From a marketing perspective it genius. Most people walk balk at spending say $400 on a digital download for a game, but a $5 CCU that reduces it by $20 here or $30 there (spread out over months or even years as the different Warbond sales rolls round, ultimately getting it for around $270), trick you into thinking its a fantastic deal and you're really smart for putting together the chain. All of which obfuscates the fact that you're still paying $270 for a pretend spaceship in an unfinished videogame (or sometimes just the jpeg of one).
Oh and one thing you forgor to mention. If you ever decide to melt your CCU. You'll lose all those upgrades permanently, and will only get the base model if you decide to use a buyback token
Best of all you can lock in a time limited ship you want to get to for very little, so if you get to the point your ready to get it you don’t have to wait for an event. One gripe for me is you can’t melt referral ship chains. Cough… my Galaxy. And you forgot to mention using warbonds stacked to save you a ton..
I have a pretty interesting path for some of the ships I have in game. IF you were following the game 10+ years ago and you happened to pick up ships on concept sales these ships usually go up in price when released. my account has a Perseus for example but the CCU chain started with a gladius, -> starfarer -> carrack -> Perseus If I were to melt this chain it would only be worth 300 but obviously the Perseus if you buy it at this years IAE is not 300. THIS I think is where the big gains can be made... however it doesn't really work as well anymore as CIG are usually better about pricing their ships even on concept. the big ship for me was the carrack on concept was "cheap" compared to its current price tag.
It’s never about how much you saved on one ship. The number that matters is how much we spent on cig all together . I recommend one dream ships by ccu chain so the player will actually learn it and keeping the package starter as a convenient second. But I could understand having two chains , with each chain you should be able to test a few ships as you go up the list . Generally under 200 ship worry less about lti . Remember goals of ships to add to their fleet in game
Without CCUs I would probably have 3 ships. Thanks to CCUs (and referral tokens), I have 12 ships and have spent about twice as much as I would have otherwise.
i like to sometimes buy CCUs for concept ships i might enjoy and take the time till its release to collect some discount tokens, that way im not instantly locked on that ship and may have quite a discount when its ready, i think for my polaris token i collected CCUs for like 2 years and can get it for 400 less than the full price, i would never have bought it otherwise
i liked the zeus, so i just got myself 5€ storecredit tokens to think about it, with it released i can now take those and build some chains for maybe the MR and the ES and those tokens have 25€ discount because they have the concept price still if i dont whant them directly
Majority of the players are already on working class, so its not a big deal or concern of others if they buy a jpeg or a piece of sh*t. Its their own money at the end of the day
I went into the ccu game with a specific ship outcome in mind, and hopully this next big ship sale will get me the missing tokens i need to finish it up.
The CCU game is annoying at the very least. We spend a lot of money to have ccus sitting on our accounts. It is good if you want to buy an expensive ship you know you will keep forever......but I doubt you will keep that ship forever lol
What if the ship your love the most flying is a kraken or an idris. 😂 I always hear death of a spaceship and death of a spaceman. If this is the case I say death of my wallet.
Just get a starrunner. Cargo, smuggling, scanning, data running, put 2 graycat in it and go mining, solo ship, crew ship, fast ship.
Your Voice, the Breakdown and the background music. Fantastic I Look forward to more!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Psst... It's an AI voice. ;) The video is good though. I don't mind the AI.

well, yes thats the other side, without CCU chais existing i probably would have only a few smaller ships instead what i have right now
i got polaris for $200 so
Never about individual savings , when compared to the total spent on an account is added up.

Great explanation thank you.
@@Kiwi_Dave thanks for watching.
It allowed me to go from a freelancer Maxx to a starlancer max so I'm happy
3 YEARS OF UPGRADES AND NOW I GOT MY Polaris

CCU is the meta.
After playing for 6 years, i no longer do CCU's. And now 90% of my fleet are stand alone
Thanks for spending the extra cash. People like you keep this dream afloat. 😌

Yes, this is indeed one of the best use cases for CCU.

I still don't have an idea what a good chain or roster should look like.

lol. You have an expensive taste!
keep a range of ccus? more like hundreds
I personally definitely dont buy aUEC on eBay. For the price of a cutty black i get essentially every ship in game. I definitely dont do that😊
Your a real trooper.......every ship?, jeez
@davewills148 80 euro are 100.000.000 aUEC
@@AnitaPOE2 Wait a few weeks till 3.24.3 has settled down and you will get 30m for $10. Don't get it from ebay though
You "um" and "uh" waaaaaaay too much
