What an absolutely class act. I grew up watching Dick Van Dyke and I've always been thankful for that fact. I think it would be hard to find another actor who is, at the same time an amazing talent, a humble being, and one of the most charming, flat out good souls I can think of. What a gift he has been to all of us.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Phillip Rex Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Kevin, this is the first time I have seen your show. You are the best interviewer I have ever heard! You are organized, knowledgeable, respectful, and prepared. You pursue the topics I want to hear about, you let the person have time to answer. Thanks for doing this great job with my Fav Dick Van Dyke.
This is great. This is my first Kevin Pollack interview, and I'm having the best time watching/listening/googling references during the playback. Too too fun!
Enjoyed this show very much...love Dick Van Dyke. I spent the day watching his interviews, & this is my favorite by far! I had never heard of this show Kevin was an amazing host! I am going to be looking up more episodes here on UA-cam. Great job...loved it!!! ❤️
Dick is like THE entertainment ICON, but such a next-door kind of guy. From local radio, to stage, to morning TV, to movies, to top-rated shows self-titled... he did everything there was to do and even invented more.
I am happy to run into this chat show. I LOVE Dick Van Dyke. Talented, nice guy, funny, entertaining, always great to see his big smile. I have always had a major crush on DVD.
Kevin, I love your interviews. You know how to ask the right questions and are very informed about your guests. I have always been a Dick Van Dyke fan and he was so at ease with your interview. Thank you for this post. ..
LOVE THIS! Great to see you again on a screen, Mr. Pollack! Enjoy your work. You've always made me laugh, and I'm delighted to have stumbled onto your UA-cam channel. Can't wait to watch all these video chats!
Loved this - please have him back! Interesting - he mentioned that Sally Rogers was the first single working female on a sitcom. Then this surely helped inspire MTM to create her show concept.
Great interview, Kevin. DVD is a treasure of immense talent. Kevin, I'm there with you about drinking and being a cheap drunk.. one drink and I'm done.
Thank you so much for this fantastic interview with loveable Dick Van Dyke. What an amazing human being. Such an inspiration to so many of us. Recently I watched Max Rose (I wish I could find out where to purchase a copy). The rental was only for 48 hours, and in that time I managed to watch it 3 times. The scene that Dick alluded to, is my favorite, and I must have watched that part at least 6 times. The whole movie is brilliantly written, and all the parts were played out so believably, it is easy to forget you're watching a movie. I wish it would come out in DVD with lots of commentary and behind the camera scenes. I absolutely adore the movie. I must find a place to purchase a DVD (if any are made). I loved your character's almost whispered response to Max's public outrage over your character's take on DISTRESS compared to Max's. Your quivered response of, "You're scaring me " was so powerful. It was not just the words, but the delicate mixture of layers of emotion that were displayed in your face as you said them: puzzlement over how to manage Max in his new situation, trying to re-establish connection that had broken between your character and Max's, trying to understand Max's needs while balancing that with what your character perceives Max's needs are, plus dealing with the immediate embarrassment of Max making a scene in public. That movie does such an excellent job of helping younger family members to understand that their older relatives are not necessarily being stubborn, they just want as much independence as any adult wants. It is hard to relinquish any, even when the need to do so becomes apparent. It is such a beautiful movie. My favorite scene was the one Dick referred to. I laughed and cried at the same time, and appreciate it on so many levels; how it was written, how it was played, the profound insights it offers to misunderstandings that can take place between two people. That scene is rich! Of course Jerry was spectacular, as you said; it must have been a wonderful experience for you to have a part in a movie with him. There are so many enjoyable scenes throughout the whole movie, I know that I will enjoy watching it many times again yet. As you so accurately stated, the movie is devastatingly moving! It truly is . What a masterpiece! Thanks again for this fantastic interview. I loved your response to Dick starting one of his stories with, "I was at Windsor Palace being presented to the Queen . . . Your response was so quick, so endearing, and gave a generous acknowledgement to the honor Dick had been presented with. I will continue to share this beautiful interview with others. Thanks so much. Near the end you mentioned that Dick also had a camera crew join you guys on this interview because they are planning on doing a documentary on his life. Dick also said that they had already done one on Jerry's life. Do you happen to know where a person can find those documentaries or who produced them?
Holy Cow, you're a freaking AMAZING interviewer! The most knowledgeable, thorough, and funny enough to let your guests relax so much they totally "shine." I'd have loved to have done something this thorough with some heroes of mine. Richard Kiley comes to mind. New Subscriber. Thx!
Thank you so much Kevin Pollak! I love Dick Van Dyke and this was a Fantastic interview!!! You asked such great questions and your impersonations were so funny! Could have listened to you and Dick talk for much longer!
Kevin, GREAT interview. I've worked in the concert and theatre business for most of my life and it occurs to me that you know something even better than I do... which is that actors and theatre folks can be the most insecure people on the planet. What your interview with Mr. Van Dyke drives home is that an artist's greatness can sometimes be measured by their humbleness. Mr. Van Dyke is such a warm and easy and gracious cat, so comfortable in his own skin... you can't help but love the guy. I had the opportunity to work on a show in Florida with Barbara Eden about eight years ago, and I was sitting talking with her in a dressing room when it dawned on me that she was a part of my DNA, just as Mr. Van Dyke is clearly in yours and in ours. I had to fight to suppress the inner 12 year old in me that was screaming OH MY GOD I'M TALKING TO JEANNIE!" and I could see moments where this kind of youthful awe was hitting you as well. Interviewing someone who means that much to you, that you grew up with, isn't an easy thing and you handled it very nicely. Great show. BRAVO.
Love D. V. D. ❤️ and his 60s sitcom was very endearing, oh so many years ago. Love the stories and how Kev stopped DVD when he intro 'd the one about meeting the Queen! Right on Kev! haha. Really enjoyed the big breaks and how the good guy(s) win, at least in that period/genre. DVD was/IS a good guy and so multi talented. Loved "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" w a young a Kurt Russell too! Thx. 🌷
I love Dick VanDyke. I hade an Amiga Video Toaster, too! Awesome equipment. Babylon 5 used them extensively, too, and the effects were amazing. Now I have to rewatch that motorcycle episode if Diagnosis Murder. Great interview!
This is amazing, I used an Amiga 2000 Video Toaster growing up and learned basic lightwave 3d modeling and video effects. had no idea Dick Van Dyke was into such but he's obviously an industrious type in front and behind the camera like Chaplin and Jerry Lewis. also he has the softest looking shirt of all time
I had a couple early teachers and one college professor who had this kind of energy. They are definitely rare. Absolutey radiant, rock solid, positivity, can do, go get em, attitude! My primary professor had to give me a shape up or ship out speech once. The speech was about ten seconds long, if that. Onwards and upwards, lets go! What a gift to those fortunate to be in their influence!
Watching this again after several years and still hope Kevin decides to bring back the video chat show again after his current ventures. Still an amazing, amazing interview. But on the re-watch I notice some things that slipped by. The open question thrown out about the actor who won Emmy's 3 times in a row when Dick Van Dyke is sitting right there and he won FOUR Emmy's in a row was kinda disturbing. I hope the research staff had some splaining to do.
Totally stumbled across this channel and these AMAZZZZING interviews!!! This is a real hidden gem here... I can't wait to watch the other chats :) :) :) PS~ totally in love with Kevin Pollack~ he's cute as a button, I think I could talk to him for hours ::swoon::
I could've easily have watched this for twice as long, if not longer. I just wish there had been more Dick Van Dyke Show stories. Edit: It's a shame he never had DVD back on.
+kwacker45 as is Kevin always...When I am not working I like to start my day with him. Kevin and his guests are always entertaining. I only wish I could buy his coffee cup!
Here on youtube you can see the wedding party of Dick 2012 and its magnificent. Find it! its adorable. I like how Kevin's research creates questions/topics that allow an actor to reveal interesting things about him/herself...that's why its so entertaining + Kevin's impersonations.......brilliant and cute guy
I really enjoyed the Dick Van Dyke episode. He is a great and wonderful man! I think it is interesting that he was a fan of the early Newtek Video Toaster and uses LightWave 3D and that your show is powered by the Newtek Tricaster. I wonder if Dick is aware of the coincidence. I get the feeling he would be very interested. Great job! Keep it up. Harry
I love Dick Van Dyke sooo much, but had to quit watching due to the interviewer who spent too much time talking about himself with over-bearing me-centric jargon. May Dick live another 100 years. He’s one of a kind; humble, sincere, and filled with gratitude.❤️
@6:11 "The guy who died in an accident in Africa" was probably Larry Blyden who was killed in Morocco under mysterious circumstances. And I'm pretty sure Peter Falk lost his eye to cancer as a child, not in an accident.
Yep! That's one time that tears came to my eyes. When I came out after than earthquake and it was pitch black everywhere. I looked up, and it was like a movie set. The milky way was this white thing with detail all across the sky, you couldn't even make out the constellations, millions of colorful bight stars everywhere... and it was so shocking to me that it brought tears to my eyes. It's funny to hear someone else talk about that. Normally you look up and you can see one or two.
What an absolutely class act. I grew up watching Dick Van Dyke and I've always been thankful for that fact. I think it would be hard to find another actor who is, at the same time an amazing talent, a humble being, and one of the most charming, flat out good souls I can think of. What a gift he has been to all of us.
I think he looks more like his brother now.
But Hey!
Dick has such an enthusiastic attitude towards life in general: love his personality!
Sharp as a tack! Just a wonderful interview. Hope he is still doing well.
DVD is a class act, and he looks great and is so sharp--not a single senior moment!
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account..?
I somehow lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Daniel Guillermo instablaster =)
@Phillip Rex Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now.

@Phillip Rex it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my ass :D
@Daniel Guillermo No problem =)

Mr. Van Dyke is so on it, and he looks great. He has no sign of being less than lucid.
Bravo, sir.
2022,.......Wonderful interview one of my favorite actors! Thank you Dick Van Dyke, for all the years you entertained me. You are a national treasure!
This is great. This is my first Kevin Pollack interview, and I'm having the best time watching/listening/googling references during the playback. Too too fun!

What a charming, gracious, self-effacing man. Great interview.

Undoubtedly the most unique interview guest I've ever see or heard so glad I found it.
Heck-one of the best interviews I have ever seen.
This was an incredibly great interview. I love Dick Van Dyke. Kevin Pollack is a fantastic host and interviewer.
Very spry...still charming. Great sense of humor.

+Jon Blondell Me also. Found by accident. I have subscribed. PS best wishes from England :)
+Jon Blondell His Peter Falk is better than Peter Falk, lol.

Dick VanDyke - a real class act!!!
+UsfanlovesMinho Without a doubt.
It comes across in each episode…a genuine enjoyment for your craft.

Thank you so much Kevin Pollak! I love Dick Van Dyke and this was a Fantastic interview!!! You asked such great questions and your impersonations were so funny! Could have listened to you and Dick talk for much longer!
Love Dick Van Dyke.
What an amazing interview.
17:00 He talks about The Video Toaster... which was invented by Dana Carvey's brother, who he based Garth on.
The part about him being the neighbor of Charles Bronson, so funny.
Kevin, GREAT interview.

DVD is still amazingly handsome. Wow.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I love one on one interviews of famous people with depth. 10 min late night cameos are boring.

Kevin does a Terrific Peter Falk.
The Peter Falk at the start was awesomeness.

Dec 13 2016, he will be 91..Bless his soul...........I'm happy he's married and enjoying his life.
you don't need drugs or alcohol to enjoy Marry Poppins
That's why I hate it
Wow he looks great for his age or any age really.
The magic of Mary Poppins was the combination of the talents of Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke combined with the great songs.
Love love LOVE Dick Van Dyke! He is PURE. CLASS. they just do not make 'em like him anymore.
He is so handsome. Please let him live forever!
He looks marvelous.

I really enjoyed the Dick Van Dyke episode. He is a great and wonderful man!

I just thought, in 35 years, will I look so good?
Nice natural interview
Awesume 2 hours!
I love Dick Van Dyke sooo much, but had to quit watching due to the interviewer who spent too much time talking about himself with over-bearing me-centric jargon. May Dick live another 100 years. He’s one of a kind; humble, sincere, and filled with gratitude.❤️
DVD is so sharp, witty, funny and interesting. And he does 3D animation lol!?
wonderful...
@6:11 "The guy who died in an accident in Africa" was probably Larry Blyden who was killed in Morocco under mysterious circumstances. And I'm pretty sure Peter Falk lost his eye to cancer as a child, not in an accident.
Hop he goes past 100.
Love love love this.
Dick Van Dyke loved this.
Pure Genius
time to go and watch that Columbo episode again...
He is still so good looking, even as an older man.
I'm sure his wife said the same thing. She is like 40 yrs younger than him.
@@vanmoody 46 years younger
I know this is years old, and years older.. but i watched it first time tonight and said "Schenechtede" seconds before Kevin... :D
Also I've never lived anywhere near there.. Prob'ly Kevin used that reference in another act and it stuck in my mind... but it was still amazing :)
Wonderful.
I'm a little late, but will watch when DVD on?
So Cool...Please get him back while still lucid, though of course "Reports of his demise..." Thank you again, Sir.
Truly remarkable.
can you believe this guy is nearly 90?
Well done Kevin.

He won't be 96 until the end of the year.
Love this show. I watch on UA-cam.
Ya don't say?
Today I Learned Dick van Dyke was a CGI/VFX hobbyist
