The core game takes a good 20 hours to get through, and then there’s the bonus content that adds a couple of hours here and there. I think the price is perfectly reasonable given that. If you’re a fan of Ridley Scott’s original film, then this is just heaven from start to finish... even during the bits reviewers claimed were slow-paced, there are still plenty of Easter Eggs for film fans to discover. Above all, this is a game that rewards patient and careful play.
I'm not very good with 1st person aiming on Switch because I play only handheld with joycons. So glad to hear it has motion controls!

I’m definitely getting this game! Hopefully over time they’ll eventually do a physical copy too. So worth it for a game like this!

It would have to sell phenomenally well to get a physical release. Bizarrely, even though this game reviewed pretty well when originally released, it sold poorly... which is probably why this release is digital only. Also.. fun fact: very few people played the game beyond the first proper encounter with the Alien. All the subsequent trophies you get in the console versions for completing levels beyond that are (still) graded “very rare”.
The spaceship is great, but the human characters act and move really stiff, they look lifeless. It really pulls me out of the game….

GRID was a last-gen game though, this is a cross-gen title. Definitely more impressive this time around, particularly as it has better AA than the "bigger" versions.
Game is just a basic survival horror. These type of games are nothing more than a tacky method of releasing their tech demo out in the market.
I never pre-purchased a game before, that ends tonight...

I have only ever pre-purchased one game ... it was Alien Isolation.
It worked "out of the box" - a superb game.
[and I did that knowing that my graphics card wasn't good enough to play the game .... erm ... it was! ... their "recommended specs" turned out to be a nice pack of lies!]

Feral seems to work very well with this ports, they already handled very good Linux ports for many big games, no surprise they are doing a fine job with the Switch.

For real though - Alien Isolation is probably the game I've been most hyped about this whole year. I enjoy handheld gaming so much more than gaming on the TV, I rather pay for the switch version than play it "for free" with my Xbox Game Pass (from which I at least know how much I enjoy this game)! 😄
(Same for Doom and Wolfenstein 2, by the way. And as already mentioned - I would do quite some things to play RE 7 and RE2-Remake on the switch!)
Played this on PS4 at EGX a few years back and even stood in the auditorium, with headphones on, I was petrified. Never played it since, but now it's come to Switch I might brave it :)

This was hands down one of my favorite horror games I enjoyed playing on PS4. Traded my copy after beating it once but will gladly buy it again on Switch even if it's digital, although I would have preferred a physical release too.

The first time I completed this, it was on Hard, and I deliberately never used the map - so I could feel lost and alone and terrified. (I was)
I beat the game after 25 hours and got the Steam unachievement for dieing 100 times!
But when I won ... oh my god ... YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
You're in for a treat - but it's going to be hard.
Don't ever let anyone tell you that video games are "just entertainment".
A game like this can change you as a person!

I grew up with videogames my whole life.... and, yes, there are games that do certain things better than this one.
But for a complete experience - this is the best you can get!
Don't make your first experience of this classic be a speed-run on "Easy" difficulty.
It MUST be "Hard" mode ... and it's fair too ... the Alien will respect you, as long as you respect it back. But it still hates you, and will kill you in an instant the moment it sees you!

Well. Thanks for the good news. I was hoping it'd work well for the switch. So because of good reviews I'm gonna buy it. And about motion control. I only use it on BOTW cause it helps out a whole lot when aiming.

I love motion controls and gyro controls especially when it comes to aiming, That's what players won every available possible option to play the game and then we are all happy and we can freely change our mind how we want to play it and I am very glad this game has gyro controls so I am definitely buying it When they make a physical version

Regarding the cut scenes, they are “just videos” in *all* versions of Alien Isolation.

I can’t thank you enough for this video. Performance was the one thing that could have killed this game, and the very late announcement of the release date worried me that they’d run into problems, and were sneaking this out before anyone got a chance to review it. It’s a massive relief to find out that isn’t the case. And visually, this looks well ahead of the PS3/Xbox versions, and not too far behind the PS4/XboxOne versions.
So this is the guys that did the Grid switch conversion..not surprised by the good result.

I like scary games. But they are often to scary for me to finish but with this I was so immersed I actually felt like I thought they would feel in the films terrified but the need to fight with what I have got this game is amazing but I think I will just go back to catching my cute little monsters and battle others thanks

As an alien mega fan I waited too long I'm in love already just the atmosphere and environment I'm stopping and staring at everything lol
In sleep mode what will happen does the game continue to run and when you turn it on the beast just have found and kill you or will remain suspended? Because of the switch' nature i think is something good to know, it help me a lot during my dark soul walk through because sometimes i could not reach the next 🔥 before i had to turn off the console
It just resumes exactly where you were - everything is on hold until you switch on your Switch again. Mark

I finished this game with my nephew, just before I picked up my switch. It would be pretty cool to have this game on the switch, but I don't see myself playing through it again. Great game, would recommend to anyone.

I got it on pc. In terms of recreating the look and feel of a film it's probably the best game I've ever played. Unfortunately it recreated that atmosphere so well I was too bloody scared to finish it, lol.

Once you play an FPS with motion controls and actually give it a real go, it's a game changer. Basically can do 3 things at once with two hands. Splatoon is a great example of this. Different, but once you get use to use to it, hard to live without!

if there is a physical version, i'll be buying this game for the 4th time (steam, ps3, ps4). as a massive fan of the og movies and someone who enjoys collecting physical switch games, it would be hard to pass on this.

i think the file size for alien isolation is around 17gb; that's just too big for a digital download.
i mean, i guess i'm going to have to buy a 1tb sd card...definitely will have to for the next gen switch/console.

This is one of my favourite PS4 games and thrilled it’s on the switch and that it’s a good port, deep down I was hoping it would be a bit crap so I wouldn’t have to buy it, I’ve got loads of games already and Nintendo are killing my bank balance!!! 😂

Your character never cast a shadow in any of the other version either. I'm impressed with this version, really nice to see this game making more money as I hope one day a sequel will be possible.
I wish they'd update the console versions for next generation.

Fun little trivia: your character doesn't cast a shadow on all versions of the game (to my knowledge) - not on PC, nor on any console as far as I know. That just wasn't implemented (a huge shame and irritation to me). So it isn't a fault nor a technicalt restriction of the Switch.

Looks a step up on the previous gen PS3/x360 versions of the game... Will be tempted when it's on sale. I generally prefer previous generation titles that hold their resolution over current low res ports. I think Skyrim looks better than Witcher 3 on Switch (especially handheld) for example
Yeah you're right about Skyrim the problem with the Witcher is just how demanding an engine that is compared to this and Skyrim. Sacrificing clarity was the only real option or turning off antialiasing which I would have liked to be honest. Mark

Amazing how these ports are on Switch. Kudos to the developers that tweak until the console screams in submission. The ONLY downside is that even with "Definitive Editions"; there is NO REASON for those that already own (and played) these games to purchase again. Great for those who have not, though. 👍

@@stevenramirez4133 Well.... it is $35 to be released 12/5. Not the $60 for a NEW game, but average for a port of it's type. Still, $35 is a chunk of change to rebuy a game you may already own on XB1, PS4, or even PC... even with portability. I, myself, either had to really love a game to shell out again (like Skyrim) or have never played it before (like Wolfenstein II).
