irrelevant nowadays. This Phone goes back to what made OnePlus OnePlus, make the best phone with a competent camera.
10T is the best Android prone out there. Hyperfast charging with great performance. The camera is a masterclass and there is so little difference between the current flagship phones. Marcus has lost his way, he is now generic. The old Marcus would be complaining why phone makers are purposely bottlenecking their own products. The Hasselblad software has been hacked to a 10T and proven to work. It destroys 10 Pro in the main camera, in fact aside from niche shots, 10Ts main camera is far superior than the entire camera system of 10 Pro. It just shows how companies are bottlenecking their own products so they can sell a shittier quality "premium" product.
They're losing most of the signature components at this point. Starting with the headphone jack few years back, then the Oxygen OS, now even the alert slider...from never settling to settling a lot sadly.
They've been settling literally since their first phone. It was never more than a marketing term. But yeah, OnePlus have lost their identity as a brand for sure.
I moved to the S22 this year from a OP5 and slider was the first thing I missed. Also, I will never care about wireless charging, but I'd really like to have the super fast wired charging speed. (I almost kept the OP9 Pro I tired out, just because of the charging speed.)
And yet, the S22 is infinitely better than any other flagship this year. Samsung arguably has the most complete experience out of any brand out there. Oneplus wad supposed to be a rising cheaper competitor to Samsung, but instead, it fell off rock bottom.
The best phone I've ever used was the OnePlus 6T. I had it for 2 years and there were no slow downs, no battery degradation, and the experience just kept getting better. But then OnePlus changed. They got rid of Oxygen OS, and started to betray their original values. I ended up switching to Apple. No other Android phone did it for me. And I knew that everything else was going to be an inferior experience. I keep hoping the Nothing Phone will be a revival of those core values, but OnePlus is dead. RIP OnePlus.
New OnePlus turned into OPPO. Old OnePlus turned into NOTHING. I used OnePlus 3T and I'm currently using OnePlus 7 Pro but my next phone will be Nothing or Google Pixel. OnePlus is a good choice at the moment but it no longer has a soul.
@@bilalk85 is that really a nice phone over the long term? I'm thinking of switching to either Samsung or Pixel, but Sony seems tempting too. Going 100% refurbished, as new ones are unaffordable
I think the reason of removing alert slider is to cut the price off by making similar phones in all three companies (Realme, Oppo and OP) so they could use some of it's or most it's parts to make another phone in future from another company with similar design and similar specifications but cheaper price and that bumps up their margins and market share for quite a bit.
Im still using 8T amazing phone, and even more amazing with recently pushed android 12 update..feels like brand new phone, totally not worth upgrading for nothing else. Super fast & responsive....this is the first phone which doesnt need yearly replacement for me.
I think what a lot of folks have appreciated about OnePlus is they know who they are and you can see it in their designs. When they step away from that, it sort of breaks trust in the brand. With things like kicking the alert slider, somebody made a bad decision...
Yes the alert slider was major. I own the op7 pro and that the last great OnePlus phone. The brand as a whole has lost its way. The few that know of the brand now are left with a bad taste in their mouth. Sad to see.
My last phone was a One Plus 7T. Despite still ticking a lot of boxes, they have just fallen off for me recently. I miss the old One Plus before being bought out by Oppo.
@@haidersiddiqui4973 I meant before the merger. BKK has owned them and also owns Oppo. One Plus was better before they started trading everything with Oppo. At least, in my opinion.
I switched from my OnePlus 6 to a S22+. Everything's been great, however, definitely would say the feature I miss the most is the alert slider. Made me realize how useful it was to me in my day to day and it just doesn't feel the same through the software.

I've had an OnePlus 7T and I'm currently with a 9 Pro, I've always heard people talk so much about the alert slider, but I honestly never use it and don't care about it, my phones are always on silent mode... But I do have to agree that the path OnePlus is taking is, at least, disappointing and generic. I miss the experience I had when I had the 7T.
I've always been a hardcore OnePlus fan. And I finally got the 7T as soon as it got released, and this phone still stands with its head up against 2022 flagships. The performance is so good. And the camera is still so amazing. 7T was the last T phone that had a proper camera setup (wide, ultrawide and telephoto lenses). I've decided to go for the Pixel 8/8 Pro or Galaxy S23 next year. But I highly doubt my phone will give up so soon. Hoping to take it to 2024.

The super fast charging is the only reason why i would pick this phone. Full charge in 20 minutes is amazing. And they include the charger in the box!!!
There does not seems to be anything really wrong with the OnePlus 10T. It just not a very exiting phone. To me, thanks to its lower price, it seems more attractive then the 10 Pro, especially if the higher spec model sell for the price of the base model (like their promo at launch).
This phone is absolutely the fastest and smoothest phone I ever used. And only cost 650.00. This is the future. Takes good photos and made wireless charging and overnite charging obsolete.
I had the 3 for 6 years, recently changing to the Nord when the battery on the 3 died. I love the alert slider, can't believe they're getting rid of it
I was always hoping the alert slider would make it to more phones. It's the one thing I miss from the iPhone after switching to Android, and the one thing tempting me towards OnePlus (right before they went downhill, hence why I never made the switch). Removing it seems like the final nail in the coffin for OnePlus.
I hoped that too, because was I so used to the alert slider on my HP Pre 3 back in the day. Sadly, it never made its way to other non-iPhones (except OnePlus).
I loved my OnePlus 5T. At the time, it was pretty good. It survived my trip to Thailand and got some great photos. It survived quite a few falls, too. That was the only OnePlus phone I've ever owned. So, yeah.

Still got my 7T, he's doing alright! I've noticed issues with the phone since I bought it in 2020, but no phone is perfect. But yeah, I've had a great time with it. Love the design and the colour, and it does nearly everything I need. It's a shame, I've heard that every phone after is kind of a disappointment. Then again, I think we should all make up our own minds on how we feel about things instead of jumping on the bandwagon. Those subsequent phones may be pretty awesome!
I wish the OnePlus 7 Pro pop-up camera caught on and made it to more phones. While I'm not too bothered by hole-punch displays, I personally never use the front-facing camera because I don't take selfies of myself or use my phone to facetime or video-call anyone so having more phones on the market with pop-up cameras and full body displays would be great for people like me.

To be noted that the 4 years of Software Updates are actually 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of Security Updates. A stepdown from Samsung for example, which is offering 4 years of Android updates to their S22 line. I don't know why the reviewers are not mentioning that. It's pretty relevant in my opinion.
it's relevant but because they're switching phones every new release they don't care too much. They just throw in whatever the truth was the last time they looked it up for the people that want to know, but since their audience is so big, most of them don't care

They led the industry in killing the aux port, and as much as I think killing the mute button would be a mistake, I'm pretty sure they could do it without it really affecting them.
What it looks like to me is that them removing the alert slider is the confirmation that the OnePlus we once knew is officially dead, and the corporate generic trash era is officially ushered in. Like we've obviously known for a while now that OnePlus has fallen off, but this is the nail in the coffin. That alert slider is more important, at least to me, than most realize. That was the symbol of the company and it represented something that we used to love about OnePlus....it's uniqueness. It being gone makes it indistinguishable from any other mobile device on the market now. Its sad, but it's time to move on from OnePlus. It was fun while it lasted... On a side note, i still sometimes wonder were it went wrong. I personally think it started pretty much when Carl pei left the company. I'm assuming he was the brains and creativity of the company, so it makes sense why all the phones went generic after he left (he left a few months after the OnePlus 8 lineup released, for reference). It also makes sense when you look at his new nothing brand and see how unique and interesting that is too.
Kind of have a feeling you're gonna lose that Apple bet. Could've said the same about touch ID before the iPhone X. Headphone jack and charger are not part of the "iPhone identity", still.. Not entirely sure they won't remove the mute button in the next 5 years.
Not gonna lie never expected you to be an athlete, I’ve watched you for about 5-8 years since I was a kid and didn’t know you had the hands like that! Love to see it!
I'll hold you to your bet: ( 4:28 ). I bet that within the next 5 yrs, Apple will get rid of that mute button. I once had the same thought about the Home Touch ID button. It was symbolic of Apple but they got rid of it. I don't see why Apple wouldn't get rid of the mute button as well.
I'm still using my OP 7 Pro. My favorite phone of all time. I had the 3T before that (another excellent phone). Looking at the way OP has gone over the years, this will be my final OP phone. I'll be checking out the new iPhone 14 at launch and also keeping the new Asus Zenfone 9 in mind.
I got the 5T back in 2017 and it still works like it has since I bought it! The only thing that is starting to be an issue is the audio jack input. It's a bit worn down so the earphone jack pops out very easily. Other than that, no performance issues no cracks in the screen (after multiple hard falls even!)
Hey, I had the same headphone jack issue with my 4 year old Oneplus 6. Turns out the jack got filled with pocket fluff over the years. If you get a small needle, you can carefully pull the fluff out and it'll work like brand new again :)
3:35 some of the older budget OnePlus phones also ditched the iconic alert slider if I remember correctly ( although those were probably just rebranded oppo devices )
I'm doing the same. Still looking at this and the 9 with decent discounts right now, but had the 6 for so long now I think I'll use it until it's 100% dead

So what's your phone for 2022?
Oó
Well said.
Agree they should change the motto to "Sad settling is now our business".

I was always hoping the alert slider would make it to more phones. It's the one thing I miss from the iPhone after switching to Android, and the one thing tempting me towards OnePlus (right before they went downhill, hence why I never made the switch).
Removing it seems like the final nail in the coffin for OnePlus.
agree
I hoped that too, because was I so used to the alert slider on my HP Pre 3 back in the day. Sadly, it never made its way to other non-iPhones (except OnePlus).

I loved my OnePlus 5T. At the time, it was pretty good. It survived my trip to Thailand and got some great photos. It survived quite a few falls, too. That was the only OnePlus phone I've ever owned. So, yeah.
OnePlus was once the go-to company in giving you the best value smartphone at an affordable price.
Now? They just give me question marks. 🤦🏻♂️
ok Dont Read my name..😑!!..
Honestly though, what is the purpose of oneplus even? If they are just an OPPO rebrand
now they fall in the bracket of just avoid this company

@@ThreeTwentyTech exactly I don’t get the appeal for Chinese brands when a lot of them are under BBK rebranded. You want a real differentiator? Get a pixel, Samsung or iPhone
While I'm not too bothered by hole-punch displays, I personally never use the front-facing camera because I don't take selfies of myself or use my phone to facetime or video-call anyone so having more phones on the market with pop-up cameras and full body displays would be great for people like me.

well, watched this on a 7T.
top reasons I got it
- didn't overheat when charging like my Samsung Note4
- no bloatware
- amazing price point
now that I've had it for couple years, I really like the slider. sucks they are ditching it.
What do you think you'll get next? I'm also using the 7T but want to upgrade.
@@juanvillasenor9906 I recently upgraded from OP7T to Galaxy S22 ultra. I had pixel 6, apple 13 pro and xperia 1lll as my other options but considering everything including cost I found S22 ultra to be the best option. You could go for other S22 options or s20 fe as well depending on your budget.
Sad to see a company become something like this, thankfully other companies like Poco are here.
Poco is basically xiaomi tho, so worthless. At least with their stock software
@@electricant55 they are all based off some large Chinese company. Different names, but almost all the same… somehow

@Mohamed Lenieb I have used pe 12/12.1 for 4 months and it's been great , but it had very less customisations just like any pixel phone. So , it depends on your device model and it's maintainer.
Merely 15 months after the video and iphone switched from the mute switch to the action button, tough luck 😂
I'm happy that I bought the last great phone from OnePlus. The OnePlus 7 Pro. I'll have to look for another brand for my next purchase.
I didn't buy it because of curve screen. But I had a OnePlus 6 before the motherboard fried. It was the best phone I've used. Only problem was trash memory Management but other then that it was great.
As an old HTC fan who was there to witness OnePlus surpassing HTC during its final years, seeing this deja vu play out is chilling
What if Tim says challenge accepted and removes the iPhone slider 😬
The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max switched from the mute switch to the action button…do I win the 100 million dollars?
I've had the 7Pro for almost 3 years now and minus the battery being HORIBLE (which I could change, Ik) it's a great phone! It's a shame to see that essentially they just gave up on everything that they had before to make mediocer products...
I got my first flagship ever, OnePlus 6, and it's been great experience. I'm using it since April 2019 (I bought it after one year because I wanted it cheaper), and just the only 2 major thing bug me - the battery obviously, and the cameras. The screen is also kinda dim, but whatever, and the latest Oxygen OS 11 update was a tragic crash. Other than that, it's great. Now I only kidna regret I didn't get something cheaper earlier and went for the release of 7 pro, which my friend got on release, and that phone was the pinnacle of OnePlus. Minus the jack of the jack.
I changed my 7T Pro battery when I replaced my screen and the difference is night and day, my lord! Really recommend, as long as you have the proper tools for opening the phone, replacing the battery is cheap and easy. I got the battery and tools from iFixit and the 7 series are getting Android 12 later this year. I'd already be using Lineage if not for the massive downsides of using it on this specific device.
@@nogrammer hello :) Was your data wiped out when you changed the battery? I know it's safer, but if one could avoid all the work and trouble to save everything and back it up again... Especially when you have a 256GB phone. And when you are lazy ;)
Yeah bro after 3 years I'm still waiting for another phone to have a full display and a alert slider
This right after the Zenfone 9 video puts into perspective how far OnePlus have strayed from their user-focused roots. The 7T was the last OnePlus phone I considered buying, and now it seems like the Zenfone 9 would be a great upgrade from my old OnePlus 5T- at least better than any current OnePlus phone.
I'm still rocking a 6T and it's showing its age. Zenphone 9 is the first compelling phone I've seen to replace it. Even the 1+ 10 Pro feels like it falls flat, especially this 10T.
@@loganpbarney It's great you still have a 6T. We all ought to keep our phones for longer. My 5T has served me really well for almost five years now, which is about as long as I want to keep a phone. Even the battery's held up surprisingly well. This is the kind of performance that creates brand loyalty- unfortunately the OnePlus brand of the 5T era doesn't exist any more.
"Can you actually imagine the iPhone dropping the mute switch"
Hey you're not gonna believe this...
I've never realized how much people seem to care about the alert slider until OnePlus removed it. I've been using my OP 6 for four years and have never once used the slider.
Once you do start to use it, you'll never go back. So freaking convenient
It’s really convenient. If I’m somewhere where I need to have it off, I switch it off. I turn it back on otherwise
I used it so much that now I switched from a 6T to an iPhone 13 pro just for their mute switch
@@dislikebutton4239What's the difference to just, you know, turning it off on any other phone? It doesn't offer any real functionality. It's not like you need to get notifications on other phones, you just don't waste a dedicated non mappable button for it.
@@tinminator8905 it’s just super convenient compared to tapping the software button. For androids I’ve used, tapping the software button isn’t as pleasing or convenient as switching the slider with the phone as ur putting it away. It also takes a second longer than expected to actually work like there’s a slight delay
I should add my phone is always set to vibrate. Never had a desire or reason to use the ringer or the silence mode. Don't even know what my ringer tone is.
Went from the one plus 6 to the pixel 6. Besides all the obvious issues with the pixel, the biggest thing I miss is the alert slider. Sucks that it's gone forever. I want one plus to go back to what they were so I can go back. Come back Carl!
The alert slider is probably the most underrated feature on a smartphone. Next to a notification LED, it is one of the most useful tiny features on a phone. I want to upgrade from my 6t, but keep realizing I'll have to ditch the alert slider eventually.
Waited and managed to get mine at 530, my overall experience is good, transition from 7T to 10T, fast charging is the feature I like the most
Nice! I'm thinking of doing the 7T to 10T transition too. Anything you miss? Any dislikes about the 10T?
@@quintincoetzeeI only missed the alert slider, I am enjoying better performance, charging speed and photos. I am just a OnePlus Fan since the OnePlus 5t
@@acfresh4life Awesome, thanks so much! That charging speed looks amazing. What do you think of the latest OxygenOS? Seems a lot like ColorOS these days, which I know some people don't like. You're happy with it?
@@quintincoetzee To be honest, I couldn't feel any difference until you mentioned it. I am certainly happy to use OnePlus and grateful to them for keeping their brand purpose. Solely focusing on producing performance devices at its best price
Having switched from OnePlus to Samsung, I miss the alert slider, but I don't think apple would hesitate to kill the mute button. They led the industry in killing the aux port, and as much as I think killing the mute button would be a mistake, I'm pretty sure they could do it without it really affecting them.
Apple killed their home button which was a huge part of their identity too so the mute button could be next
They would probably convince people the removal is a new feature on top of getting rid of it.
the iphone will always have it aged well
Oneplus 7 Pro, what I'm still using, was their last good phone without a doubt

@@ananixon actually really good, I've been keeping the charge between 20-80% as many recommend and it's still holding up great
@Mohamed Lenieb why tf do you think I have to explain myself to you
Watching this on my Moto Edge Plus 2023. A UA-camr said it looked a lot like this phone so I had to look it up. It sure does 😂.
Congratulations with the win! Great and deep impressions. Thanks for for your work. Keep going!
Not gonna lie never expected you to be an athlete, I’ve watched you for about 5-8 years since I was a kid and didn’t know you had the hands like that! Love to see it!
4:28 Wheres my Million dollars?
I'll hold you to your bet: ( 4:28 ). I bet that within the next 5 yrs, Apple will get rid of that mute button. I once had the same thought about the Home Touch ID button. It was symbolic of Apple but they got rid of it. I don't see why Apple wouldn't get rid of the mute button as well.
True. They can remove that

Yep, got the OP7 Pro, one of the last good oneplus phones... As soon as iphone switches too USB-C, I'm goin to them (Which they will 2024 in EU)
