I never liked bagpipes until I heard them played like Fiona plays them. An amazingly talented artist, such a shame she's leaving Faun. She will be missed.
Faun makes me realize that maybe I can make my dream happen... That I can someday play the kind of music I want to all the time, and that there are people out there that might love it. Thanks Faun, and I hope to see you sometime in the USA (or in Europe -- to visit Europe is another dream of mine lol)
She spings my heart into hyper joy, you have no idea NOOO IDEA. I LOVE THE DETAIL, I LOVE THE HONOR, I HONOR HER FOR HAVING HONOR, AND PRAISE BE TO THE LORD. What fire do i SPEAK OF? The only FIRE YOU SHOULD KNOW OF!
The tune is commonly known as "St. Patrick's An Dro." You can find many versions by other artists. There is a nice one by Carlos Nunez. Faun does great job with it, in their style.
Yep. To test my own Celtic knowledge; it's a folk tune, an An Dro from Brittany popularized by Galician folk musician Carlos Nunez, renamed "As Covas do Rei Cintolo" then "St. Patrick's An Dro". It's a big Celtic ClusterF*ck.
@@denisbudbudMusic need not be static. It is unlikely that in a traditional Brenton setting there were keyboards, an African style hand drum, lights and a fog machine. I think it is well to have both tradition and new expression.
@@denisbudbudIf you care to share those examples I'd be glad for it. I'd suggest that public performance music always has a money aspect. That is what making a living is all about. And anything considered traditional was once novel, no? Why do you hold this version of St. Patrick's An Dro to be bad taste?
why have i only just found this group ????...i was looking at Runes and ended up here!!...thank you Runes would have loved to have been there ...so much spirit it just shines through ;)
Goßer Auftritt, vor allem von Fiona und Oliver. Weiter so und ich werdeweiter jede Chance nutzen Euch live zu erleben. Grüße von einem Kind Beltanes (der Walpurgisnacht)!
Yes. From Brenton. Battlefield Band does a very nice take of it in the song,Devil's Courtship". It is understanding "An Dro" is a type of dance so many tune might be called an An Dro. Much like there are many waltzes or polkas.
Faun`s Andro is from the album Licht and was released in 2003. Eluveitie`s AnDro is from Spirit, which was released in 2005. In Addition the song is based on an old traditional breton dance.
BB all who made this ...I'm on a similar tip with adding that kind of thing with drum & bass and heavy dub and other musical types ...it's all good! Praise be!
I know I'm quite late for this, but did you know that an artist called DJ Pentium, in 2014, came out with a song called "Call me" that is basically the remixed version of Andro? I just found out while I was looking for some old "Afro" tunes I used to dance to, when I was a teenager, and ...when I heard it, I thought: I hope he's been paying the musical rights to Faun, at least ! >.< Well, now you know. lol
@EvrenselMuzik Oui, c'est une musique celtique également. L' Andro est une danse traditionnelle bretonne qui se danse tous les samedis soirs dans les festnozs en Bretagne.
Bagpipe could be Balkan although it reminds me of the bagpipes the shepherds from the Abruzzi mountains in Italy used to play. But I'm not a bagpipe expert, I just used to live in an area they were played in.
Many thanks for your post, onclebrfbrf. I love Faun but I don't know much about the origin of their songs. Are they traditional pieces, or some of them are their own creation? Last week I was in Santiago de Compostela and a piper in the square was playing Andro.
@EvrenselMuzik if you refer to Carlos Núñez, it "looks like" since is the same song, but not Núñez's, actually it's a Breton traditional song. If you're a folk/celtic musician is kind of a "must" to play An Dro. Carlos Núñez has his own version and also Faun, Eluveitie, Luar na Lubre, Celtibeerian... and so on ;)
I never liked bagpipes until I heard them played like Fiona plays them. An amazingly talented artist, such a shame she's leaving Faun. She will be missed.
Same. She's the most amazing musician I've come across. I love Fiona so much~
We miss Fiona. 🥲

she inspires me ... I want to learn to play the bagpipes too
She just know how to do !

+tristan8141 What's your dream ? Have people to listen to your music or make the music you love ?
If it's the first case, forget music...
Have you realized your dream?
@@FryTHF Why wouldn't a musician want to have his music listened to? One could have both aspects part of one's dream.
I have never heard a bad version of this, and Faun's is one of the best.
and totally underrated. they deserve much more.
They especially deserve an An Dro dancing audience..;-)

Oh ja.. es war wirklich wundervoll! (:
Ihr seid wirklich die einzige Band die live niemals langweilig wird.
There’s not enough ooo’s in cool to describe the talent of percussionist Rudiger Maul.

Maybe they should co-op with Nunez and give it a run together... most likely, the result will be stunning. :)
