For the Christian, Christ is the pure and perfect pleasure in ALL things.

8:35 is very true! 🙏 Heard an interesting anecdote one time of how the devil tempts (in some cases) and wanted to share it.
The devil will hand you a string (small sin) and tell you if you throw it over that tree branch and try to hang yourself from it, you are strong enough to snap that string. And you’ll try, snap it, and be fine (survived temptation). Now that you’ve beaten him once and you are confident that you can do it again, he will return. This time, he comes with five strings. You throw it over the tree, jump down, and snap it again. You’re feeling like you can’t be touched. So he comes back again with 10 or 15 and you break them again. Now you feel invincible, so you don’t try to avoid him anymore because you think you can beat him. So this time he hands you the same thing, just 15 strings, but this time it’s twisted and woven together into a rope. This time, the rope doesn’t snap. And you’ve sinned gravely. Jesus, in His mercy cones, and cuts down the rope but you know that now, you’ll never entertain that first conversation again.

To split yourself fully into two is basically anthropological nestorianism. We can understand that there are things fully good for God and things that are "neutral" and not directly about God, but that doesn't mean that we must remove God sometimes.
A schizophrenic existence will not last and ultimately one will win. Either we abandon God in favor of sin, or we abandon sin in favor of God.
That is not to say that we should give everything and everyone up cold turkey, but that we must be continually conscious of the consequences of what we do so as to not let corruption slip in and as Christians move closer and closer to God and "hate the world".
Satan will use every means to make sin enticing and we must be vigilant

Fathers. Thank you so much for your answers. I wish you could have expanded more on this. This is an area I have struggled for years, ignoring the voice of the Holy Spirit even of my wife. No in the area of Music because I don't listen non Christian music, but! TV shows and movies, I do.
I prayed the other day to the Lord that I want to prepare myself to the World to come... and if this mean to leave these shows with so much violence and often some sort of nudity, so help me God to leave it behind me.
Please do a more indepth video. in this area of purity and holiness regarding entertainment.
May His Holy Spirit lead you both.
    Shalom from Israel

Thanks, this answers a question I was considering regarding occupational requirements. Some professions require action contrary to belief yet I hear the statement " I wear two hats". I had formed the opinion that some persons could possibly separate beliefs and actions but it concerned me personally. I can now see that it is an incorrect idea for me. Beliefs override employment requirements.

Thank you I needed to hear this.
"...a still small voice... What doest thou here ?", 1 Kings 19:11-13. As we draw nearer to God I believe that He will steer us away from those things which are not Holy and Pure (Psalm 3:5-6).

Thank you Abouna. I think it’s in the way we view the soul. If we take the soul as our personality and the metaphysical, then we are taking it as earthly and heavenly. The health of our personality with the goal of virtues and the goal of wisdom where we find principles, then put them with the teachings of the church.
The world is becoming more selfish and we must put forward a different way.
Good and bad or wrong and right is black and white, and that is yes and no. Another way would be what is wrong can be made correct and therefore need correction. If it is about correction, then it’s about teacher and student. If it is about teacher and student, then it’s about roles, which means function. Roles give us identity and we function accordingly to that identity.

Question: when it comes to secular music, even if the lyrics is not sinful, I always thought we should not listen to it as 9/10 times its focussed more on the beat which stimulates fleshly desires? But if i understand you father its not that black and white and we should discern for ourselves how strict we should be as long as its not sinful right?

Am I getting more sensitive or are things getting more violent, graphic, and disgusting? (Probably both.) If I watch anything, it's usually a cooking/baking show. I haven't cared about movies in years, and it feels freeing.

Jesus was exposed to those things but didn’t sin, to teach us to choose. You can’t separate the spirit from the body which is true , but also you can’t separate the body from the spirit . I mean be simple and always talk to Jesus and he will clean you regularly and make your taste selective

So I'm an anthropologist and a Jazz musician. (did my undergrad in Jazz Studies) I am a human being tho. I'm made of atoms that in turn make cells which make organs and so on. I'm not a god or a spirit or a ghost. I understand what the priest was saying when they said we're all spiritual beings and I'm not negating that but I'm still a human. In my mind, God made us and we make art, and sport and everything else so why shouldn't we engage in it? (within reason lmao. I would say that pornography and excessive (difficult to define) violence is bad) I dont see why we have to reject futebol, music, movies ect because its not explicit sacred. I think the logical conclusion is that I idk quit my job and go live in the forest or something. My job when I worked in infosec is WAY more spiritually damaging than Giant Steps (a Jazz album) but I dont think most Christians (no matter their school) would say dont work. Conservatism and capitalist political orientations are materially vicious and imho are the opposite of the teachings of Christ but I've never heard much about this.
Not to sound like an anthropologist but what is inappropriate varies wildly depending on culture. Nudity is very normal in many cultures b/c sex and nudity are separate but in the West nudity is practically pornography or even which words are profane vary depending on the country. Like "ass" is profane in the US but normal speech in Australia (which I was surprised to find out) Or when I speak Spanish I have to be careful which word I use for a drinking straw b/c in some places the mexican word for it refers to a sex act and the Salvi word for it the same act for Mexican speakers. How do we navigate what's appropriate?
My point is "where does it stop?"
I should probably add that I dont own a TV lol I only watch soccer and usually on my laptop. I actually think that most TV shows ate bad quality and bad for u -- but that's the anthropologist in me, not the Christian talking in that case
