Stunning work! I picked up a couple of things while watching your process, thanks for sharing it. I'm unclear on one thing though. May I ask how you go about applying the pattern to the particles? I'm working on a Deinonychus, and I'm at a loss as to how you achieve that effect. It seems very non-destructive and flexible which is neat. I don't know of a way to apply materials to particle systems which emit objects. I think I managed to get close to the desired effect but I'm out of ideas :')
You can see the setup around 21:03 . In brief, you give two sets of UVs to the emitter, one for its textures, second one for the particle mapping 00:05 . When importing textures to particle shader you map them to UV and check "from instancer box". To create patterns you use Mix RGB nodes like 9:02
@@joannakobierska6739 Ah, thank you ^^ I actually somehow hadn't noticed that you have separate textures for the skin and the feathers. I was indeed close to arriving at the solution - plugging the texture coordinate into mapping's "Location" instead of "Vector" gave me the desired result. Eureka :P
Incredible! The feathers are so realistic! I'm just learning blender so this is great. I have to ask, what's that foggy hdri you're using? Talk about the perfect ambient diffused lighting for natural subjects 🤩
It's amazing how you achieve such a realistic result. Incredible attention to detail in every centimeter of this model
The feathers are insanely perfect! Couldn't be more real. Love this art so much.
Wonderful work. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, this helped me out a great deal, I'm about to do raven feathers and I was trying to figure out how to make them look iridescent.
Hello wow what a great content
awesome job
Amazing!
Super awesome
wait how did you make hte feathers use the bodies uvs if they weren't done through particle instance?

I think it's this one polyhaven.com/a/misty_pines
All HDRIs I used here come from Polyheaven
How do you make the feathers look so soft? they always look so sharp for me
I use translucency in my shader. You can see the setup around 9:16
@@joannakobierska6739 lar thanks
Impressive work ! Colour scheme reminds me of Northern lapwing. Was that species an inspiration ?
Straw necked ibis
what blender addons do you use? looks great
Only the default ones like node wrangler
What pc specs does one need to have in order to be able to handle so many feathers?
