This has to be the horticultural equivalent of looking through Elizabeth Taylor's jewelry box! John and Fred have really created something spectacular. Thank you for letting us take a peek inside.
I could listen to John speak forever. A very charismatic and vibrant man and a lovely beautiful couple ! They compliment each other so well. Loved this
What a delightful raconteur!!! He is one of those people you want to meet and talk to for hours. What he and his sweet husband have done in recreating this Victorian conservatory is unbelievable. I hope he puts in place a way for future generations to enjoy it. It is Indeed a legacy of love. Well done sir💚 and I wish I could visit.
This is so lovely feeling my own dream became just true. After Corona when I loosed my job I started 8 month ago a training to become a gardener for ornamental plants in the age of 44.
I love that he spoke of how back when these were so hard to get that they were of course much more treasured. It’s sad that because of our ability to so readily get them today society just buys them up without any regard to actually trying to appreciate them and hold sacred keeping them alive. In fact we can buy our top wishlist plant and rather then bask in having that for a period of time and truly treasure it, we are on to buying the next and allowing it to die because we are more focused on accumulation of what others have or even what very few have. I would love to see a shift to valuing each plant you have acquired. I hope that at some point the hobby slides into really treasuring the ones we have, nurturing them individually to our best capability, and seeing the value in each and accepting if we are not capable of caring for the individual not just allowing it to die but passing it along to someone who can insure it’s survival.
Wonderful, a great representation of the Victorian era, with 2 delightful caretakers! Please...someone do a complete video of all the plants they have, there were glimpses of things I would have loved to see better and hear about. And oh my, that gorgeous Minton jardinaire.....smaller plant ASAP needed! Thank you to you all, this was great! 🤗🌿🌱🌵💕
John Whiteknight…what an amazing person. He was my art teacher during my high school years. Love to see his artistic touch in every aspect of his life.
Absolutely mesmerizing; unequivocally elegant, not only the gorgeous display of plant life but the people discussing this beautiful conservatory. Thank you for your classy channel.
This was truly one of the most delightful things I’ve ever seen! Seeing those plants and hearing the stories behind them had me literally squealing! What a treat. I know I will watch this multiple times. They are just the loveliest couple with the most beautiful conservatory!
Such an amazing conservatory! I love the unique and wonderful plants that John and Fred have accumulated. The history of some of those plants is fascinating!! Thank you for this wonderful tour. It’s not feeling like spring quite yet in Michigan, and it was so good seeing such a lush green place right now!
This took me back to my childhood! In the early 70’s we had an old conservatory in my backyard that daddy rebuilt from an torn down one. It had so many beautiful plants just like John and Fred’s. I remember as a kid admiring all the Home & Garden magazines daddy had and day dreaming about having a house one day like them! lol We even had a room in the house with a big bay window that daddy had filled with all sorts of plants! Sadly daddy’s no longer with us but this was such a joy seeing! Thank you!
I REALLY appreciate how U share others' stories. Their collection achieved the goal of living in a understory jungle.... also I notice when U " light up" when they share their passion
Much respect to them, for going through all that work, to keep the details of a historic era. That Philodendron Splendid and aquarium were my favorite sights.
I am so jealous! It’s been my dream to have a Victorian conservatory. So amazing to see those lush aroids and other plants thriving very well in the greenhouse like a tropical rainforest! Thanks for sharing, Summer!
I just love the jungle look and feel inside this greenhouse! Wonderful stories and growing/propagating tips. The tree is amazing and bromeliads are some of my favorite plants. With all the focus on everything but the Crotons, I have to say that they gave me lots of pleasure to look at, bright color and a good size. The whole greenhouse inside and out is magnificent! Thanks to John and Fred for letting you in!!
I am absolutely speechless! Really the most amazing tour. I am in love with John and Fred. Thank you so much for this video. I would so love to meet them and just listen John talk all day.
Oh my gosh I absolutely loved this amazing tour. The passion John has for his plants is so inspiring. I so need to sit with John and Fred in the conservatory with a tea and listen to all their stories. The conservatory is stunning. Thank you so much. Love from 🇨🇦💚
You're so lucky visiting all these amazing plant places ! A beautiful Victorian conservatory. And that Croton had beautiful red colours. Greetings from London, UK.
Absolutely stunning and amazing plants and conservatory. John and Fred’s knowledge and passion is incredible. I not only love learning about the plants themselves, but the stories about them really make this a unique tour. Love the tree and the grotto too.
I loved this episode so much! Not only was the conservatory and the plants beautiful but John’s passion, stories and his personality really made this episode spectacular. I could have listened and watched him give a tour all day!
This was lovely. I want to see the rest of their home now to see all of their fabulous finds! You can see how passionate he is about his plants and the historical significance of his heirlooms.
Would probably ask John and Fred to let me live in their amazing Victorian conservatory if I could. Great episode! great botanical collection and really aesthetically pleasing.
best houseplant tour i have ever watched. at one point i wish this never ended. i could listen to john talk about his passion for plants for hours ❤️❤️❤️
It has been just two days I have accidentally found your channel. I worked in Agri Horticultural Society of India at Kolkata for a couple of years. The horticulture society was founded by Sir William Carey in 1820.; during the British era in India. My love for plants became more concreted since then. I got an opportunity to see and look many rare plants. I used to miss that place. Your channel gave me back that excitement which I used to enjoy that time.
This place belongs in a place where it will be conserved for many, many years to plant conisours. What ones dream can create and now a glimpse for all of us viewers to appreciate nature. Thank God for people like this who don't take God's gifts for granted.
This was by far my favorite tour! They were lovely gentlemen, with a real zest for the plants. Very, very informative! Loved every second of the tour. Wish I could go there myself.❤
You keep outdoing yourself with these tours; I am enjoying them so much!! I could listen to him talk about plants for hours.I am so grateful he let us take a peek inside his conservatory. Thank you for sharing these wonderful spaces with us 😃
Wow!!!! The absolutely most interesting and fantastic collection of plants , in the most gorgeous space with such fascinating people !!! What a treasure of plants and stories 💙💙💙💙🌳🪴🌿
Oh my gosh that’s a amazing video.. I would love to hang out with those two guys and just talk plants for hours and history because I’m a huge history buff. Thank you thank you thank you for sharing your story with us
I always felt like in a previous life, I lived in the Victorian era and had a greenhouse conservatory. What a lovely tour - thank you for sharing this with us.
I'm glad he also has aspidistra under his faux tree. Its one of my favorites because it was also very popular in Victorian times due to its hardiness in low light home conditions. It was also somehow able to survive in the gas-lit homes of the era.
I love it, it’s so SEREEN! Love to have one like it (Victorian Conservatory) All the BIG plants are so stunningly beautiful! Enjoyed viewing John and his husband Fred what they both created. Both my hands with thumbs up!
What an incredible place. No need to ever want to leave home ,So stylishly displayed in a beautiful building. Thankyou for letting us experience this with you Summer.
I love how they displayed the orchids and that Minton Ceramic Jardiniere, wow. I could live in that space. The plants a few books and a kettle for tea and I'm good. What a lovely couple and Joh is a masterful story teller.
One if my favorite tours. John is a wealth of knowledge…..Wonder if he has ever considered having a UA-cam channel. I’m sure he would gather a following
When you first enter inside and begin the conversation, right above John’s head there is a zig zaggy looking fern……can you please tell us the name of that plant? Thank you so much!💜
Wooooow, his Plant collection is fabulous, eye dropping, beautiful, just amazing..... He's very dedicated to those plants....May he keep up the great work he gives to the Plants.......
Literally one of the best tours ever ~ loved the vibes, the style, the chill and of course the plant selection! Congratulations for this amazing content that makes our souls happier! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️ 🌱 🪴 🌱
This was one of my favorite garden tours. I loved the stories he told and his absolute passion for his plants. I love his fancy shirt and bold jewelry. And that conservatory!!!Thank you , I feel your show has changed my life. It has really uplifted me and gotten me back into plants and flowers.
ok I loved this! If I may be cheeky and add a little bit of (hopefully constructive!) criticism: definitely be as aware as possible of different people's style of communicating when you do these plant tours! Some people are more conversational, but John definitely strikes me as more of a 'presenter' and I kept noticing how often he was interrupted when he was trying to talk about his house and plants. Overall great tour though, I just couldn't help but wish he would get to talk even more.
What an amazing Victorian conservatory tour. Thank you to John, Fred and of course Summer for sharing this wonderful episode. The plants John and Fred have are fascinating, what an incredible collection.
Thank you! This video is EVERYTHING. Summer Rayne you are a BADASS and I love the range of eclectic styles you have hulled in your houseplant tours. Its refreshing to have after the influx of millenial plant vids of highly curated white backdrops with rose gold.
I am imagining entering their greenhouse and smelling the air that will envelope you. Just a wonderful story of a Victorian times in a greenhouse. His enthusiasm for plants is one of finding a subject that truly is a calling. Like the Sirens, plants are so enticing, who could resist?
We bought an Amdega 17 years ago. It’s 15’ wide and 30’ long. French doors on both sides and windows that open on either side and also the roof. It’s our living room/ conservatory. We love it.
