Ehhh it is but still isn't in many aspects. I mean I remember the first Skillet album I heard was their Collide album, and it'll probably never return to that but this song is still it's more rock than pop. More than what can be said about other groups.
Considering the old days were 1996 where they were basically a grunge band I'd say this is not in any way poppy :-) They have been through A LOT of transformations over the almost 25 years since their debut ;-)

John represents being blind to everything around you and how you are not able to see anything
Korey represents suffocating in a blanket of your own nightmares that won't end
Jen represents drowning in a pool of human horror such as abuse, anxiety depression, etc
And seth (poor guy) represents falling inside your own hell that no one else can see

Skillet introduced me to the very concept of Christian Rock. I didn't think such a thing was possible with the very traditional home I grew up in but when my mom and dad saw them at winter jam, oh man. They fell in love just as I did.

When we were blessed to see Skillet up close..so inspired..motivating the tried and true Skillet Heads..God used their gifts to open the eyes of skeptical mom's and dad's..in the audience..to inspire and bless them. Indeed, been playing their songs when I workout and lift
I so admire this band’s way of storytelling. So many of their videos are a grapple between light and dark, and this one seemed like a call out by each of them from their own personal darkness so to speak. I’ll admit the latex over John’s eyes was a little creepy 😂 but I’ve appreciated this song since it came out for the fact that it doesn’t just end happy. It remains in the personal struggle waiting for help and I can appreciate that, because we often struggle for a long time before even coming close to finding our answers. I should expect nothing less from the video for a song that so intensely grapples with reality and pain. And I have to say, that purple water design for Jen? Heck. Yes. Thanks for giving me a reason to rock this morning, Skillet!

THIS!!!!!!! Holy crap, but THIS!! This speaks to my soul! The symbolism, the lyrics!! I frequently speak of last year as a dark year for me, where I felt like I was trapped, and drowning in a dark place. Everything people said to me, or even sometimes the way they looked at me, I would percieve it as though it were in a negative way. I felt like nothing I did was good enough. I as a person, was not good enough. Then while listening to a worship song, my eyes were opened and I realized I had been blind (John's being blinded stood out so much to that!) I had a veil over me, twisting everything I saw, and everything I heard. There is NOTHING that can take my value, for it is in Christ and no one else that my value belongs! I see now and will remember this fact! Thank you, Skillet so much, for showing me this message again! I am saved! He saved me! God bless you beautiful wonderful and precious tools of God!

It, my Christians parents, and the ministry of Ray Comfort were the vessels God sent to deliver the truth to me at the right time and rescue my soul from bondage in Jesus's name! I was 15 when it all finally came together. God is amazing!

I'm here twenty hours before the start of the video because, OHMYGOD, i didn't see that coming! This is the greatest surprise ever! A music video for one of the best songs of the entire album I LITERALLY CAN'T WAIT! My heart is beating faster, my hands are shaking and my breath is sooo heavy.
