This isn't an accurate review unless I missed it you didn't mention run times. You showed how much load it can handle but not for how long. If you can easily plug it in to charge it then you don't really need it do you... but the Ev plug was a cool option.
I mean if he ran it to 90% with an approximate run time we could extrapolate from that not perfect but a decent gauge
3600 kWh battery, that delivers 3600 W of power, will run for:
1 hour @ 3600 W
2 hours @ 1800 W
3 hours at 1200 W
Not very long.
It isn't going to run an a.c. or anything substantial.
He just had it running an air conditioner. But no doubt it would not run it for any amount of time. Go with the gas.
Exactly so it's not really even comparable. It definitely has its uses as a large battery pack. But not practical for AC or any large loads . I agree it being quite is nice but if your cooking you'll live with the generator noise to have AC
In a SHTF scenario, you really need both. You'll need the generator to charge the Ecoflow. Once charged, the generator can take a rest as you move the Ecoflow around the house to power your daily needs.

@@anoopm2022 Much depends on where you live and if it's winter or summer. Where I live (60 miles below the Canadian border), there is very little sun in winter, plenty in summer. In winter I would not expect much from my solar panels (Bluetti). If there is not much sun, you might need many days to charge the unit. Where I live, the days are 8 hours long on December 21st. At this time of year, you might have only an hour our so of full sun and it would not be very intense, with the southern angle. Back in 2015, we considered solar for another project and solar insolation measurement showed that we received only 5 hours of full sun that December. The "sun belt", where you might have a chance to power an entire house runs from Texas to Los Angeles approximately. In Germany, they have set up solar and wind so that they can theoretically generate 155% of their needs, BUT reality says that they're only getting 7% of their needs met by the renewables. Germany's BIG mistake was to take nuclear offline and they will now pay a hefty price for it! Full sun, where I live is between 1100 and 1300 watts per square meter. If a small cloud blocks the sun, this drops to about 135 watts (90% loss), and if it is overcast it drops to 35 watts, or about 3%. You will get no power unless there is full sun. In Arizona, (I lived there for 28 years), I considered solar, (at a time when panels cost a lot more), and I could only count on about 5 hours of "full sun" in a stationary set of panels. Tracking the sun is better, but more costly and not doable in many instances. Full sun means that the rays of the sun are perpendicular to the panels, no angularity at all.
@@lewishodge4935 Well said. I live in the UK and, even in the Summer, solar energy isn't all that reliable; in the Winter, I'd be better off trying to run a generator from a hamster wheel. Even wind is unreliable, especially if you live in a valley rather than on top of a hill.
I'm currently researching solutions for emergency power for the coming winter and have come to the conclusion that having a mixture of battery banks that give the option of solar or wind charging, as well as a petrol generator is probably the way to go. I'm not looking at anything as pricey as this Ecoflow system, though - it's cool for what it is, but it's bloody expensive.
Fundamentally, though, I don't see a better one-device solution than a petrol generator, although even that has drawbacks if outside space is limited. It's all about individual circumstance.
@@hudldevice1092 How about a bicycle hooked up to an automobile generator, then run through an inverter? The exercise can't hurt, maybe.
A big oversight is that price points were not mentioned. Ecoflow is 2x cost of Honda and doesn't come with solar panels so that this unit is a high premium product. He did briefly mentioned weather, you tend to lose power in bad weather and sometimes can last for days were solar charging not much of an option. Also, I would rather wait a bit longer for solid state batteries that are smaller and lighter.
It's been a while, and and the batteries have greatly improved in quality and price. You're now looking at 70cents per watt hour. In an emergency, i don't want people to know I have a gas generator, so I would just charge the batter in an hour and run stuff i need for 5 hours (fridge, TVs, interwebs).
After 10 years and MORE that Honda generator will still be running and working fine with proper maintenance that lithium battery will not last you two years. It’s NOT there yet.
These now use Lithium Iron Phosphate, the chemistry is different from your phone or laptop. They'll last much longer than 2 years. But you're probably right about the 10 year span.
However, with solar panels and heavy use, you'll have saved thousands of dollars in fuel. Enough to buy another one, which of course by then will be 3x the capacity at half the price.
Actually it is here. These batteries last 10 years+ and over 3500 cycles before they start to lose capacity. They still work long after that at reduced capacity. Bluetti coming out next month will be even better than this Ecoflow. Only issue is there very expensive.
Looks like a good unit for what it is, but don’t feel you adequately discussed the longevity concern. Unit has a big peak load, but only 3.6 kW of capacity. You could be running small air conditioner, microwave, etc, say 1800 Watts of load and it’s great for 2 hours until the unit is totally discharged. Then you’re in the dark like everyone else. Honda, on the other hand probably runs over 24 hrs on 5 gallons of fuel. I ran my home on my Yamaha 3000 last year for 2 days after hurricane Laura and 2 days after hurricane Delta and only used about 7 gal a day for lights, fridge, freezer, fans, microwave, and a room air conditioner. A battery unit could be helpful longer term, but at quite a reduced load.
One also has to take into account the average number of cloudy days vs sunny days where you live. Where I am (coastal VA), for instance, I just don't think solar generators are viable. Too many rainy/cloudy days.
Use the Honda to charge the essentially big battery bank to supplement on cloudy days. I think it works better as a supplement not a full on replacement.
I would get one just for the excuse to get a turbine, they just look cool. Also, how many days do you not have one or the other?
And the sound is a huge bonus. That just made me think of something, are there any sterling generators?

Those are usually pretty slow to recharge on solar! Really its almost a joke to call it a solar generator.
no one should be using that glorified duracell for anything other than casual weekend trips to established, crowded, main stream campsites. it is nothing anyone should be trusting their safety or well being to, it *will* fail you when you need it most.
Pick one? The Honda generator. Why? because when the battery goes dead, which it will do, you need the Honda to recharge it. Its not like the EcoFlow isn't incredibly useful, it definitely is, but for those dark stormy nights and snowstorms when the power goes out, you will be glad you have the Honda.
And the honda can be used at any moment of the year day or night
@@Mynameischef - Most people don't have that but if they did, I suppose you would be correct. Problem is, most people don't have 50K to spend on a decent system. In the mean time, I think the EcpFlow is a good thing to use in a campground.
It just depends on where you live. I’m in California and recently “public safety shut offs” and rolling blackouts are now common. This would be nice because It can get charged by solar, which California has plenty of. But I think I would still feel more comfortable with a gas generator as a backup.

I will Love to watch that! I prefer to have generator gas or Diesel engine. Design long at last engine if care of carburetor and oil change. Battery generator will only last might 3-10 years (not sure?) then have to buy other. Keeps buy generator battery.

its not a review. its an ad read. very poor transparency on his part. there was no testing or real comparison it was simply him reading the list of features off of the brochure, with the marketing departments talking point of "noisy generators bad"

This is a battery pack, not a generator. I'd love to see this thing charged and used purely off solar. I'm not interested in a 100 lb brick of 1 hour of AC.
Close but it has to do with the capability of recharging with solar. Converting solar/ wind to battery is why it’s considered a generator. He is just using it as a battery pack/ inverter during this test.

Right? I'm not sure how they can call it a "solar generator" when it's just the battery pack that needs to be charged via some external source, not necessarily solar. For anyone claiming he's wrong, this doesn't test the power generation system. And I can guarantee you that with the amount of solar panels you would reasonably be able to run that it would not keep up with the demands of many appliances. You definitely won't be running AC very long and not sustaining it. That's also a tiny gas generator.

You are exactly correct. Technically it's a power station. It becomes a solar generator when combined with solar panels. Most people call the unit itself a solar generator though, but it's not by itself

@@michaelmactavish1728 I have a bluetti ac200 p. It's similar to the one he's showing now. It is a supplement to my gasoline generator. After Hurricane Laura, gas was becoming hard to find. We had plenty but on the 10th day I was starting to run low on fuel. The solar generator system is a great supplement to my gas generator to get me by until I can find more fuel. It's definitely not a standalone solution, just a supplement to my gasoline generator. And that's not even talkin about if and when gas is either $20 a gallon or unavailable at all.
@@rawknbearbell7032 This is my plan, use the "solar generator" as the primary device during a power outage and recharge with solar as I can, but I have a small gas generator to recharge as needed, that way I do not have to run the generator all the time, but can have some power all the time.
The Honda is a generator...it creates power from mechanical energy...the Ecoflow is a power storage device (battery)...it does not create power...it only holds it for later use.
Is there a functional difference? Not in my world.
It's a solar generator. It generates power when the system is used in conjunction with a solar panel.
@@one4320 have you ever dealt with a hurricane? If you have you would want either a Honda or Harbor Freight gasoline generator. This battery storage device would be good as a “middle man” in the mix. As for solar panels, you might not be able to use them for 24-72 hours depending on rainfall and winds. Flooding might also be an issue for solar panels if you put them on the ground. Yes, a genny may also have to be elevated.
I have also lived through several blizzards where solar panels would become wind tossed trash rather quickly.

If the fast charger takes 3 hours to recharge, it seems like the solar panel would take days.

I've seen images of campers with the roof covered with solar panels. There's also many solar options that are compact, like the folding ones
About 4 to 8 hours connected to 1200 watts of solar. All depending on your exact conditions.

You'd need some serious house-like panels rated at 300 watts each (and 45lbs each) in order to refuel this puppy in a day with clear skies. I'm disappointed that the cost and ability of refueling was not covered more objectively and clearly.

I have a generator that they let the oil run too low at a construction site. Repaired the engine. I've been using it ever since. Probably 15 years now. Rock solid B&S engine.

You have to have both. Gasoline doesn't come out of a spigot in your garage. And solar power is definitely not totally reliable just yet. You pop 1 power resistor in that module or short out a PCB, that's it you're dead! No more output power until you can fix it, if you can.
Do like my neighbor does. He built his own 7200 watt hour lithium battery inverter pack, has a Honda eu3000i gas generator, a Kohler 3kw natural gas gen set, and an Onan 7500 watt diesel RV gen set. He restores generators for fun so I keep on his good side.

Far as I'm concerned I'll hook up my bicycle to a lithium battery and charge it can't rely on the sun being out where I live and if I need to plug it in why in the world do I need the generator? All he really showcased was a power bank which is cheaper then a generator.... show me the generating of power not just the storage and output.

I get very irritated by the description of a "battery" as a generator. The electricity is "generated" by the solar panels . Why is this nonsense perpetuated?
Because china and Biden are killing Americas petrochemical industry while telling the world power comes from little Chinese boxes of highly pollutant batteries they call "generators". When these all-in-one wonders go faulty and gas is 10$ a gallon the masses will not even see a problem.

Definitely would stick with my Honda. I use it doing construction work and it powers a circular saw and 4 battery chargers it runs great use eco mode so it only makes noise when your making a cut. The main thing is run time. I fill up my Honda and it will run for 12 hours no problem if the electric generator/battery could do that I would be impressed. run time and reliability are the most important things with generators especially at this price point

My Jackery 1000 kept me and my wife in lights, TV, computer and frig during the great Texas power grid failure. Ran my solar panels into the house to charge the unit. Five days down no electricity no problem. Heated with a wood stove.

You can charge the battery as you drive in any car. I have 2 car jump starter with a led acid battery built in and 120 volt outlets that plugs into the lighter to recharge when on the go.

Is this just a giant battery? Why did you not test the solar “generation”? If you have to plug it into a wall to get power, then it defeats the purpose of having a generator. I can understand wanting a big battery but it’s just not useful for the power demands you wanted to put on it, 2% in 5 minutes means you’re getting max 4 hours of AC off of this thing.

This seems to be a great option for an off-grid cabin with a large fixed solar array. However, it costs nearly 4 times what my Yamaha 2000 generator cost. What I would like to see is if you could run a small A/C unit thru it during the day while it maintained a charge for nighttime use.
It could; during the day, the solar "generator" (i think they are more battery than anything) works as pass through. It powers stuff, and the excess energy is stored. A small AC draws about 400 watts, and these generators can take in like 1800 watts.

While it may be pricier than some traditional generators, its massive capacity and fast recharge time make it a worthwhile investment. Running a small A/C unit during the day while maintaining a charge for nighttime use should be possible with its powerful output. Happy camping and enjoy your quality family time!
What you should do is have both! Charge the big battery with the honda generator, then use the stored energy at night.
That’s a lot of money though lol, it would be better to get solar to go with it or something similar.
@@bryanthornburg8636 Yep, using a gas generator to charge it should be last option if there's no sun available. Very inefficient; fuel to create power, inverter to turn it into AC, back to DC in the Ecoflow to store it.
Just as an experiment I tried it with my gas generator and solar generator, and it didn’t seem to want to charge. I should mess with it some more and make a video on it. My solar generator takes so long to charge that I don’t think it would be a good option though.

Honda generates power with gasoline; runs til fuel runs out; solar generator runs j til battery drains.
Solar generator can run indoors no fumes. Honda can’t. Plug in “fuel” - solar panels and it runs 2000-6000 cycles. Same sorta as Honda. Both options provide usefulness. Both have equal watts. Do t buy one if your have problem with it. Thisnis a review of what he’s doing

I like these things and even own one myself. However, when you consider the battery capacity of 3600 Wh, an inverter efficiency of 90% and a discharge floor of 10%, you can really only count on 2916 Wh of usable energy. That's still pretty good but using an RV AC as an example of choosing this over a gas inverter/generator? At 1600W, an RV AC unit would deplete this Ecoflow in about 1.82 hours. Then it would be unusable until recharged.

Looked at these after our ice storm this past year and the resulting nearly week long power outage. Our Honda kept things going, but gasoline was in short supply a couple times and it wouldn't run the well pump. I've since increased our gasoline storage, but also started a solar power build, built into a trailer. Looking forward to it.
I'm missing the old-school Wranglerstar videos. I miss the feeling of being along for the ride on an average day on the homestead and felt like we were just hanging out. I hope we can get more of those types of videos in the future.

Brad, when Wranglerstar shown the wattage, divide that by the total battery capacity of 3600Wh. As the other poster mentioned, about three hours.
Just last week, I bought a generator to run an air conditioner in my camper van. Yep, I'm "that guy".
But when you are at the campground, everyone else is running the genny, so you are still listening to the raquet’. This is coming from a off grid solar guy. But now we know, a nice 15 minute video from your wrangler star equals $3500
Kinda weird that that *solar generator* doesn't have a *solar* panel to *generate* any power with.
It's pretty cool for keeping the electronics on while off-grid. But a $1700 powerbank is a hard sell.
I mean it's one feature rich product with a massive battery. 1,700 is a lot I agree but this is far from an entry level version.

Its not a "solar generator" it is an energy storage device tricked out to allow for various inputs and outputs. The "generator" would be the solar panel that "generates" electricity from sunlight.
Having said that, set up properly this kind of battery /power bank could be very useful

@@richardblank6333 The Honda is *capable* of generating power. The EcoFlow is not able to generate power. Because as it is, it's just a fancy battery. Which is why they should have at least shipped it with a big panel.
LiPo solar generator tech is so great these days, we've stopped installing AGM dual-battery systems in off-road/camping rigs. Separate lithium power, isolated from your rig, some throwout foldable solar panels for ultimate flexibility. And charge it with your alternator while driving. It's near perfect.
I was thinking same. I travel for work and am overnight about 1 night per week on average...got sick and tired of snotty hotel workers...and the fact they seldom wash the covers on the beds (I only stay at Hilton or better) so I outfitted a large van for my overnights. Ended up with a 2500W Magnasine and 4 deep cycle lead acid deep cycles. This works well but was a LOT of work. I think the next van build will be using something like this as the battery core...plug n play convenience, plus in a power outage I can take it from tenant to tenant keeping the furnace running for a time.
The eco flow unit is impressive, and I appreciate the fact that you were up front about them sponsoring this video, because it is not really a solar generator. It’s a battery that can be charged with solar panels, household electricity outlets, or with a real Honda generator. It stores electricity - it doesn’t generate it, so it’s a battery. Like any battery, the real test is in how long it lasts. If you go camping and forget to bring along your Honda to charge this battery, you won’t be enjoying the AC for very long. I’d love to see you do a no-strings attached assessment of this thing. It seems very useful and would have its place if you have solar panels to charge it, but how many panels do you need, and how long would they take to charge it?
I think this is an important questions: How field-serviceable and repairable is the EcoFlow compared to the Honda? In survival mode, fancy electronics depending on microcontroller and IC chips may be worthless if they break IMO.
We have the Ecoflow DP and had a power surge damage it while it was connected to an AC wall outlet. We couldn't charge it or use the energy stored in it. I had to send it back for a new unit. (Took seven days)
These Power Stations are not field worthy. When they brake, there is nothing you can do about it.
Eco flow must have a massive marketing budget. I’ve been seeing a lot of youtubers promoting these. Would love to have one but a little out of my price range.

Quick correction on the capacity: the Honda is 2,000watts or 2kw, and the eco flow is 3,600watts or 3.6kw. Not 2,000kw. That is a semi truck sized generator for running a whole commercial building.
You are missing the point. The solar generator batteries can run dead in an hour and a half. The little Honda can run for a week as long as you refuel it and check the oil. The Honda eu2200i is smaller than the Ecoflow, too. Somebody erred in mistakenly saying 2000kw.
@@kimmer6 I think you're missing the point. I was only correcting the wattage stated, not the kWh of either. Unfortunately kWh does go unnoticed most of the time until you realize you can only use the battery for 30 minutes before it's flat. Common issue in commercial storage applications for batteries.
The EcoFlow unit is a beautiful thing, but your comparison was woefully incomplete! How long will that EcoFlow unit carry the entire load of that travel trailer without recharge, vs the Honda generator’s need to be refueled. And what is the initial cost of the EcoFlow vs the cost of the Honda,

The Honda's fuel consumption would be around 0.2 GPH. You can easily expect 5-hours of runtime running a 10K BTU A/C per gallon of fuel. The battery 'generator' he tested would last around 3-hours in comparison.
It’s wrong for you to not mention cost of the unit! Everyone cant afford that luxury or take out a loan to cover it. I’d have to opt for the noise and store some gasoline.

It looks like another great concept. Being a kickstart it probably will take time for market forces to have impact on true pricing. Glad to hear about this, been doing research for quite awhile. Adding to the list of potentials.
The two can complement each other. When solar , shore/ wall power isn't available you can use the gas generator to charge the Ecoflow. They are not mutually exclusive. It adds flexibility.

I have 3 100amp hour Battleborn Batteries and 400 watt Renogy solar panels on my 33ft 5th wheel and love it. I also have a dc to dc charger to charge the 3 batteries while driving. Keep supplying us with the great content!!

We really have become dependent on power. The year we had three hurricanes come through down here in Central FL during the heat of summer, many of us lived without any source of power. Our family was without only for 12 days, but many in our area were weeks without. Most survived. Remember our pioneer roots and take the rough times as a challenge. As a 74 year old woman, I have lived without running water or power, no cell, no tv, no land line in a one room cabin in the VA mountains. We can really find out what we're made of in those circumstances. I'll take challenge over comfortability anytime.

I am sorry but I don’t like the narrative on this video. I found that he was reaching to make the battery generator sound so good. I have little experience with this sort of stuff but I know a little. Such as Honda make generators with that size and it has different plugs. A better comparison is to buy a newer Honda and compare the two (electric and newer Honda with different plugs). As well as he made a point to say the Honda is loud and that’s why he didn’t take it out. His camper has a generator built in so he would most likely only use the Honda in an emergency. Another point he made was you can’t use the Honda without gas, while in the same sentence said to drive somewhere. If you don’t have gas for your generator how would you have gas for your vehicle?

@@thomascarroll1916 24h charge time and that's from dead. If you have it charging while it's in use you likely don't have to worry about battery consumption when the sun goes down.

I feel like the standard gas Genny is something you always want to have for emergencies. The big battery system (that somehow gets called a generator) is what I want to use as my primary. I totally agree about the noise pollution btw. I wonder how a simple vented wooden box lined with soundboard would do as a suppressed.
I bought the EcoFlow river max and their 110 w panel after the whole debacle in Texas when my dad was trapped there unable to return home and without anything to keep him warm. We have used it over landing as well and it works great. No outages yet where I live but I’m sure it’ll be of use soon enough.
"Which is best"? There is no best, there are always different tools for every job. The Gas powered gen can run for as long as you have gas for it, and you can be in the middle of nowhere. The solar gen can run as long as it has power, and you have to give it power to give you power at a later time, so if you have no way to charge it then it's useless. Two totally different tools, neither is "BEST"

@@CainnechK if you read on there website it says the noise level is 48-60 db at 1 meter depending on draw. Thats the same level as the honda.
@@tom_ad9343 skid load of gas isn’t cheap. Many comments did the solar generator because of code. And when the stations shut down when electricity is lost the gas stations are closed. No access to fuel!!

Wranglerstar's done videos on the 5 essential fuel to store on site in case of an emergency shortage (i.e. gasoline, propane, wood, diesel, and kerosene), oddly solar panels/ with storage didn't make his list.
Cody, I love the idea of having this kind of back up for our home. Also I saw that small heater and I really need something like that for heating up my bathroom. We have high ceilings and during the winter months it’s really hard to take a shower because it’s just way too cold. If you know where I can buy a portable heater that I would only have to use it for my bathroom. I hope someone reads my comment and passes it along to you it would please me very much. Seems every paid promotion video on UA-cam are basically dishonest. While gushing about all the eco flow can run, he doesn’t mention that 2 hour until dead on the display. In fact he covered it up with the phone. Remember when this channel gave honest reviews and straight talk? Me too,
I use solar and have for years. I use everything as 12 volts because car LED headlights in your house are more than you need. 12 volt u.s.b chargers keep my phones and tables charged and a 2000 watt inverter will power my gas furnace fan. I can also charge off the car if I need to. I set up 2 friends for the cost of $500

@@Stellar-Cowboy yea, I've looked into that. The metrics used to measure freedom, unsurprisingly enough, don't actually take into account anything I'd call freedom. Freedom isn't getting taxed to death and then given an extra two weeks vacation by the government, freedom isn't how happy people are, and freedom isn't even purchasing power. I've seen all three of those used to try and discredit American freedom, but all they do is make the authors of such studies look petty and hateful. Our first two amendments provide us exponentially more freedom than any other first world country on Earth, and I only specify 3rd world because I could go be free in the depths of the Congo, but that isn't exactly the subject at hand.

This is the type of thing that fits my situation, living in apartment complex. It’s a bit awkward for me to be storing things like fuel, so I got myself a battery & solar panel, just to have as a small bit of security if SHTF.
I’m sure they both have pro’s and con’s, but at least you wouldn’t be reliant on gas stations if there are fuel shortages/rationing or w/e.
Just finished building a decently large lithium iron battery bank for this purpose. I haven't yet tested its capacity but my estimate is 5,000 to 6,000 watt hours. Most people want to get into a solar vs gas argument, but what they don't even think about is how well a battery and gas generator can work together also. I built this to use with solar panels primarily, but if needed I can charge it with a gas generator also. My parents had a week long outage last year from a hurricane. This happens once every 2-3 years probably. We had to run a big generator for hours just to power a fridge and couple of freezers. With a battery you would only need to run the generator at max probably about 4 hours a day, since I dont have some way to rapid charge the battery.
While running the generator it can be charging the battery and carrying your load, once the generator is off the battery can carry the load the other 20 hours (depending how big your battery is, how much your load is, ect) and then repeat. I haven't run any numbers, but this theoretically should make using your generator much more efficient also. By being able to run it for 3-4 hours at 50% or greater load, instead of 10 hours at 15% load on average.
That's a great point. Gas generators will produce a lot of electricity which could be a waste for people who no longer need to power high energy consumptive appliances. Its like $70 a day in gas costs to run a generator (@ $5 per gallon prices of California). The situation I'd like to be ready for is an extended SHTF scenario, so having a solar generator or some kind of battery bank storage makes sense as I can extend the length of power by only plugging in what is needed. With someone on 100% gas generator they using all that power and gas even if they only need to keep one lightbulb on.
You'd need a huge solar array to charge that in anything like a reasonable time.
Sadly it can discharge 3,000 watts but can only handle 1,200 watts for charging. LOL

well, 10 yrs probably.
DeltaPro has LiFePO4 batteries... with 6500+ duty cycle. It will last a very very long time.
Depends on how you use it and what the composition is. They can degrade quickly if stored at high states of charge or draining them past 10%. Best if you use them 80% charge down to 20% discharge. Without knowing how the internal BMS is set, you wouldnt know its max charge and min charge cutoffs are. But under regular use at medium load operations you could probably get 5 years out of it before you notice degraded battery life and performance.
@@chrism5508 I was thinking of the same... set it to 80% charge for storage. Use it when needed and then go from there. At the end of the need, store it at 80%. At least once a year or so, use it to cycle battery to keep it in good health.
Thats the best part....likely the other electronics in the unit( inverter, charge controller or bms) will die long before the batteries will and itll be 100lb brick that you cant service. All in on is good for the manufacturers but not consumers. Buy the separate components learn how it all works and build your own. And then if any part dies you can replace the part and not toss the rest. This is essentially a commercial hope everyone understood that.
When the power runs out in the Ecoflow, which will be soon if you're running a home, you have to plug it back in to an outlet or use solar which is not immediate. It costs more than double or triple of something like a Honda EU 1000i. This is not a replacement for an emergency generator IMHO. It would be good to have both.
I went with the ecoflo delta, and it's got everything we need, and a lot more portable. These are great products.

Sounds like you’re pushing the eco flow pretty hard. I’ve got dual Honda’s for my camper and love it. They’re pretty quiet compared to others I’ve heard. How long will the eco last at peak? Do you have to buy a solar panel to charge the eco also?
At best, new battery, full charge down to zero, a little under an hour and a half.
I bought an Ecoflow Delta 1300 about a year ago. Great unit. Charges in one hour, and more portable. The best option on that pro unit is the ev charger.
only problem i saw in the test was the charging time approximation. because of how lithium batteries charge they will charge fastest from 0-30 then start trickle charging to keep stress on the batter down. cant say for sure as i don’t have the generator but full charge time is probably 6 hours
Can’t assume a linear fast charge rate. EV’s and phones go fast from 0 to 80% then drops off charge rate.

I don't know about this video. You are essentially comparing a generator to a battery backup. Two completely different usages and somehow choose the battery backup over the generator for the best generator. You did an excellent job showing all the perks of a solar/battery pack and I agree that it is super useful for many tasks over a generator, but it is not a 24/7 backup solution (hence why most battery backup applications are designed to be used with generators coming online shortly after a power outage). Probably great in a city setting, but I'd never bet on a limited time backup for a rural setting where outages often last for days if not weeks during disasters.
The EcoFlow is a really nice solar power unit; however, keep your your Honda gas generator as backup for charging. Eventually, when the mains go down and the Sun is not shining, the gas generator might be the only means on hand to charge the solar power unit.
I could buy a gas generator, and enough gas to run it longer than the electric batteries life and still have money left over.

thanks, I am getting one with an extra battery and the smart house panel for less than a tesla wall unit. UPS for the house and a mobile genny. Not sure you mentioned it ,but with the panel,you can buy your power off peak and use it later with the app. This and my 2200i will make a beautiful pair.
I don't see one being optimal without the other. Especially during emergencies. Plus, the Honda can run off propane also. Propane is easily stored away with no expiration date. I wouldn't feel comfortable without both. Honda's are super quiet and even more quiet when out in a sound box with ventilation.
I came here to say that I have BOTH! they each do certain things well.
Take a camper with no solar out to the middle of nowhere and see how long you can run A/C, you'll be running the gas Gen to not only run the A/C but charge the solar gen. LOL
Obviously it needs solar panels to go with it. Take a gas generator and no gas and see how long your a/c works..
That’s unreal that it can run the a/c. Pretty incredible. I’ll stick with my Honda for now but that is very impressive.
Honda EU2200i MSRP $1199. Cheapest EcoFlow $1699. $500 buys a lot of gas...Big battery pack is handy and quiet but it really comes down to your use scenario. If I'm using the power pack all the time (camping/van life) then yeah the noise becomes an issue with the Honda. For emergencies the Honda wins handily because its always good to go. Also I'd like to see a real world test with solar charging because charging this with a solar panel would likely take days.
This is a nice idea, but the question is how much the unit costs and how much one pays for enough solar panels to charge it within a day of sunshine.

I’d like to see all this coming out but with power going in from like a generator or wall plug at the same time. You touched on it after everything but the camper was unplugged. I’d like to know if I buy this can it run 2 freezers 1 fridge tv internet and a light during the night then start a small generator like the 2000 watt Honda during the day and will it hold all that over night. I saw it say it would run all that for 1 hour on the screen. Let’s say the power is out for 3 - 4 days. I know you discussed it but I’d like to see how much is coming in from the charger from a generator and the actual run time for the main items like listed. Thanks for this
Totally agree with others - it's clearly a sponsored review and the failure to mention the longevity is a major question mark to me. At load, you can see on the video that he only had 1-2 hours of run time but he never mentioned this drawback. There's no doubt it's an impressive product under certain conditions and will only get better as battery technology improves. I believe the retail cost of this unit is about $3,500 or more after crowd funding is done but that's a lot of money to spend if you only get 5-7 hours of run time for the average house. Yes, you can chain several of these things together - but it would cost $10k or more retail to do buy three of these. Don't get me wrong, I think eventually I'd go battery generator but for now I'll wait for the battery technology to handle more - before investing this kind of money over my gas generator. This is probably good for a very short outage, basic camping, or maybe tailgating. I know my 6500 Honda generator will give me plenty of clean electricity for days - as long as I have enough gas. As a side note, I prefer Project Farm too. Sponsored reviews are suspect anyway and this omission on longevity is a major red flag.
I like the battery option with solar charging. The ease of use is great. I have the smallest Jackery with a small solar array and it worked great. But the power and pollution to get all the rare metals out of the ground to build the batteries is enormous. I’m all for the new technology. Maybe Elon will be able to get all the materials needed from the moon or Mars.

Like it BUT not there yet. We were out west & had to use the Generator for the camper for the AC overnight. My propane generator will run 15 hours on a 20-pound tank. Easy to switch out tanks vs waiting for hours for a recharge.

Batteries really do not have longevity. I really like the idea of batteries but from my experience I just don't last long enough for the price that you have to pay for them.
The battery tech is available, but it's Lifep04. This is standard lithium, which means after 800-cycles, the capacity is reduced to 80% (similar to a Jackery). Lifep04 in comparison, would be around 5,000-cycles before the capacity is reduced to 80%. The batteries also last well over 7-10 years.
I’d still keep the Honda to charge the batteries fast
