OnePlus is killing themselves slowly. If you live short you die a hero but if you live long enough one day you will see yourself become a villian. Edit: OnePlus phones are still good, however for value, there not very good like they used to be.
Personally, I think OnePlus peaked with the 7 pro, had a slight decline with the 8 Pro. Then plummeted with the 9 pro and this is a new low. OnePlus has definitely settled.
I just replaced my OnePlus 9 Pro, and got the Pixel 6 Pro. Gotta say it's much more comfortable in terms of software. Shame the brand has fallen so much but it's time to move on.
I hope the Pixel is nice! I've been wanting to get it for a while, just worried about potential bugs since some people have complained about it. Have Google dropped a patch for it yet?
@@techpassion4126 well from my first few days, it hasn't been buggy at all, from what I've heard the January patch has helped a lot and I've seen that the February patch is gonna drop on time so here's hoping it helps even more.
I have a 7T, same display proportion 1080p. What I love about the 7T's camera is that it leaves room for editing. Additionally, in Pro mode, you get some amazing 48 mp results even in low light. This 10 Pro processes well. It sharpens and is slightly less red so it doesn't really leave room for editing beyond colour...
I'm still rocking my OnePlus 6. Dash charge and oxygenOS were the best features, plus it had great specs for the price when 128GB storage and 8GB RAM were rare, and the headphone jack was nice even though I went to bluetooth headphones early. None of the reasons I chose that phone apply to their newer models, and with the Samsung OneUI looking nicer than ever and honestly even iOS making some steps in the right direction, there's more and more reason to go for one of the major players next time round
Have fun with your OP6 while it lasts! It was the peak of OnePlus for me. My OP6's battery life started to decline since 2020 and I moved on to a Samsung S21 Ultra. I loved my OP6 to hell and back.
Yep. Still rocking my oneplus 6. Everything is great except the camera and speakers. Will upgrade to s21 ultra as Samsung's one UI looks much cleaner than shitty new color Os
I'm in the exact same boat. I started with the OnePlus One, loved that phone for 4 years and then picked up a OP6 256GB right as the last few units were being sold here before they moved on to the 6T lineup. And I've loved the OP6 these last 3 years as well. The battery, the RAM, the massive storage, the headphone jack, oxygen OS. Even after 3 years this thing is still going strong. I'm so thankful I got it when i did as I think it's the last good OnePlus device. Unfortunately, the OnePlus brand has gone very downhill since then and I don't see myself ever getting another one of their phones. They had something special going and they ruined it. They Settled.
I've had a OnePlus phone since the OP1, and currently have a OnePlus 9 Pro. So far it's been riddled with bugs and problems, and now that I've updated to OOS 12, the software experience (previously one of the big draws of OP phones) is a big reason why I'll be getting a different brand phone next time. It's been 8 years of OnePlus for me, I just don't understand why they're throwing everything away like this..
I received OOS 12 update and now I just decided to rollback update on my OnePlus 9 so atleast I can use the phone I used to like... The new os full of bugs and laggy
I was all for the Oxygen OS, but personally I'm quite liking the OOS12, specifically for the battery optimisation. I just hope the stock android feel comes back :(
I'm with you I've been down since OP2 I have the 8 now and with my issues I've refused to upgrade past that I'll be switching to the forbidden fruit at the end of the year
I feel that OnePlus peaked with the 7/7T pro and when carl Pei left the company and when Oppo and OnePlus started sharing flagships, things went downhill from there. I’m much more interested in more budget-friendly flagships like from xiaomi or google or Samsung, big companies starting to make value-for-money flagships
I just bought a Xiaomi 11 Lite and it is outstanding. For €299 it has an amazing thin and light (but solid!) build quality, great screen, good battery life and reasonable cameras. I'm shocked how good phones are at this price class these days... OnePlus' old stomping grounds
@@hand587 yeah Xiaomi is definitely doing something right, their phones are very much value-for-money. My friends bought the Poco F3 for real cheap and it's not bad, one of the best value phones of 2021
@@supremacy98 Are they using the poco f3 in the US? I noticed that phone doesn't support many bands here so I was curious how it performs network/signal wise
The 7T really was peak OnePlus. Beautiful 90hz 6.5inch flat display. Great triple cameras that got even better with Gcam mod. Fantastic battery life complimented with wicked fast charging, and some of the best OS of this generation.
Coming from Oneplus 7T user (I bought 7T right when it came out) and now I decided to upgrade to Oneplus 10 Pro and I can say its worth it. 7T was amazing phone but my opinion is that 10 Pro is better.
7 Pro is one of the best phones ever released, and I'm one of the proud owners since 2019. Sad, OP didn't learn from the success the 7 Pro had. The downfall it's very noticeable with every interation of this flagship.
Yep OnePlus 7 Pro here, nothing else like it, nothing else equivalent, nothing else improved enough. Tempted by a Pixel, but I just despise notches/donuts, whatever you wanna call them, I so rarely use the front camera I'd rather not have it.
@@iceytoa1 haha same. I used my dad's Pixel 6 for a while and it's pretty good, and I wouldn't mind the notch that much since the software experience is awesome!
I don’t know why but the release of this phone went totally under the radar for me. I was actually hyped about it, and according to quite a few other reviewers, OnePlus seems to have settled :(
I remember wanting a Oneplus 5 so bad when I was younger, I had a Samsung note 2 at the time and not much money to buy a phone off plan. Finally bought the Oneplus 6 and felt in love with the brand. A year later I bought the Oneplus 7 pro full specs at launch for the amazing screen it had at the time. It's still my favorite smartphone ever since 2019 and I still think it's the best phone they did. The new ones are a bit boring and it's sad because I love oxygenOS so much..
OnePlus 7 Pro is the best phone I have ever owned ( and still own ). I refuse to update the software from Oxygen OS 11 as well. The repairability, the cost, the customization, the software, it's the best of the best. It is the last OnePlus phone I will probably ever buy, sad to say. The "Never Settle" sticker on my water bottle keeps chipping away, and just like the company it will eventually fall off forever.
@@technologic667 dont risk with custom ROMs and fancy stuff, it will brick your phone. You just don't update and your good. I'm using 7pro with same android 11 for years and avoiding android 12.
OnePlus 6T was my first OnePlus phone and OnePlus 7T was the last one. After OnePlus 7T they became something else, no more flagship killer and the price got higher every year.
They became "something else" after 6/6T I think. Price remained under 550 until 6T (in their first Target market, India). After that, it kept jumping their prices and design had already became very "modern" by 6. It just became another flagship phone with that 749$ price tag on 7. Oh and it lost the "flagship killer" moniker after 5T, cause Poco F1 took that title then.
The Oneplus 6T was my first and last phone from them. It was solid (mostly) and dirt cheap when I brought it but battery life was inconsistent, software never got updated, and it was so unwieldy. Now I have an iPhone. Sad, wish they would return to what made them great.
Yep, I'm on the 7T and need a new phone - my wife needs the 7T. I'm looking at the S22 and even iPhone mini having never considered iOS. They've killed a good thing.
The 7 Pro is what everyone seems to love and use. Myself included. It just does so well, even after all these years... Its sad to see Oneplus not use the Skill they showed us befeore. Also Popup Camera please!
Still rocking my OnePlus 7 Pro. Last true enthusiast phone from OnePlus in my opinion. Took risks like the pop up camera (which I love, no hole punch!), was cheap, and overall a great phone. Disappointed by the path they ended up on..
not only your opinion.. it's an actual fact OnePlus 7 Pro was the true last enthusiast phone from the company.. I'm happy with my OnePlus 7 Pro and i think I will continue to use at one more year, because the phone still feels brand new.. no performance hickups... and I'm addicted to no notch, no punch hole display ❤️
I used to love OnePlus, bought their 3T, 5T and 7Pro and was obsessed but the past few years I haven't seen the same innovation and interest as I used to, I now have the S21 Ultra and love it 🙌🏻
@@bobmartin2513 I feel Samsung are still trying to push innovation or at least matching specs to prices whereas OnePlus continue to increase price with no real innovation or top of the range specs to match
If OnePlus released a new 7 Pro with updated battery and camera tech, I'd be all over it! The OnePlus 7 Pro was the peak. It was one of the best phones ever made. Since then, OnePlus hasn't been terrible, it's just been fairly generic. "Meh", compared with its competitors like Xiaomi.
I agree. The oneplus 7pro was the peak of this company. I 've been having mine for almost 3 years. It is time for me to retire it, but it won't be replaced by another oneplus that is for sure.
yeah, pretty surprised the only enthusiast phone nowadays only came from Xiaomi. and Google Pixel, if you have more money. Realme is a good competitors, but with BBK behind them, I think they'll be Oppo later just like Oneplus.
Months later, my 10 Pro is on OxyOS13 running the Nova 7 launcher and it has become a great device. Good speed, the camera system is much better, and battery life is all day (9-11 hrs SOT daily avg). Now add in the newer long term support (hopefully quick support) and it is a device I recommend.
Back then the dash charge was one of the main selling point beside the oxygen os. Now every other competitors also includes fast charging package, oxygen os was their last straw. After oxygen os gone, they actually settled
Same as many comments here, still using my Oneplus 7t pro and loving it, still runs smooth, battery is still holding up just as good as when i first bought it and love my pop up camera and no punch holes on my screen. Will consider switching only if they make something similar.
I also have the 7 pro, it's like still competing with the big dogs for as i see it. The only downside of this phone is the curved edges. Great phone tho
One important detail to add is that the ultra wide camera on the 10 pro unfortunately uses a smaller sensor than last year's oneplus 9 pro. So, that might explain why the shutter speed seems low since it has to compensate for the lack of extra light. Pretty disappointing since the ultra wide's huge sensor was a big pro of the 9 pro.
Watching this on my OP 7 pro. Probably the best phone of OnePlus till date. Sad how they haven't carried the legacy of the 7 pro and gone downhill instead of going uphill.
Watching this on my OnePlus 7 Pro and no plans to change it. Apart from having no wireless charging, it's a fantastic phone. A shame to hear that OnePlus have gone downhill since my phone was released.
I exchanged my oneplus 7 pro for a pixel 6 pro. Newer oneplus are just disguised oppos, there’s no oneplus left. Never looked back, even if my 7 pro was a really great phone in its days…
@@mstaken7716 for some reason some UA-camrs bought dummy of s22 series.. Unbox therapy for example, he makes video about dummy s22 series but later got deleted...
Still got the OnePlus 5 - 5 years old at this point and working really well, the camera is the only thing holding it back. For the last year I'd been planning to upgrade to OnePlus 10 when it launches but looking at this, I think I might end up at Google
I still have OP5. But yes facing the same issue that it is now lacking in camera. Recently switched to pixel 6 (worth it). But still keeping my other sim in OP5 😅
I went from a OnePlus 6 to a Pixel 4a after my OnePlus had charging problems. I don't regret it at all. The Pixel 4a and 5a are very similar to what a OnePlus phone was doing years ago as far as performance for a sane price.
My OnePlus 6 dead suddenly on me. Got me super panicked tho. Luckily enough, having my Mi A1 around and still fine. I can't stand using my XR for whatapps and yeah no split screen obviously. Might jumping to Realme with their Neo lineup. Asia Region. Well, Malaysia tbh. So, having Google Pixel sort of lack with parts I assume. Heck even my OnePlus 6 having problems for buying it's casing around my area. Having OIS on OnePlus 6 really handy for my video assignments. Wanted a Samsung but with that middle punch hole camera really bugging for me.
Now i know that collaborations are meant to make the phone better and sell more but its the exact opposite for oneplus considering the prices are now too high for what they actually are
Watching this on my OnePlus 7 Pro, been rocking this since July 2019 and it still runs like a dream. My next upgrade won't be within the OnePlus brand for sure!
Anything happened with OnePlus recently? All the comments here are more or less saying OnePlus has fallen into a new low. Is it the design/pricing of newer models?
3:49 For those who are wondering: I'm guessing the reason why 'second generation' is abbreviated as '2D' is because 2nd gen is '2代' in Chinese, which is pronounced as 'èr dài', hence '2D'.
They really peaked at the OnePlus 7 Pro imo.. I'm still using the Nebula blue 12gb variant, and it really sucks that they never went back to the pop-up camera design..
I have a OnePlus 7T Pro, and I can definitely say it was peak OnePlus back in 2019. If they make a REAL successor to this phone - that is waterproof, capable of wireless charging, has almost the same design and good ol' OxygenOS, and a gorgeous, 144Hz, curved QHD+ AMOLED - then I shall be the first one to buy it instead of the S22 Ultra that I am planning to buy.
I completely agree, I had my 7 Pro for a couple of years and it's still better than most phones. I love one plus phones, I had the original OPO and then the t5. The new ones didn't really impress me. Pixel 6 pro now for me...
I've been using op 5T since 2017. Till now it's been doing great. The oxygen OS is something of a big deal for me in op phones. If they remove it from the international variant I'll consider op dead to me. Really miss the old vibe op used to provide at the time of every launching event.
I bought OnePlus 7 Pro 2 years ago for 650$ and it was a big mistake, I wish I bought an iPhone back then. Since I have this phone there’s nothing good but only problems. On the second month my warp charge refused to work, i tried to contact OnePlus tech support and the only thing they told me was to restart the phone and try again. Then after around 5 months after buying my OnePlus 7 Pro they released the new Android 11. Suddenly after updating it the battery life was much worse, sometimes frame rate dropped from 90hz to 40-50hz without any significant reason and some functions stopped working. I’m happy OnePlus went downhill and I hope nobody makes the mistake I already made. Also I switched to iPhone 8 and I still consider this as an upgrade from that “flagship” OnePlus phone.
Last time I was impressed by a OnePlus phone was the 7Pro, I always hated notches. I am still waiting for a equally polished phone to come out with an underscreen camera.
I still use mine as well. The y have definitely settled after that. I got the watch, and I'm not happy at all. Maybe I'll have to forget about Oneplus and go for a Pixel
Wait until next year and they'll remove it too lol. And on the 12th gen phones they'll start wondering why their selling numbers have dropped and cancel the whole OnePlus thing lol. You just can't do any worse management than this. 7 Pro was the peak. RIP OnePlus - 2019. I have high hopes from the "Nothing" company
This! This! This! Oxygen OS & mute slider is the reason why I'm still keeping my 7 pro. Why don't more android phone manufacturers incorporate the slider?
I still remember the day when the 7 Pro launched with an High Refresh Rate Display and the Pop-up camera. I was so excited because of both the features . But to think that today I'd rather have OnePlus end their run is saddening (which they did now tbh "SETTLED")
I loved every second of my oneplus 8T, right up until yesterday when i updated it to oos12... Holy moly... My phone is 50% bricked. The change is so drastic going into the Oppo-Rebranded color OS, even the software engineers must have been surprised. Cuz' the phone somehow lost features with the update. Some notable issues: - The haptics have completely changed, vibrations feel like a 50€ phone now - The screen has gotten noticably dimmer - The fingerprint reader has changed, and fails to work around 1 in 4 times of use - They forgot to update the fonts/widgets, so using the Oneplus font, doesn't show the Oneplus font and widgets look like oneplus widgets, until dragged unto your background - Some system settings do nothing, because they are overwritten by new Color OS settings which you can find elsewhere in the menus - Gestures have gotten noticably less accurate, feeling more like a 100€ budget phone in terms of responsiveness - We've now got a combined 5 mental wellness modes?!?!: Zen mode, Bedtime mode, Work mode, Life mode & Focus mode ON TOP of the Vibrate/Silence slider -- Who needs that many modes?! - You can no longer remove certain google features like Discover Frankly, I am gutted. It honestly, truly - from the bottom of my heart - feels like my 550€ phone got turned into a 150€ budget device. Hopefully this is just my phone acting strange after the update, and no one else has to live with some of these issues.
Same. Love my 8T, but it went to shit when I updated. Even with the newest C.20 update it sucks. Been tempted to wipe it and put Lineage or something like that on it
Is it only me or anyone else got more excited to see S22 Ultra being teased in this video from 0:18 - 1:00 on the bottom right corner. Hope Samsung keep on impressing us again this year as well with their flagship.....😍
Had my OnePlus 7T Pro for a couple years & have no intention of swapping it anytime soon. Brilliant phone. OnePlus have certainly gone backwards & nothing else I've seen has interested me.
Almost everyone in the comment section can agree that the OnePlus 7 Pro could be one of the best phones ever created or at the very least OnePlus best phone it ever made. The hidden camera and notch less/punch hole less display is amazing! Yes, the pop up camera is prone to last a short amount of time if used a lot, but honestly I am too old to take selfies that I have only used it a few times and it was only to show it off to people. This is the only phone that got me to buy an android instead of an apple after owning an iphone for years. I love this phone and will not get rid of it until a phone with a camera like the one one the 7 Pro comes out. Enough said!
OnePlus 10 Pro is one of the best Android Phones on the market to this day. Fastest Charging, Best Battery Life, Fantastic Screen, Great Power and Performance. Just because it's not 500 bucks doesn't mean it's bad.
I really hope the love for the 7 Pro that's shown in the comments gets picked up by other companies. I'm still rocking it and there's no phone on the market I'd like to replace it with.
Right!! i want to upgrade my phone since it's been 3 years but i am soooooo conflicted as to what phone would be a good phone to replace the OnePlus 7 pro. I am thinking of just replacing the battery on it and factory resetting it and push it out until something actually good comes out. Or just getting the OnePlus 7 pro McLaren
@@erebostd How is the pixel? I'm still running my Op 7 Pro but lately the wide angle camera stopped working and the battery started to show its age... I was interested in the pixel but I've read contrasting opinions about it
OnePlus was always my dream phone I was so hyped when they launched the 7pro, which was way ahead of its time but after the 9 and 9pro it doesn't even matter
I'm still using the OP7 pro, hands down the best phone I've ever owned, the display on it is beautiful and there simply hasn't been another phone to come out since that's been enough of an upgrade to convince me to switch. That's not to mention that I can't imagine having to go back to a hole punch display. Sure on paper newer phones and processors have better performance but in real world use I can still play any game maxed out also games and media look great on this notchless display, and as a bonus I don't have the excessive heat issues of newer more powerful chips. Plus the stereo speakers sound great. As for OnePlus themselves...I think they peaked with the OP7 pro and have been going downhill ever since. When I do finally part with this phone I know for certain that I won't be getting a OnePlus. I don't think my battery has degraded as much as some others have but I'm certainly considering having a new battery installed and continuing to use this for another couple of years. Hopefully by then someone will have developed a decent under display camera to allow me to not have to compromise on a hole punch display.
@@metalhead11t6 That sucks man, I have heard it to be an issue on some of them, I had an issue about 8 months in where the screen developed a dead 'purple' pixel which very quickly started spreading and appearing all over the screen but fortunately I was able to have the screen replaced under warranty and it's been great since(touch wood). I know for myself in your situation I would likely get the screen replaced but understandably bad screen burn in likely doesn't instill confidence. If you upgraded to a different phone what did you end up going with? Just out of curiosity.
I loved the one plus 6t. It was simple and did what I needed it to do with an price that wasn’t completely insane. I’m in the market for a new phone and there are so many models with so many features and honestly it’s a bit much.

Same here. The pop up camera gives you a screen real estate that no Apple or Samsung phone can match. I love the 7 pro and will keep it for a year more atleast.
I miss the Oneplus 7 pro design that had the popup camera. For someone who hardly ever uses the selfie camera it was great.. and when it needed to be used it was a neat novelty feature.
A few OEMs tried that but it did not go well for them. I assume that it increased production costs and that failure rate on the manufacturing line along with weak uptake in the market made it a loser for One+? These gimmicks come and go, but moveable parts is not a good idea with a phone used 24/7 that needs water resistance.
@@andyH_England exactly, I knew from the start that the “pop up camera” was a flashy gimmick. Just like foldable phones. The technology should be used for something else. I laughed at the spam emails saying they caught me on my selfie camera and wanted BTC or they would release them.....that pop up camera was also a good privacy feature in my opinion
I have grown so appreciative of the alert slider on these phones. Mid conversation, entering a meeting, etc phone rings. Easy, slide it over and deal with it later.

I had a OnePlus and OxygenOS might have been the best OS you can have on your phone back then. But today other companies didn't just catch up, but passed OnePlus. Like Samsung did a great job with OneUI, Pixel phones are much cleaner, and others are getting more performance with their software. OxygenOS was leading anything, apart from the clean stock Android. Now they are - midfield at best.

Let's face it, phones peaked 1-2 years ago. You can make them faster and that is about it. All the other features are the same. We need better battery tech and more affordable mid range devices.
True, and we just need better software to maximize existing tech (e.g. camera performance). Law of diminishing returns, since 2019 phones have stayed pretty much the same with few tweaks here/there
i would actually like companies to rethink their release cycle and increase it due to this because its kinda redundant to release the similar thing each year
Yup, all new phones are basically just a screen now and nothing is upgraded besides the camera and processor. Hopefully folding phones / rolling phones will be perfected and become cheaper ( sub $1000 ) by 2024
I've been rocking the OnePlus 6 since 2018 and fortunately it's still working well. Sad to see the brand losing the appeal it had and I hope my phone lasts until I find a reliable replacement.
Why are the majority of tech reviewers so hard on OnePlus phones yet completley ignore Google Pixel's shortcomings? The Tensor chip is a real problem and gets ridiculously hot. That alone should be a deal breaker. I had to trade in my Pixel 6a after a couple of months because it would actually burn my hand using it to do basic things like browsing Gmail.
I'm still using a 7T and that's the peak of OnePlus family tbh. Ever since Carl Pei left the company, most of us knew the direction has changed and not for the better.
I have the OnePlus 7 Pro and I don't think I'll upgrade anytime soon. The full screen aspect with the pop up camera is so desirable for me that I can't imagine a front facing camera staring me in the face ever again. I did get the 8 gig version and I wish I got the fully speced out 12 gig ram one now that time is passing but I can't go back to that. I also have the Wauwei Matebook Pro because of the pop up camera in the keyboard. Features like that I wish would appear in other phones 😢
Yeah I'm pretty sure the government didn't like the fact they couldn't spy on ppl because the camera was hidden inside the frame so they made them change it
I bought 7T Pro last July 2019 and still loves it even though I bought S21 Ultra last Feb 2020. I can't leave the full screen view and 5G is not really a big deal right now. I still cant see myself not using my 7t Pro for about 2 years from now.
I remember watching your OnePlus 7 Pro review video, and that phone blew my mind, so much to where I bought it, still rocking it to this day with ZERO issues! But I do have to say, in my opinion, after the 7 Pro, OnePlus started to slowly go downhill. Fast forward to now, it's not even the same OnePlus anymore ...
The 7 pro is my perfect phone. Unfortunately I am forced to have AT&T, and they have decided not to support it going forward, so I am out of luck, I need to get a new phone. Not sure what to go for, because everything seems like a downgrade
@@reesr Eventually down the line when I want to upgrade, I'm now kind of lost on what to go for as initially I always thought I would stick to OnePlus and upgrade every 2-3 years. Let me know what you go for next!
I bought my OP6 when it launched and used it for more than a year without any problem. Nice phone for a very nice price considering everything it came with. While crossing the US (phone originally from Europe) the phone decided it was time to update the OS without requesting any confirmation from the user. Well that update COMPLETELY BRICKED the phone for days without a way of resetting the device. Apparently OxygenOS updates are not interchangeable if you are coming from a different continent (maybe they are today, idk). The very next day I was supposed to cross 300 miles of desert and if that had happened one day later than it did I would have been stranded in the middle of nowhere without a GPS. After trying to reset the device for hours (I lost a lot of photos and videos) I decided to go the safe way by buying an iPhone. Best decision ever. Couple years later and OP released a statement that customers' data had been stolen by hackers since 2014!!! What did OP do about it? NOTHING they just stopped replying to emails requesting more information about what had happened. OP has been going down the toilet since the OP7. The company completely changed and decided to settle.
@@holdenanderson7741 especially because I use my phone for almost everything (from work to get directions while traveling). The most important spec for me is reliability. My brother in law has a OP8 and it has been so far riddle with bugs making it almost unusable.
I bought my OPO, 3T and 6T in the U.S. and have had no problem using them overseas, traveling to Norway, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Croatia, Jordan, etc.
@@guywong unfortunately not everyone has the same experience and i'm pretty sure that there are people out there who have never experienced a single issue with their OP devices and would swear on them. Maybe your device didn't update while you were abroad, maybe it was a problem specific to that update, who knows. What I know is that I was left with no customer support, an expensive paperweight and a company that doesn't know what to tell their customers when their data gets stolen. Since then I've been using a different smartphone from a different company that can serve me hw and sw support almost everywhere if needed and knows how to handle customer's data. It ain't easy to get back customer's trust once lost and OP ain't trustworthy to my eyes.
The software on my OnePlus6 is just pure class. I never want a new OnePlus just because of its oppo collab. The old UI is just bold and minimalist and everything I need
I've always been a big "latest phone" guy, I was envious of a friend with the OPO, got the OP2, the OP3T, the OP5T, and the OP7PRO. It's very weird to hear from me... But I'd rather stick with the 7 Pro! No hole, good OOS, still very responsive. Honestly the newer phones seem like a downgrade to me. Sure, they have that new feature that the 7 pro doesn't have... But they take back so much stuff that the net "gain" is negative to me. Pretty sad to see OP go in this direction.
having literal moving parts in a phone is somehow a better alternative than a normal selfie cam? If you are like me and you go to the gym and to the beach everyday your phone would last about a month tops
I used the long-forgotten Oneplus Two for years after getting handed a real invite card by Co-Founder Carl Pei and it still works so well to this day though I'm on the S21 Ultra nowadays. Their message back then vs the message this phone sends is not even close to the same, not necessarily worse (I mean the two didn't even have NFC, weird place to cut corners) but hardly the bang for the buck master of the past who said "never settle" but sold a budget flagship phone that (tried) to settle in all the right places (The One and 3T were more successful at this) and we all just kinda accepted that.
But to be fair they have to survive, they can't keep selling good quality stuff at such a low price, they'll run out of money some day. At least Oneplus is still better than Samsung in terms of hardware lifespan and features.
@@pixels_per_inch they can survive and not charging too much, but just a lot of corners to cut. As for its life span it depends, it has a faster watt charger it can make the battery lifespan shorter, but software wise its lighter so it definitely last longer in its snappiness. But features Samsung definitely have more.
OnePlus 7 Pro, one of the most quality build and most durable smartphones I own to this day. I admired OnePlus for being a company that actually delivered such a high quality device. I don't know how I could replace this phone once the end nears.
@@furkandk2234 There are a lot of factors playing a role. Everyone is talking specifically about the OnePlus 7 Pro. Any changes compared to the 7 Pro like the 7T for example since it has a bigger battery can affect the experience with many other factors additionally. I can't say anything to the 7T, since I only have the 7 Pro. I bought mine fresh from the store June 2019.
I've been a diehard OnePlus fan since the beginning. Have loved everything up until the 9 and i really like the 9 (i know a lot of people don't but i like it) and it's my current phone, that being said i don't think I'm getting a OnePlus ever again. OnePlus has slowly been losing it's identity. It's no longer it's own phone and i say that because it just doesn't feel like it used to. If you've had any previous OnePlus you know what I'm talking about. I didn't have the 8 but i did have the 7 pro and the difference between that and the 9 is staggering. The 7 had that really cool selfie pop up camera which i never had seen in a smartphone before and the software/software customization was just about perfect but now it's like they aren't even the same brand. First off the OnePlus doesn't even look different than OPPO anymore. If you look at the OPPO Reno6 Pro it is the same exact design as the OnePlus 9 pro. To make matters worse now they aren't even using OxygenOS anymore, instead they are using Oppo's ColorOS & they are now blatantly using Oppo's charger. Am i buying a OnePlus or am i buying an OPPO branded as OnePlus? I don't want an OPPO i want a OnePlus. Man.... OnePlus's name used to seriously carry weight with it. I thought for sure OnePlus was going to continue to rise up and eventually be a major competitor with Apple and Samsung. You bet your ass if they stayed the original course they totally could have. Switching out OxygenOS for ColorOS is the final nail in the coffin for most of us. They are taking away the best aspects of the OnePlus brand and it's those aspects that made OnePlus what it is and was. Like you said in a previous video Marques, the quote from the Dark Knight applies to OnePlus now. "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
@@justaguyfromreddit I'm not saying anything bad about the 9 pro. However as someone who has loved OnePlus since the beginning, the decision to make the 10 ColorOS is the final nail in the coffin. OnePlus phones have been becoming more and more like Oppo with every new release and now they are the same phone. OxygenOS is what made the 9 down all the way to the beginning amazing phones. 7 was defiantly the best but I'm just saying I'm not getting another one after the 9. If you like it and want to get the 10 more power to you but I'm not.
@@TimKuat I actually don't like the 10 due to his camera. But what I mean is that I don't see the bad in merging with oppo if that means a good software.
I have been using Oneplus phones since 2014. First of all, Oneplus One was a revolution, a 300€$ phone that does what 600-700€$ phones like the Samsung S5, or the Iphone 5S/6, and with a singular design that outmatch others mobiles that time ,as refreshing. Then, after 2 years of heavy usage, I upgraded it for the Oneplus 5T in 2017 4T and am still using the 5T that works like a charm and bought it for half the price of a high end smartphone (500$w where the Iphone was like more than 1.000$) But this time, I suffered of Oneplus 5T design unconveniences. The phone build up a lot of dust in the microphone and charging socket to the point that the charger and headphones with wire won't stay connected, if I don't clean the socket meticulously. Beside this thing, the phone is perfet and still works like a charm after more than 4 years of heavy and daily usage (navigation, photography with more than a thousand of photo snapped in my galeries, streaming, gaming etc). But I am really concerned about this fusion with OPPO , and I am viewing it as a quality drop... Oneplus used to «Never Settled» as it leitmotif suggested. I was loyal to Oneplus for it's realiable phones but maybe I will quit the Oneplus ship and apply the «Never Settle» philosophy by going with another company for this new chapter of my mobile phone usage...
As someone who was hoping to get a OnePlus one back in the day, we sure have come a long way with the OnePlus Pro that just came out. I'm watching this with a Google Pixel 5 right now and I'm skeptical to get this or just grab a OnePlus 7 Pro. Thanks for the awesome video!
I have a 9 Pro and absolutely love it. But two years from now when it's time for replacement, I probably won't get a new OnePlus. Sad to see the brand go downhill like this...
Still remember how exciting it was to get an invite code to buy the OnePlus One.. those were some good days.
OnePlus is killing themselves slowly. If you live short you die a hero but if you live long enough one day you will see yourself become a villian. Edit: OnePlus phones are still good, however for value, there not very good like they used to be.
That's true mate I also got the invite to buy OnePlus one and the OnePlus X, I bought them both and loved them.

This 10 Pro processes well. It sharpens and is slightly less red so it doesn't really leave room for editing beyond colour...
I have the OnePlus 6 and 7T.. Was thinking of getting a strictly business device and based on the comments, the 7pro seems to be the way to go.
Still have my oneplus 6 and the battery life sucks very much now :(
I'm in the exact same boat.
Wouldn't change a single word in this and copy & paste this comment. It's like a perfect coincidence.
OP officially died this year.

Oh my these replies have been bombarded by the bots
I mean the phones are now just expensive flagships like every other phone nowadays. Not like the One+ 1/2 days.
They really peaked at the OnePlus 7 Pro imo.. I'm still using the Nebula blue 12gb variant, and it really sucks that they never went back to the pop-up camera design..
I was very close to buying a 7 Pro but I decided on an S10+ as it was a cheaper local listing ($175... I'm not even kidding. Almost no burn in too!)

Pretty sure marques said that in his video last January:-p
I have a OnePlus 7T Pro, and I can definitely say it was peak OnePlus back in 2019. If they make a REAL successor to this phone - that is waterproof, capable of wireless charging, has almost the same design and good ol' OxygenOS, and a gorgeous, 144Hz, curved QHD+ AMOLED - then I shall be the first one to buy it instead of the S22 Ultra that I am planning to buy.
I can argue that it was the 8T but that's pushing it ....
And how much are you willing to pay for that dream phone of yours?
I completely agree, I had my 7 Pro for a couple of years and it's still better than most phones. I love one plus phones, I had the original OPO and then the t5. The new ones didn't really impress me. Pixel 6 pro now for me...

I still use the 7pro. Have not found any phone which has no notch. I want a phone with no selfie camera.
I still use mine as well. The y have definitely settled after that. I got the watch, and I'm not happy at all. Maybe I'll have to forget about Oneplus and go for a Pixel

The best thing about OnePlus is the mute slider. They ruined everything else.

I hate that slider. I keep hitting it by mistake or when i take it out of/in the pocket.
This! This!

@@johnmshaw49 not at all that phone was great. I am much more disappointed with my 9Pro now.
Some notable issues:
- The haptics have completely changed, vibrations feel like a 50€ phone now
- The screen has gotten noticably dimmer
- The fingerprint reader has changed, and fails to work around 1 in 4 times of use
- They forgot to update the fonts/widgets, so using the Oneplus font, doesn't show the Oneplus font and widgets look like oneplus widgets, until dragged unto your background
- Some system settings do nothing, because they are overwritten by new Color OS settings which you can find elsewhere in the menus
- Gestures have gotten noticably less accurate, feeling more like a 100€ budget phone in terms of responsiveness
- We've now got a combined 5 mental wellness modes?!?!: Zen mode, Bedtime mode, Work mode, Life mode & Focus mode ON TOP of the Vibrate/Silence slider -- Who needs that many modes?!
- You can no longer remove certain google features like Discover
Frankly, I am gutted.
It honestly, truly - from the bottom of my heart - feels like my 550€ phone got turned into a 150€ budget device. Hopefully this is just my phone acting strange after the update, and no one else has to live with some of these issues.

I replaced mine with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 but only because I could trade it in(the 1+) for $1000 credit. Still missing that uninterrupted display.
Right!! i want to upgrade my phone since it's been 3 years but i am soooooo conflicted as to what phone would be a good phone to replace the OnePlus 7 pro.
Don't upgrade. I got OP9 9 months ago, hands down worst phone in 14 years. The only thing I like is the camera. Everything else is non stop glitch.

why there is no pop up camera in phones nowadays
@@metalhead11t6 That sucks man, I have heard it to be an issue on some of them, I had an issue about 8 months in where the screen developed a dead 'purple' pixel which very quickly started spreading and appearing all over the screen but fortunately I was able to have the screen replaced under warranty and it's been great since(touch wood). I know for myself in your situation I would likely get the screen replaced but understandably bad screen burn in likely doesn't instill confidence.
If you upgraded to a different phone what did you end up going with? Just out of curiosity.

A few OEMs tried that but it did not go well for them. Their message back then vs the message this phone sends is not even close to the same, not necessarily worse (I mean the two didn't even have NFC, weird place to cut corners) but hardly the bang for the buck master of the past who said "never settle" but sold a budget flagship phone that (tried) to settle in all the right places (The One and 3T were more successful at this) and we all just kinda accepted that.
Nobody cares 🙄🙄🙄
But to be fair they have to survive, they can't keep selling good quality stuff at such a low price, they'll run out of money some day. At least Oneplus is still better than Samsung in terms of hardware lifespan and features.
@@pixels_per_inch they can survive and not charging too much, but just a lot of corners to cut. As for its life span it depends, it has a faster watt charger it can make the battery lifespan shorter, but software wise its lighter so it definitely last longer in its snappiness. But features Samsung definitely have more.
One plus hasn’t been the same since the 7 pro probably one of my favorite phones of all time design wise
Looks like someone settled 🥱
lol
OnePlus 7 Pro, one of the most quality build and most durable smartphones I own to this day. I admired OnePlus for being a company that actually delivered such a high quality device. I don't know how I could replace this phone once the end nears.
Oneplus is shit i have it
@@furkandk2234 Which model ? And did you buy it fresh from factory ?
Because if it's a used phone you bought then dont complain lol
@@CobraPhobic Oneplus 7t
@@furkandk2234 There are a lot of factors playing a role.
Everyone is talking specifically about the OnePlus 7 Pro. Any changes compared to the 7 Pro like the 7T for example since it has a bigger battery can affect the experience with many other factors additionally.
I can't say anything to the 7T, since I only have the 7 Pro. I bought mine fresh from the store June 2019.
Notice at the right side white S22 Ultra was kept 0:32

Very rightly said brother
@@swetanshukumar2774 thanks man it came from the heart. Was really hoping OnePlus would be the brand i use forever but sadly it isn't.
Yes but...what's the problem? I have the 9pro and it is amazing after the last update
Then, after 2 years of heavy usage, I upgraded it for the Oneplus 5T in 2017 4T and am still using the 5T that works like a charm and bought it for half the price of a high end smartphone (500$w where the Iphone was like more than 1.000$)
But this time, I suffered of Oneplus 5T design unconveniences.
I have used OnePlus 2, 5 and am currently using 7 Pro and feel no need to upgrade, and may even consider moving away from OP
Im not gonna lie. This phone flew right over my head
0:43 Spoiler Alert There's a S22 Ultra in the background. Or else its just a Model
I have a 9 Pro and absolutely love it. But two years from now when it's time for replacement, I probably won't get a new OnePlus. Sad to see the brand go downhill like this...
Hey Marques , we need an updated video on this one lad. It would be greatly appreciated. Keep it up!
