Appreciate everyone supporting this (painful) journey! You've all offered a ton of useful suggestions, new mods to use and what not. I've tweaked a few things for today's stream on Twitch to make this a more enjoyable experience for me given all the suggestions people have had. Guess I really needed to "let go" ;) - I'll have that VOD posted here of course in the coming days
Man, I felt your pain throughout. I hope you manage to either finish or cancel this project in a way you enjoy. It's rough watching you clearly hating what you're doing.
Joov missing the Bobby Pin on the Federation bodies is driving me nuts but I’m glad to see at the 3 hour mark he got the one. I understand the frustration.
Dear Joov, (TLDR at bottom) I really enjoyed this series of VODs and was disheartened to see your frustration grow in this latest installment, especially because I was in the process of installing FROST myself as I watched. However I have good news for you that might give your perspective of FROST a proper 180. First and foremost you NEED to use the Wabbajack install. Thats what I did and there are some noteworthy changes between what I've seen in your VODs and what I've experienced playing it. They are as follows: 1. You can use quicksaves and normal saves even with Survival mode enabled by default. No more bed only saves and the health issues associated with them. 2. Pip-Boy Light still works. 3. The game is a bit darker so you may want to tweak that in the ENB for the sake of your audience even though I found it atmospheric. 4. While your install did get the perk changes correct it also failed to enable the new perk menu which looks like a Pip-Boy screen and adds some non-stat based perks you didnt have access to. Secondly, you may have missed out on the option to play as a Ghoul and I highly recommend giving it a try. You enable ghoul mode in the character creation room. After you finish customizing the look of your Nate or Nora and exit the menu, instead of immediately opening the door to get bonk'd by weirdos, turn around and activate the mirror. This presents you with the choice of being a Ghoul or staying Human. Upside of being a Ghoul is you're immune to radiation. This massive buff comes with 2 relatively minor debuffs. Chems last 1/3rd as long and you take a major hit to your charisma and sanity stats if you do not have all your head/face slots filled. Since you tend to run around with a gasmask and helmet anyway that latter is no big deal and given you now have the option to quicksave and quickload you wont need to lean on chems as much either. With a wabbajack install and playing as a ghoul I had a lot of fun and I can assure you that FROST is still plenty hard even with no radiation and save scumming allowed. Personally I went with an insanity build. The biggest downside of insanity is the effect on gun accuracy, however it does not effect flamethrower weapons or throwable explosives so I spec'd into a melee character and tote'd a flamer and some grenades/mines for problem solving. Throw on cannibalism and food becomes a non-issue leaving water to be the only real problem you need to solve. Thank's for the entertainment, ~Humphrey TLDR: If you want to have a better time with FROST use the wabbajack install because your install broke some features and then play as a Ghoul to be immune to radiation.
I chatted with a few people on our discord server and added some QOL changes. I'm TOTALLY going to save without the debuff application, save after crafting and what not. I'm really excited to give it another go in like....20 minutes!
Regarding the "fleshy" Nick Valentine. Remember that our Nick is a synth that was given a real-life person's memories. It seems the creator of Frost brought the real Nick to life in this timeline.
If I remember it right, the "real" Nick was in for that memory scan rather close to the war. And since Frost is supposed to be 5 years after the bombs, flesh Nick might simply be still alive. So not only is it fun, it's also lore friendly.
I just binge watched all the VODs instead of catching up with schoolwork and I must say I felt your frustration vicariously through the screen of my laptop and felt terrible at the end of this one for all the misery this brutal mod caused. Glad to see you found some ways to tweak it to make it a bit more enjoyable and I can't wait for the new VOD (also so I can skip studying again ;)). You're literally the only gaming streamer I watch and I'll never stop supporting you. Love from the Netherlands
Yeah he didn’t have LevelUpMenuEx that makes the perk screen look more like it does in New Vegas. Also I won’t play survival without Survival Unlimited for normal saving.
Well, this series got me to finally try Frost (using the Wabbajack's Get FROSTy modpack) and holy crap, am i having fun... you need to do one stream where you just make a bunch of new characters and play out the different "pre-set" starting scenarios, spawning in a trailer with some nice starter gear only to exit it and see a Deathclaw staring at me from 5m away was a neat turn of events :D
@@DietJoov it goes really well so far thanks to watching through your suffering first, i kinda knew what to do, and I also love really challenging gameplay. On the other hand it seems really buggy and two of the keys you found were not there for me, i had to restart the game and reload, only then they appeared, i would have completely and probably forever missed them otherwise....
Considering the talk about Fallout Shelter in the beginning and someone mentions it being full of microtransactions: The savegames are transferrable between the mobile and PC release. And on PC you can just give you more boxes with cheatengine. And I'm talking about Fallout Shelter, not Fallout Shelter Online.
OK, consider that DT Boston is the most difficult part of any survival playthrough in Fallout 4. I remember Manyatruenerd got stuck in there for ages without finding a bed. And Frost makes it five times worse. There are few beds and threats around every corner. There's no visibility to see incoming attacks and you can't work from safe zone to safe zone. Even using the water to hide in doesn't work once you get away from the Charles. Still, I think Frost is always going to be a remarkably unfair mod. Don't throw it out, though. It's a lot of fun watching you dig in and keep trying.
Rewatching the series for shits and I forgot watching him miss like 900 bobby pins a video and a bunch of food but manages to notice every single vault tech lunch box frustrates the soul of the viewer 😂 I also just watched him count the same four enemies in vats as like six-eight enemies 😂
I can't wait to watch the summary series on Joov. I loved watching your full playthrough on this channel, but your fallout episodes on Joov I watch so often it's like an extended part of my iPod playlist. Keep up the great work!
It seems like the thing that you find most frustrating about this mod is the limited save system, which is just Fallout 4 Survival mode. I think what would make this more enjoyable would be to use a mod that automatically saves your game every so often (with a safety check to not save in combat) so that you don't lose progress on the tedium but you are locked into your choices.
It's driving me insane that you haven't entertained the note you found about the bunker safe house 🤣 it's also driving me insane that you haven't taken a little break when you get super mad! Look after yourself Joob!
God I really wonder what happened in places like Fairline Hill Estates, West Everett Estates(related to a story about the Mass Bay Medical Center), and the Vault-Tec Regional HQ(maybe you can strangle Frank Davidson there, he knew about all the vault experiments and was a violent man.). And whether you could set up base at bunker hill. Although it is probably crawling with Federation Officers or the Allegiance Rebels(?) (If I had to guess). I almost wanna play it but it looks so hard. ;_; I don't think I could play it. I just saw you uploaded a new video so I'm hoping it went over better for you. The summer shorts look inspiring lol

Hey Joov, can you show your stats (how many people you’ve killed, drugs taken, etc) at the end of you videos? Just an idea. Also love the videos and VODs
Idk if you're still recording with the mod but I have a suggestion since I've never seen it done on youtube. After your initial playthrough with it, would you be willing to go into like god mode and explore the story in the mod? Because it's such a ridiculous hard mod I've never seen anyone get to actually explore a lot of the story or even the environment all around the game map without quitting from how hard and dumb the mod can be at times
After this stream, I lowered the difficulty quite a lot by allowing saves, linked workbenches in downtown, no aim debuffs, easier sanity rules etc. My main goal is to keep exploring the main quests as best as I can for some sort of "Redemption Arc" so I can show people the both the frustratingly brutal side of this mod, and the aspects of it I love!
@@DietJoov YES I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE VIDEO NOW!! I have been looking for videos on this mod for so friken long about the main mod quest and nothing pops up no matter where you look. I wanna see how the story of the mod plays out with jeff frost 🤣
