Discussing the recent DLC announcements ~ Train Sim World 3

- In this video I'll be giving my initial thoughts on the Train Sim World 3 add-ons that were recently announced by DTG. The add-ons in question are as follows:
Amtrak Acela Express
Linke Rheinstrecke - Mainz to Koblenz
Midland Mainline - Leicester to Derby and Nottingham
Northeast Corridor - New York to Trenton
Peak Forest - Ambergate to Chinley and Buxton
Union Pacific SD70ACe Heritage Units
Can't say I'm surprised to see the devs focusing solely on the UK, US and Germany again. It's about time we started getting a much wider variety of routes in the game, especially since it's called Train Sim 'World' and not Train Sim 'Just Three Countries'.

I’m guessing that DTG are basing the new steam route in the 60s because of amount if reference photos available. It would be more difficult to base a steam route say in the 1930s as they would be heavily limited on reference photos from that era.
It’s a amazing that they are bringing a closed line in to the game which I thought DTG would never do.
Can’t wait for the MML route
Dovetail needs to work on it's hornsounds. They are way too abrupt, with no tail-off, and the sounds are very low quality. Instead of working on content and routes, work on realism for the sounds.
The danger with constantly churning out add-ons is that, people might only drive on them once or twice, then get bored and wait for the next add-on. Then the cycle repeats itself.

I may disagree with the sentiment of the video, but finally, someone acknowledges that the avelia liberty is just....horrific looking lmao
5:24 - Well according to Lukas from DTG, they wanted to do the 628, as it is such a classic on German railways. A lot of unelectrified branch lines had those trains running there at one point. While the 245s were in service from 2014 onwards, it would have been bland to see more DoStos coming to TSW, like we have DoStos on countless routes already: Dresden - Riesa, MSB, Dresden - Chemnitz, KWG, Hamburg - Lübeck.
Additionally, we would only have gotten one route for the 245 with no additional layer possibilities, because every route in TSW doesn't have any 245s on irl. With the 628, you at least have the possibilities to layer them onto Linke Rheinstrecke (as is done with the release of Niddertalbahn)
I'm sorry but I think dovetail are screwed when sin rail the new polish sim coming out with 350km on release of route I'd released. Thier monopoly is going to go soon
I think the US add-ons being released on February 21 is an apparent attempt to overshadow SimRail, but don't quote me on that. But given what we know about DTG, I wouldn't be surprised if it's an intentional attempt to steal attention from SimRail.
@@TheTrainspotterFromTauranga I`m 99% sure its the case, they pay attention to potential competitors as any buisness. SimRail has very fun working MP and thats its biggest strenght righ now over DTG product.
Liverpool to Crewe could be a good modern north west route if they instead had it pass thru Huyton, Rainhill, Earlstown, Manchester etc like in real life. it'd be a great chance to include multiple trains like the 319, 331, they could even reuse the 323s
Or AU $53.95 a pop. Having said that DTG only had ONE line in their Edinburgh-Glasgow add-on when Video 125's Driver's eye view of the same name showed 3 of the 5. Two were Via Shotts.
I feel like the route via Falkirk High was a bit of a cop-out. The North Clyde Line (Edinburgh to Helensburgh Central via Airdrie and Glasgow QS low level) would've been a better option, in my opinion, especially since that would've required the inclusion of the Class 334 Juniper.
@@TheTrainspotterFromTauranga Or maybe The Fife Circle
5:42 probably of the new TSW 3 features that arent even present on New York-Trenton I think
8:56 Cursed AEM-7 Number spotted
They could have added The Stanier Black Five or an LMS Tank engine even. Better still The Southern Routes featuring The Schools Class, The West Country/Merchant Navy Class both original and rebuilt versions and The Lord Nelson Class on The Wagon Lee Boat Trains to Dover from London Victoria.
The trouble with adding the Black 5 is that there are so many different variants of that design (domeless boilers, Caprotti and Stephenson valve gears for example), but knowing DTG's laziness they would probably insist on only including one variant.
I’m seriously ticked off that i can’t ride the Princeton branch. It’s right next to me, but I can’t simulate my home line in its entirety, the old TS classic map is a buggy mess. I just want the level of detail and play you can get with TSW for the fastest line in the US
actually it's 1 Swiss and 1 Austrian route
0:22 that scared me off
I wondering the same thing why it only went from Koblenz to Mainz instead of the full route to Frankfurt. Reminded me a lot of Ruhr Seig Nord route. Also I would have like to seen the ICE T and other locomotives, it’s nice seeing the Br103, but that’s the only thing exciting for me. The rest is just questionable
It's new content but DTG have made some questionable decisions on the midland mainline they Can't be bothered to include Sheffield my local city as you could have services from London you can run to Sheffield but you would start at Leicester as if its a crew change if tram sim has any UK tram routes like Sheffield Supertram, Croydon trams, Manchester metrolink and finally Blackpool also as a added bonus Crich tramway Village. On Blackpool you would be able to run the modern trams and the classic trams around Blackpool. Sheffield Supertram you will have 4 routes Blue Halfway - Malin Bridge, yellow Meadowhall - Middlewood, purple Herdings Park - Cathedral could also do some services to Meadowhall and finally Tram train Rotherham Parkgate - Cathedral there's one depot Nunnery Square P+R which stores all 32 trams there's 25 siemens duewag trams used on blue yellow and purple services and 7 class 399 tram trains which can be used on all 4 lines.
The new Midland mainline route is being made by Skyhook games
Speaking of rush hour routes
Brighton mainline is so unfinished it’s so astonishing how unfinished it STILL is especially Reigate
It's disappointing that the midland mainline route is only going to derby and not continuing to Sheffield. I hate when they give you fast and much loved trains like the 158 and hst but only 30 miles to use them on like the whole selling point of tsw3 was longer routes yet nothing has even come close to the 116 miles from kassel-wurzburg and even worse they have the audacity to sell all these routes at the same price despite their varying length and amount of new trains because there is no way that SEHS which is about 90 miles and has 4 trains the 465, 375, 395, 66 (none of them new and the 375 needs new PIS and the 395 needs new sounds) which even if you previously owned them it's quite a lot for 1 route should cost the same as Birmingham Cross City which is less than 40 miles and has 1 train which although is a great route despite some world holes and the 323 accelaration and deceleration noises (dtg always mess up the sounds) it just should not cost the same amount of money
And as if the MML being too short wasn't bad enough, this won't even be the first time we've got an HST on a criminally short route. Anyone remember Great Western Express?
@@TheTrainspotterFromTauranga yeah ik it's so annoying that GWE is so short and empty guaranteed they'll mess up the sounds too they might even ruin the 158 for me which is the entire reason i want the route the VP 185 HST is just a bonus for me
I wouldn't be so annoyed with GWE if DTG actually bothered to include even one (or preferably, all) of the Thames Valley branch lines. My favourite of the bunch is either West Ealing to Greenford or Slough to Windsor & Eton Central.
@@TheTrainspotterFromTauranga I still get PTSD from GWR, even tho now a days because of all the upgrades, it's now a hidden gem of Train Sim World but still that's not long enough for an HST
Imo NEC still has lots of potential, The Arrow IIIs especially as they have their own timetable and do not need to substitute in the NJT and Multilevels. It's Abt time we got NJT in Train Sim World, buttt They should have also thrown in the ALP-45DP and Comet IV coaches with a Comet V cab car which enables substitution and Arrow III and Hell maybe a PLAC-42 before they head to the scrap yard. You wanna know what pisses me off abt this route tho the fact there isn't anything new in it. Let's also add the Arrow III has been one of the most requested trains to be added to the game even if the driving experience is very bizarre
Good point on the ALP-45DP and PL42AC, though I didn't think the latter ran on the NEC. You're not wrong about there being nothing new with the NEC route, almost like DTG are trying to wring out their soon-to-no-longer-be loyal customers for every last cent (again).
I think the worst parts of this pack are the glaring omissions of the Trenton to Philadelphia section and, of course, the Princeton Branch. The section one is more annoying to me.
If we had an ALP45DP then we could have gotten at least some AI trains on the lower level of Secaucus Junction
I only get the routes for the trains mostly.
TSW has just been disappointment over and over again. Tiny routes, stupid and moneyhungry decisions aswell as lies have ruined what can have amazing potential. TSW has been around for half a decade at this point and it barely feels different to the original TSW, It could be an incredible experience if they could start making less linear maps instead of routes with a few different lines and actually recreate the busyness of all these large stations (St pancras in SEHS is appaling) and really immerse you into the world, instead of the sterile ghost towns they currently are. the game routes feel far too clean aswell in my opinion.
I stil don't see how they couldn't merge East Coastway & brighton mainline or the scotrail express and cathcart circle for those with both add ons.
If they want to add multiplayer (like they promised) doing something similar to SCS' Convoy mode in Euro truck sim would be the best way to do it.
and why is it still next to impossible for the community to make mods and route addons/extentions? all of the most popular, longest lasting sims have had great community mods, EG Flight Sim X, euro/American truck sims, even Omsi 2 despite being the buggiest most broken sim is still one of the best because of incredibly high quallity community made content
The lack of competition has made Dovetail too confident that there fanboys will always spend and spend. a return of MSTS in some form would completely destroy Dovetail if done right. If simrail keeps going strong it could certainly prove to be a worthy competitor
there days at the top are numbered if they keep going down there current path
I've long since stopped caring at all about DTG and went to play SimRail instead, which has branching lines, 500 km+ of rail and multiplayer
So cant they now just take the NJ double level coaches and slap them on the MBTA route? And with the amount of money we spend on: *game, *maps, *locos, to spend some money on licensing SEPTA.
Honestly man
MBTA doesn't use the same Multilevel coaches as NJT. Instead they have BTC-4 coaches and CTC-4 cab-cars built by Kawasaki.
@@TheTrainspotterFromTauranga Yep, NJ uses the Bombardier double level coaches.
Is it just me or is this guy a little overly critical
I’m not saying he should be a sellout I’m just looking for someone in the middle
100%
He isn't a sellout he is sort of impartial but will point out accurate things from the developers the ambassadors only point out positives and maybe like 2 negatives
