Hey guys the 'bag thing' in the floor is the automatic electric staff exchanger that would swap the staff at full speed at each station without needing to stop. They're no longer used or fitted to the locos. BTW that's me as a young bloke operating it.
VLines responsibility appeared to be to run it further into the ground without understanding at least with passengers, it’s never about a return at all. It’s about moving people efficiently and reduce traffic on the road.
It's pretty funny when you look at this today. V/line no longer run freight trains and there aren't as many loco hauled passenger trains compared to back then.

Not anymore V/Line and Metro trains are now different identities
Thanks for reuploading, I like to see the differences between Australian Railways and Canadian Railways.

vsv nrg believe it or not, V/Line (Department of Infrastructure Vic) owns one XPT set, XP2017-18 and five carriages.
@@maxthum9220 XP 2018 is getting repaired hopefully
@@maxthum9220 your also forgetting that Vic owns xps. 2015 2016 2017 and 2018
Who is that at 14:05? I find it disturbing
Les Boyles
That "old timer" would know how to drive a loco...don't worry about that.
What part of the N class is the spot where he throws the bag onto a rail thing?
At what time point?
About 20 seconds in or so
Staff exchange in the floor behind the drivers seat I believe
and not one high vis vest or "lookout" person. You were responsible for your own safety.
that's because there was no Nanny state. Now everyone is a dumbass
I enjoyed my 4 years as a Signalman in the Met in the 80's😅.
Did everyone in the 80’s have helmet hair?
