- Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth teaches Ivan Chopik how to play 'Ending Credits' as part of GuitarMessenger.com's Artist Masterclass with Mikael. To see the rest of the Masterclass, log on to www.guitarmessenger.com and go to 'Lessons.' The video was shot in Miami, FL on May 30th, 2008.
Mikael is a genius and a great guy. It's sad that he will never get the recognition he deserves.
mikael is just a genius writing songs like this ! you just have to admire !
@Jagstaldincola We had plenty of tape. The tour manager came in and signaled that it was time for Mikael to go to sound check. I would have loved to have kept jamming for days, but of course we had to respect the time we had - which Mikael was very gracious with and we are thankful for!
This was without a doubt one of the most memorable musical experiences I've had in my life - thanks for checking it out!
"Ending credits", from the album "Damnation"
I agree with everything you guys have just said.
Opeth's music makes me cry, that's how good it is.
mikael is a genius
Mike's face when they wrap it up is hysterical
SO. JEALOUS.
No movie can ever be worthy of having this song as it's ending credits :P
That is one sexy telecaster.
The Christians have Jesus, we have MIKAEL AKERFELDT
@keixoun Mikael mentions in the video that it's from a song called 'Trouble' by Camel.
Dat tone

Hey Ivan, what song is that he says the melody come from? I heard it is from Camel, but I can't find anything. Little help?

Mikael plays Fenders? Did not know that (:
it is "its totally ripped off from a band called camel" as Mike said on Lamentations :D
So lucky. My fanboyism is bubbling to the surface right now. :P
Swweeeeet! How'd you hook that up?

@merdenoms74 I daresay hes getting it in the metal community.
DUUDE YOUR SO LUCKY hahahh NICE
ending credits:P
@bigpeteswackshack Yep
what do you mean?
What song are they playing!?
ending credits
@atmospheric88 You should listen more carefully.
@kirbster Wait, wait wait. Are you seriously suggesting that Mikael immitated Eminem? Is that what you are seriously suggesting? (Thise is not a rhetorical question)
i'm the 49,000th viewer
@Megadedly No shit
blackwater park i think
Yeah definitely, I wasn't criticizing at all. Obviously the same chord progressions are used in countless songs, but it just struck me that an Opeth song and an Eminem song sounded so similar.
It's all about how you arrange it, and Mikael came up with a wonderful melody for it.
Um.. Ending Credits
4 dislikes? 4 people that listen to 50 cent haha. Thats ok, I love them enough for all four of you tastless drones \m/
music is inside the soul, not in the academy :)
i agree with you all. many trained musician just dont have the proper perception of music so they play without cause, motive, felling, purpose, story ...
eminem? are you serious?
lmfao guys, I'm a big Opeth fan and all, but this chord progression Mikael teaches in the beginning, I'm pretty sure, is the one used in Eminem's song "Marshall Mathers"...
well... everybody know mikael writes songs for eminem. eminem cant help being owned by mikael;)
