Miss the nissan/subaru seatbelt chime. In the 80s, Nissan held controlling intrest in Fuji Heavy Industries, Subaru's parent company. Many electronics technology and a few parts were Nissan parts, chime was one of them even Nissan key blanks were compatible.. A 1989 Subaru DL Wagon was my first car. School security in golf carts may work on high school students on foot but not that Subaru. Only freezing rain will stop it
Good memories come back. I owned 1984 Subaru GL sedan back in 1993. Very good car. Mine was automatic transmission, front-wheels only, ran on regular gas. Never gave up on me. The only problem was rust.
A shime seat belt sounds as a Datsun 210 same sound seat belt! Note a driver rearview mirror (chromed) in older 70's Subaru as a same use Datsun in early models.
Nissan owned controlling interest in Subaru back then. Many electronics and minor parts and technology was shared. Even well in the 90s when Fuji Heavy Industries took.more.control. all three Subarus used Nissan Key Blanks, same chime, same fuse box and wiring, same ignition locks. Made fun of in school because of my Subaru but I could say, mom and step-dad or dad didn't help me buy it, I knew and still know how to.drive a stick, school security hated it, easily outrun their golf carts, out turn any cool.kids car save motorcycle. Only a deer killed her. The experience wasn't wasted. Step-dad was with me, asked I had my Hi Power with me, had venison, got a full box of 9x19mm rounds for the two he used and pointed me to.an 1985 GL EA-82. Didn't like the front look of the GL so we salvaged the DL's quad headlights , power steering pump and clutch and flywheel from the DL, practically brand new and new rear main seal. Ran rough even though mechanically tuned. Some BG-44K fixed that and Mobil 1 products. Royal purple wasn't quite a thing back then
' oh i do love my 1984 old sedan subaru car, grey, 4 doors, LED speedometer, aluminum rim wheels, sunroof vent, automatic, power windows, 1800cc... 1984 subaru cars were the best top than 2000 to now today is a big lousy subaru cars
... and that full size spare tire in engine compartment - it was awesome!
Thank you. This was my first car back in 94. Subaru GL 2 door beige. That chime. I forgot about that chime.

Been looking for a Subaru GL hatchback. Did they all come a 4-speed or can you upgrade to a 5 speed?
you still have the wheels in the trunk?
