For those who don't know, the reason the songlist is so large and epic is because Konami made this as a farewell release to DDR. Extreme was the last arcade release for years and had the game not blown up in popularity in the US, may have been the last arcade release ever. And honestly, the game has not been the same since. Look up the special video that plays when you fully unlock the game. It's an ode to the game's history and a farewell. I always found it sad because it was clear the original DDR team was saying goodbye for good. Edit: Here's the video - ua-cam.com/video/KoFIZASc8XY/v-deo.html
thank you for this i have been looking for one of these songs thats been stuck in my head since 2007 and i finally found it while working at my office job
Regardless of how lackluster the song list for the NA versions are after MAX2, Extreme 1 AND Extreme 2 were still a huge part of my childhood, and I love those games dearly. ^^

Took me a while but finally bought the whole Japanese version of every ddr . This one and party collection is dope. However my favorite song exists only on ddr 5th mix
This kinda makes me ashamed to have the US version in my possession for all these years, but it's pretty much impossible for me to get this version now. Prices are ridiculous, and I can see why. What a freaking song list. :'(

@Zlandael the US version doesn't have as much as this version, it has way less. Sadly, there's no Afronova ): & the only red songs are The Legend Of MAX, Trip Machine Survivor, & Maximizer.
I used to play Dance Dance Revolution as a kid and Extreme was always my favorite. It just had a larger variety of songs than the other ones did. 4th Mix, DDRMAX, SuperNOVA, hell, even the console ports.
Well this is disappointing. The US version had LESS songs I mean come on. Paranoia, Max 300 and Paranoia Survivor (BOTH versions) were my favorites and Sakura was a song that I was anticipating TO try.*sigh* Wish I had the Japan Version...
cyril marasigan DDR EXTREME 2 aimed to pick up where EXTREME left off and added plenty of songs americans previously had no access to, including both PARANOIA Survivor versions, Sakura, some Dancemania classics and more Konami Originals. It also introduced plenty of songs that later appeared in arcade SuperNOVA. Truly one of the better USA releases.
Holy. This has to be the greatest songlist I've ever seen. I remember seeing some of these songs on the US version...but to be on the safe side, does the US version also have the old DDR songs (like Brilliant 2U, Afronova, Maxx 300)? If so, how many? I was never able to finish the game.
@chelchi14 This is the Japanese version. What you have is the US version. Unfortunately the game was heavily altered for it's US release and many songs were cut and replaced. The only way to get this songlist is to import the Japanese PS2 release. And because this release is so good, it's been getting pretty expensive.
Went to the bowling hall the other day and found out they didn't have a Euromix 2, but it was actually upgraded to the JP version of Extreme. I am the happiest person on Earth.
I remember my brother had to crack our PS2 to play this game. He had to rip off the front compartment so he could insert a chip that opens up the disk slot. For some reason that would make the PS2 think the game disk was still in. We'd have a "cracked" game disk that we would start with, then insert that chip, then put the DDR Extreme Japan disk in and we could play this at home. Best time ever
In my case, here in Latin America, the PS1 and PS2 was popular thanks the pirated discs. and sometimes you could played Japan-only games or japanese versions from the same. I consider myself weirdly lucky i grew up wtih DDRMAX2 JP and DDR EXTREME JP, instead the US versions. Same for DDR Disney's RAVE and not the US version is which was released as DDR Disney MIX.
Interesting that in the US a good chunk of this list went to the Xbox Ultramix series, part to our Universe 1 and we got a Universe 2. Heck, Supernova has some of these songs.
As much as I enjoy Extreme US, I’d be lying if I did not say that this is the superior version. No wonder we got Extreme 2, seeing this song list compared to JP Extreme
So there’s a song from this game (but the arcade version) that has a part that goes “OI OI OI OIEEEEAAAAAH”. I thought it was by RevenG but I guess not. It had a very wild Japanese feel to it.
Thank you. That’s really fucking sad it didn’t come back to the newer games. I think Extreme will always be my favorite thanks to the music and not knowing that song is on there kinda reaffirms that lol
A few years ago, I made a dumb comment on this video saying this mix was "vastly overrated". At the time, I was only looking at the brand new songs this game offered (most of them aren't very good in my opinion). Taking a step back and looking at the revivals (and in turn, the original arcade mix which had even more revivals), I can definitely see why people hold this mix in such high regards.
They use to have that at my favorite gamestore which was called gameware. Unfortunately they took this game out which was about a year ago. I still remember being very sad when this wasn't there anymore :(
Press and hold the left and right arrows together simultaneously on the face of the game cabinet. I repeat, on the face of the game cabinet, not the left and right arrows on the game pad.
Does anyone know why the arcade versions don't list all of the songs out like this? A lot of the songs you have to search through the series or alphabet list to find.
Man. The look on my face back then when I bought the US version at Gamestop, thinking it would be this. 😭

It was because of that song I got into DDR!

I still remember being very sad when this wasn't there anymore :(
Anyone know the total songs of this vs. the us version?
This versión Japan : 111 Songs
DDR Extreme U.S.A : 71 Songs.
where did you get this ddr exterme (JP) Ps2 iso :( ? pleaaase this musics are good
Not a bad upgrade by any means, but I still love myself.
On the machine, if you pressed Both Arrows, you could sort them by lettering.
Press and hold the left and right arrows together simultaneously on the face of the game cabinet.
I repeat, on the face of the game cabinet, not the left and right arrows on the game pad.
dude if they remade this version on like XBOX 360; Ps3 or Wii; or all of them; i think some of us will buy it in a heartbeat
Does anyone know why the arcade versions don't list all of the songs out like this?
A lot of the songs you have to search through the series or alphabet list to find.
That would be tedious.
*Arcade flashbacks intensify*
write des-row and you can find it here on youtube
thanks, that helps, it was driving me crazy
most console versions are different from the arcade ones (especially because arcade machines can hold a lot more songs)
