No doubt your customers are extremely pleased with this beautiful wall & steps!
👍👍👍
Thank you!
Thanks Mom!
Simply awesome Nick , Fitz and crew . The client should be extremely happy with the end product as you do quality work with attention to detail 👍.
Thank you! I always tell Fitz that our viewers love seeing him in action!
Nice job. But why didn't you use geo grid to anchor the Wall.
Well done! Quality job.
Looking good 👍
Thanks!
Very nice job , what a difference.
I agree. Thank you!
Big improvement. Hopefully, a follow up with the driveway.
Thank you! And yes, we talked with the client and agreed that a gravel (asphalt millings actually) driveway would be a great improvement! That job should be coming in the next few weeks!
Good job mate. try using a diamond concrete wheel on a 4 1/2" cordless grinder. Much lighter and easier to get perfectly flat.
Funny thing is that we have one of those in our job trailer……which happened to stay at our yard for this job! Good call though! Thanks for watching!
Excelent!
Hey! nice to see you use your tiltrotator from Sweden on your mini excavator. here in Sweden we have used tiltrotator since the 80s. I myself like the engcon tiltrotator. today in Sweden, every excavator from one ton up to 30 tons has a tiltrotator in Sweden and even backhoe loaders also have a tiltrotator. nice Bobcat you have. I like bobcat and CAT machines and a volvo🇸🇪
Hey there! We love the quality of these Swedish attachments. Everything from the tiltrotator itself, to the buckets and controls are all very well made. I have been thoroughly impressed!
I envy your construction industry. These attachments are the future and places like Sweden are ahead of the times by using them on almost all small to medium sized machines. We hope to attach a tiltrotator to the next machine we purchase as well!
Thank you for watching, I really appreciate it!
Nice video.. You guys are the Pro's.. I just did a Harry Homeowner special retaining wall abt. 3' x 50 ft using the Lowes 16" blocks. Must say the backspace "Nubs" on the blocks are Sketchey as heck.. half of them missing.. Casting Flash and little bumps excessive . Took the first Row for me to figure that out. From then on.. wipe every mating surface, bang off the flashing and bumps before placing each block. Also, with the setback the inside corner block spacing changes with each row. Some extra planning how the block gaps stack up might be in order. Mine turned out OK, but could of been better.
Quality control on all of these materials has definitely gone down in recent years. It’s unfortunate, but you can always find a way to make it work!
Great video. Very nice work!
What does a job like this cost? If you can provide an approximation, that would really help me to gauge how I’m estimating my retaining walls. 😊
Thanks for sharing. I am in a similar situation where I need to build a wall and a stair in the middle, however all using blocks (not natural stones). I am confused about one thing, with blocks the first block is fully buried, however with stairs it’s half buried. In this case, when it’s wall and stairs, is the first course of blocks fully or half buried?
Good work brother Jonathan Allen Landscape
I’m a little worried about how high you backfilled with crushed stone, especially with that downspout sitting right next to the wall. All that water is going to saturate the backfill and potentially push the wall out. I think burying a drain for the downspout wound have been a good idea,
I totally agree with you. This job should have had a drain pipe installed behind it to drain any water out from behind the wall, especially with that downspout there in the corner.
I know it is not a good excuse, but this job was trying to be done on a budget so we estimated it as "bare-bones" as possible to help the client out. The lack of drainage was definitely not good to leave out of the job. We will have to keep an eye on this project to see how it fares, and to make sure that there are no issues in the future.
You guys do low voltage lighting built into retaining walls?
Short answer, no. In the past, we have installed client supplied lighting in a custom built stoop and steps in a walkway. We just did the installation, no wiring. We have also installed conduit, and electrical posts for clients, but we do not do any wiring on anything like that. If more people were to ask about lighting, it may be something we would get into, but currently there does not seem to be much client interest for it.
Late response. I often find middle ground as a hardscaper by installing conduit/pvc w pullcord. I'm not on the hook for the volts or the junk amazon fixtures they stick on. @@NKLandscapingLLC
Hey three more Harry Homeowner wall things..
1. I noticed you guys didn't use any motar.. I used PL500 adhesive between each row. Seems to hold but be flexible as things settle. Not cheap.. Worthwhile or wasted $$?
2. On packed dirt, I used one 80 Lb bag of concrete with added 4 gal bucket of #8 gravel thru a HF mixer and poured only about 3 inches thick for the block foundation. Blocks installed and leveled while still slightly wet. The gravel is used to stretch concrete use since gravel is only $76 a yard and needed for the drain aggregate anyway.
3. Every other block, I fill one vertical stack block void hole with 1/2 rebar and my gravel/concrete mix thru to the concrete foundation. OverKill?
if not specified by the manufacturer then yea.
Why is there no drainage behind the wall?
What the heck is that Gimbal thing on the end of your Backhoe? With a Rotate?? Wow.. like to see the hydraulics on that one.
It is a Steelwrist Tiltrotator. Check out one of our older videos where I show it in more detail! It makes our excavator very handy!
What was the ballpark price of this job?
What attachment was that sifting the rocks from soil?
That would be our Rotastar RS2-4 screening bucket. We purchased that from out good friends at A&D Equipment, the same company that sold us our Steelwrist!
Company like that is Who make people do Wrong things this wall not have geogrid and don't have filters fabric and ni drain on thr first course 😂😡
I didn't see any Geogrid going in, any reason why you didn't use it?
It’s technically not needed on walls 4’ or less, and this wall was right at 4’. If I was going any taller, I would definitely put grid in.
In this case, the budget was limited, and the septic system was behind the wall, so digging back further to install grid could have caused some issues.
@@NKLandscapingLLC Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. You do good work.
Thank you! Every job requires some sort of “working around” a budget. We try to do the best we can with a given budget and always want to make sure the client gets the best quality for the money!
Geo grid??
How do you find out how many steps you need for an elavation I have a 10ft area with a pretty good grade needing to find out how to math how many steps I need to
These steps are 7” tall and 24” deep. You need to do a rise/run calculation to figure out how much overlap you need on the steps. Our overlap runs from an 11” step area to 22” of step area.
What are the pipes in the base for?
The pipes are used to level the base layer of stone.
You did not put any drainage pipe in the back of the wall. Also no screen on back of wall.
What size machine is that?
KX033-4
Hi. What is a size of steps stone ?
7” height
24” depth
48” width
No drain pipe
No geogrid....
Dangling that stair block over concrete saw ... trusting chain ... id still move saw outa the way ... kinda shows your guys not looking out for business ... just an observation
no offense but you don’t really show how you build it
This video was never meant to be a tutorial on how to build these projects. It is just me showing a day at work on one of our projects.
He ain’t giving away game for free
@@ivanhernandez-ny1ce i don’t need it because i do hardscapes but the title is misleading. would be like me saying “2 story house build” and showing the finished product.
Your employees are so lethargic I'm amazed they get any work done, sitting around, hands on hips, and looking totally miserable. Certainly not a company I would wish to engage with. Image is everything.
Thank you for your opinion Mr. Internet man! 👍🏻
