I'm a simple man. When I see someone working on trying to figure out what dinos looked like with feathers, I subscribe.
Why do we need to figure that out?
It would be wonderful if it was possible to just show a 20-minute video of how you work with the feathers, I know it's difficult, but thank you for the great inspiration. This deserves millions of views your work is perfect. I hope that one day I will be as clever.
Maybe in the future. I will try my workflow with geometry nodes and then we will see.
@@joannakobierska6739 Uh oh, GNs ain't so simple to use with hair then? It's been months, and you are _way_ better than I and I don't see that "promised" tutorial (!)
Wow. Thats cool. Hope to see more of your works
You have GOT to make a tutorial on how you made all of this! I would pay a lot of money to see it happen :D
Absolutely magnificent!
Maybe in the future. Recording this one was exhausting.
@@joannakobierska6739 I can only imagine! This is beyond breathtaking. My eyes kept jittering from the sheer beauty of that you created 🥹💜
This deserve way more views ! incredible job !
I've been wondering how you did particle systems. I've tried particle instance before but always had mixed results with the curve/particle tilt, being unable to control it reliably. Amazing work as always, can't wait for the next part, looking at pro artist's shader setup is always so useful, I want to make some feathered paleo accurate dinos one day and this will be a godsend
I'm rotating the particle instance in particle edit mode using the R key.
Grooming in blender requires so much patience and know how to.
Thanks so much for sharing! Great stuff!
Awesome! I love your tutorials 🦖😁!
its cool that you make even the largest primaries as particles, it means there is no need to separately rig them just the body, right?
Theoretically yes, but I rigged them anyway to have better control.
Creí que tenía plumaje de buitre 🤣🤣🤣
Joking aside, the final product is excellent.
God this would've been shomehow much more of a hassle to do in Maya with xgen, I shudder to imagine. I'm curious about the feather materials tho. I imagine that for the hair system Blender probably has some dedicated hair shader that creates that typical halation/color fringing when you light them up from behind, but what kind of material did you apply to the geometry hair cards? Is it all the same shader? did you add some SSS for the translucency of the flat feather cards?
No matter what I do I can't get my particle rotations to work. Is there something I'm missing? Feathers on one side of a model always are great, but they're not mirrored correctly on the other side, even when I mirror the particles.
The two sides of your model have to be perfectly identical. And sometimes it just doesn't work. That's why I convert primaries and secondaries into meshes and mirror them myself.
@@joannakobierska6739 thanks I think i got it to work.
Do you know if you can apply force fields to the particle instances?
I love the control it gives, but the only way I could manage was a displace modifier with a noise to fake a force field.
I would love to have weak wind interaction with the feathers.
Do you make your own feathers in 3D too or are you using image assets? Amazing work by the way!
I really wish these models were public lol
Beautyful. I only had to turn off the music and play some more up tempo music instead to keep me focused 😄.
Am I tripping?! There’s a “feathers in blender” tutorial on UA-cam I used to create this exact dinosaur and the tutorial also used this background music!!
how did u made the feather sprites? are these pictures of feathers or renders? and is there any way to download them?
Question, how did you make the feathers deform with the particles? also great job
Primaries, secondaries and tail feathers aren't a hair system but a particle instance modifier. You can see the setup in 00:35
@@joannakobierska6739 This is a nice method, thank you for sharing this.
Good work!!!There you take so many feathers alpha?
The feathers seem so difficult to do! No wonder so many people skip them when doing CGI dinosaurs.
OHHHH SO THATS HOW YOU ADD IN FEATHERS!
how do you color them tho? that´s honestly been a thing holding me Back from adding in Feathers, like i have only been stuck with fur, Hair and Chick feathers.
You will find out next week
@@joannakobierska6739
nice
@@joannakobierska6739 cannot wait, this is the best series!
Could you share the tech specs of your workstation?
wow manually putting the feathers
I'm learning blender just to make Dinosaurs lol.
Too fast. Please redo.
Useless. Dont put it on the feed like its a tutorial. you waste the time of people who would like to learn. Its sped up and the m,usic is too loud. post something useful or label it as a show reel.
